He said atheists either suppress their humanity or lack it all together. I think the definition of humanity makes it pretty clear that’s at least as bigoted and as reminiscent of the thought processes that lead to atrocities as most of the stuff he winges about.

Right, so why on earth did you just say religion had nothing to do with humanity's progress to being sophisticated, modern states when you're now back to saying it was pivotal? You are all over the place my man. Now let's try again, why was religion pivotal in the advancement of civilisation? A) They're an isolated tribe in the jungle. Show me any tribe that lives in a similar location that independently developed advanced civilisation. B) How are they different to other tribes? They fight? Everyone fights.

It really is. Controversial, not true. And again, that means you're using bad logic and lying about it. Can't have it both ways. You must have an incredibly dim view of anthropology, because it's absolute claptrap. Exhibit a: War. It never stopped, it just got bigger. The only way religion is responsibe for stopping us from being tribes fighting with spears is if the religious leaders were the guys who invented nastier weapons than spears. I mean for crying out loud, if you think belief in god scared us all into being nice to each other I don't even know what planet you're living on. No it isn't. The way that societies evolved always involved religions because religions of one form or anither have always been present. That doesn't make them necessary. "It happened this way therefore it could never have happened any other way" is bad logic.

Impeachment is not a criminal investigation. It's basically an internal disciplinary hearing run by politicians. At best it's an employment tribunal. Analogous to a criminal investigation? Fugeddaboutit. Stupid argument and you know it.

No, I've been quite consistent in pointing out hypocrisy over the years. If you wanted to look back you'll see I've said the same thing many times - I don't care if people are polite or insulting, but I can't stand the ones who moan and moan about courtesy from others and then come out and throw insults. Pretty much every post Coreece has made over the last 6 months has been moaning about (often imagined) bigotry from supposed anti-christians, then he comes out and says something clearly bigoted. I don't see why it's difficult for either of you to grasp the reason I pointed it out.

What makes you think that? I mean seriously, it's the most hilariously clueless argument I've ever heard. In pretty much every civilisation around the world people only stopped killing their neighbours with spears when they invented better weapons to kill people with than spears. Well, every civilisation except the ones that were invaded and destroyed by the ones who invented better weapons first.

I don't think all of that is an accurate representation of what he said. Right, and Christians viewing people who don't share the same religion (or any religion) as without humanity has resulted in its fair share of atrocities too.
