Good point. Today the head of GCHQ (UK version of NSA) gave a rare public speech and in part of it said that Russia was running out of (some) ammunition and other resources. Now they're wasting scores of precision guided cruise missiles that cost 5 to 15 million dollars each (let alone the cost of flying the Tu-160 sorties and repositioning the destroyers that fire them) for no military benefit at all. They tried to shock and awe Ukraine like this in the first month of the war but gradually stopped when they realised it wasn't working. Either we're still underestimating their resources or Putin and his new butcher in chief have completely lost the plot. During the Battle of Britain in WW2 RAF fighter defenses were on the verge of collapse when a small bomber force was sent to hit Berlin in a symbolic attack. Hitler was so enraged he ordered the Luftwaffe to start bombing London and other cities instead of airfields and radar towers and the RAF was able to rebuild. As horrible as it is for those in Ukrainian cities I wonder if Putin is making a similar mistake.

Worth noting that after this post the ‘adult’ in 10 Downing Street has wreaked havoc on the UK markets with a kamikaze budget fuelled by such rabid ideology that her own party will almost certainly refuse to vote for it. Yet she refuses to back down, even though every day she continues to push forward with a policy that is stone cold dead on arrival is causing more financial pain to the working people of the country. Just to put her support for fracking in context.

Yet you still refuse to call them terrorists.
-
You said the Russians had legitimate goals in Ukraine and that they’d stop fighting as soon as they achieved them. Were you lying then or now? That’s one of the most despicable things you’ve said that. Russia is torturing and murdering Ukrainian citizens in every settlement they control. Give them ‘peace’ and full control of Ukrainian regions and many more will die needlessly.
-
No, the best they can do is an ongoing counter attack that is slowly but surely liberating their territory while also managing to orchestrate a strike on a bridge that has a very high strategic value. It’s not collateral damage when Russia is intentionally aiming at civilians. For Putin the Russian army committing war crimes is a feature, not a bug. Again, in this thread you are the only person who has said the Russian army is acting with any honourable motives. You still refuse to call them terrorists. Why keep supporting the warmongers and murderers?
-
Still waiting for you to prove that Zelensky is embezzling or that the Azovs were killing tens of thousands of people.
-
No need to guess why you refuse to call Putin a terrorist?
-
How? Why did the last 'vote' need to be rigged? There ya go. Except a lot more than that.

The question was "why is it OK for Russia to invade Ukraine?" and you replied with the reasons why you think it was ok for Russia to invade Ukraine - including that they were "freeing the people". You are the only person here who thinks this war is justified. That is true. Being on the bear's side is a completely seperate decision that you have made.
-
You are the only person here who has justified Putin's actions. You are the only person here who wants to give him free reign over more of Ukraine, which would lead to the deaths of anyone the FSB deems an undesireable dissident or Ukrainian nationalist.

Ah but you’ve missed the genius of his plan. See he said the administration of Taiwan could be more lenient than Hong Kong, which was, errrm, also supposed to be more lenient. Ok, maybe not so genius after all. -
I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to do that, though. It's nice that Slim has such a high opinion of me but honestly I don't have that kinda juice.
-
Much as I would like it I don’t have the power to end the war in Ukraine. Who do you think I am? Your post to Wendy justifying Putin’s invasion proves you are a warmonger.

But it is found in the dictionary you said you use, and the definition matches the way the US functions. I think you only harp on about this because you hope the Supreme Court will enshrine the Republican’s extreme gerrymandering power forever and you’ll have your defence of ‘it doesn’t matter anyway, we’re not a democracy’ all ready to go. Well I think the founding fathers would also have hated one party giving itself power in perpetuity. -
Thinking that an entire country didn’t deserve to be invaded just because you might have found a picture of one soldier with a Hitler tattoo isn’t the same as supporting Nazis. You, on the other hand, most definitely do support warmongering Stalinist terrorists. Hell, Russians have been stealing gold teeth from the mouths of Ukrainians they’re torturing and killing in the occupied areas. What does that remind you of?

The US is a democracy according to your own dictionary definition of democracy. -
Would you say the terrorist Russian state should abandon their war against Ukraine, stop killing children and leave Ukraine so there can be peace?
-
And today another 17 civilians (at least) killed in another Russian bombing of a civilian apartment building in Zaphorizhia city with no military or strategic value whatsoever. And remember that although they don't occupy Zaphorizhia city, Russia still claims to have annexed the entirety of the Zaphorizhia region - so the civilians the Russians are targeting are people who they say are Russian citizens in Russia. Would you like to join me in condemning this despicable terrorist attack by the terrorist Russian state?
-
And the one missing in the list above is that Boris Johnson’s eventual fall was sparked by him appointing a known sexual predator to the No2 position in the Whip’s office. The Conservative party would t have done anything about this if it hadn’t gone public and that hadn’t just lost an entire government over the same issue.
-
That is a good point. Gas prices could never change so much in two whole months.
-
It was one of them - in large part because of the ongoing Russian campaign of infiltration, espionage, bribery and influence peddling. Since that campaign paid off with Russia marching into Crimea and parts of the Donbas unopposed Ukraine has changed massively - starting with overthrowing a corrupted pro-Russian President. They had to, because they knew this was coming.
-
And why would they - they wanted to use them. In the Kharkiv region in the first days of the war Russian espionage stopped Ukraine from blowing up some strategically vital bridges. Keeping them standing allowed a lot more Russian war machinery to be moved into place a lot more quickly.
-
Yes, Russia’s drone attack on a Zaphorizhia apartment building (just like all the rest of their indiscriminate bombing of villages, towns and cities) was a terrorist attack directed at civilians… and you call it liberation. That’s despicable. Your support for these mass murdering warmongers is unfathomable. The Kersh bridge on the other hand is a key supply line for Russia’s military in Crimea and the south.
-
Because they want to use them. 3 people died in an attack on a legitimate and extremely important strategic target. In the mean time, the civilian death toll from just the most recent Russian drone attack on an apartment building in Zaphorizhia with no military value whatsoever has reached 19. One of those things is sad, the other is a war crime.
-
Now the new commander of Russia's entire Ukrainian invasion force is a man who took part in a failed coup attempt to maintain the Soviet Union in 1991, and who personally murdered civilian pro-democracy protesters during that coup. Who are the fascists, again?
