National protests against Minneapolis police murderers?
jakee replied to normiss's topic in Speakers Corner
How is it that we agree when you stated that it was the reason for the drop in crime? -
Nothing about this is a protest. (NSFW Racial Expletives)

And for you. This is real life, not a Rambo fairy tale. You wouldn't have done anything, and even if someone had tried they wouldn't have achieved anything. Stop trying to deflect the blame away from the cops and onto the innocent bystanders. That's despicable. -

It's easy to be that certain sitting at home after the fact. Unfortunately that's not how reality works. -

Why on earth do you believe that? The cops all knew the guy on the ground was saying he couldn't breath and they didn't care. Why are they going to care about someone else repeating it to them? Floyd: I can't breath! I can't breath! You: Hey, the dude says he can't breath. Cops: I know what he's saying, now get the fuck out of my fucking face. Seriously man this attempt to deflect the blame onto bystanders who were in no position to intervene is some fucked up bullshit. The guy doing the killing wouldn't have had to deal with you, one of the others would have stopped you getting there. And again, remember that this would be a decision you had to make without knowing how it was going to end. Seriously - what do you think you could have said to them that they didn't already know? Most people would say that applies to everyone on this forum, it's what brought us here in the first place, right? But it doesn't make any difference in situations like this. You couldn't have done anything and you wouldn't have done anything. -

??? Discussed doesn't mean accepted. -
National protests against Minneapolis police murderers?

First, people were not told that. Investigation of major crimes continued while the beat cops were doing there stand down. Second, I'm lucky enough not to have had to claim for theft on my car or home insurance but I imagine they'd want a police report regardless. Third, it was discussed in the article. -
And he's not the only one who thinks you're being way nastier and more spiteful than the post you took exception to.

I highly doubt it. It's easy to picture doing the right thing in the comfort of your own home, with the benefit of hindsight and with time to plan out a course of action. It's a different world to doing something on the spur of the moment, faced with 4 cops going about their business and controlling the area, and without actually knowing that something really bad is happening and that someone is going to die. This is not a slam on you in any way - the person who would in real time try and step into that situation is 1 in 10,000. And further, no bystander would have achieved anything anyway. Anyone trying to stop that cop would have simply been pushed back or taken down before getting to the murderer. The only people that realistically could have stopped him were the other officers, and they should have stopped him. Blaming the bystanders is just confusing the issue. -

I think just about all the MSM outlets have reported that. So what? -

How many major crimes do the cops find by being out on the street vs what is reported to them? The crimes referred to in the article are "murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and grand theft auto". Like, if my car was nicked or my house was burgled I wouldn't go looking for a cop on the street then give up on reporting the crime if I couldn't physically find one. There are these things called telephones nowadays. -
And the NFL fully reversed course, rescinding and apologising for their national anthem protest ban. Not sure if that was posted already.

Yep. It's also good news that some Southern cities have started removing Confederate statues and some of the mayors responsible are finally countering the asinine argument that they need to stay up to 'preserve the history' of the civil war. Statues aren't about preserving history, they're about celebrating the roles of the people depicted. Like, no-one ever claimed the War of Independence was in danger of being forgotten because there isn't a statue of George III in front of the Capitol.

I don't think anyone is relying on it. Anyone reading or listening to Trump can make the judgement that he sounds like a child, just as you made the judgement that Will sounded like a child. The ATOS is more of a secondary confirmation of that. Trump sound like a child, and when you run him through the software the complexity of his speech is indeed childlike. You said Will sounded like a child just because he used a couple of phrases you didn't like, and the people who actually read the article disagree. ATOS is like a tiebreaker there, and the measured complexity of his speech is not childlike, it's a lot more sophisticated despite those phrases. Hemingway I severely doubt would be judged as a childish writer by almost anyone. You already know that he's deliberately conveying complex feelings with simple sentences so it doesn't really matter what the score says. And if you then wanted to test by reading some similarly scored Trump and Hemingway excerpts to a human audience who hasn't been told who they're listening to the judgement is only going to land one way.

Dude, this conversation is only happening because you diagnosed him, on the basis of misunderstanding one post. Next level! For someone who supposedly doesn't know what passive-aggressive means you are very good at it.
-
?? You were the cause of that reaction, weren't you?
-
You've had to do a lot of that lately.

Are you living in looking glass land or something?

How do you know the people in Georgia are calling themselves antifa? Ron's neighbour's brother's dog's girlfriend's owner told him that 'antifa was moving north' and now there's a protest in his town which he hasn't been to see which he says is antifa. How do you know it's antifa?
-
You drag the conversations around to you when you keep posting that everyone should be more like you. Whatever you put out is what you invite comment on, and you put out a bunch of stuff about you.
-
So determine it. How do you know the people who protested in his town in Georgia were part f that group?
-
I just Google searched for a place called South Jersey in Georgia and to my immense surprise came up with nothing. Maybe try again.

That's not just wrong, it doesn't even make sense in context. The fact is that you do use you declaration of bias as a shield when people call you on your biased positions. Like when you said Biden was definitely involved in Ukrainian corruption just because. People called you on that and you pretty much just said 'yeah I know I'm biased and I stand by it'. You never for one second contemplated re-examining your position, and it's the same story over and over again. Lol, come off it. You are constantly moaning that you're misunderstood or misrepresented, that you're not the Trump defender or right wing partisan that everyone says you are. Saying that you dont is just a lie. And now that you're saying you intentionally post stuff in that style to mimic people you think are too partisan, how can it possibly be anyone's fault but yours that you are misunderstood? I haven't seen any such claim from George Will, yet you claim that he's simply switched sides too. For no other reason than you think he can't possibly be as reasonable as you.
-
Can you see where the people ron is talking about called themselves antifa?
-
Not on any individual issue I've seen you take a stand on here. I've only seen you do exactly what I've just said - use your declaration of bias as a shield against having to rethink a biased position. And then you moan that people aren't being fair to you because they judge you on those responses. Well guess what - that's your fault. If you said balanced stuff, you'd be seen as balanced. If you continue to spew partisan judgements you're going to be seen as partisan - even if you claim you're only doing it to bite back at people. It means that they have the intellectual honesty to be able to seperate person from party. Come on man, it's crazy the lengths you'll go to in order to maintain this view of yoursef as the only guy with any balance. You see people on the left you say they're too biased to see the other side of the issue and they should be more like you. Then someone on the right starts criticising a right wing person or position and you claim they're still just as biased, they've simply switched sides. You can't conceive that anyone else is capable of doing what you claim you are doing. It's fucking odd, to be honest.
