  1. Czech.... Klatovy is a couple of hours bus from Prague and then a short taxi ride... easy enough. I don't know if it still runs but there used to be a boogie in August in Karlovy Vary. Getting around is pretty easy - the bus system is really good. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  2. One more question... On the USPA website it says "The group determined that both USPA and the manufacturers should receive initial rating paperwork for each tandem instructor candidate, but only USPA needs to keep track of rating renewals" Does that mean I no longer need to renew my rating with Vector, just with USPA? 3. Israel DZs.... Paradive is near Tel Aviv, Skykef is further south. Neither is 7 days a week though. Perhaps southern europe could be another option in that area? Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  4. LMAO.... assuming of course the original poster is a guy thats actually a pretty good description!! Now somewhere there is a guy, naked in his bathroom, waving at himself in the mirror whist imaging getting a blow job from a leper who looks like Cindy Crawford as his neighbors look on in horror... 5. More great pics here too http://kmacbeth.smugmug.com/ Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  6. 29mph is (42 feet per second) or 2500ft per min, how many jump planes decend this quickly, especially below 1000ft? Have there actually been cases of a student AAD firing due to decending in the plane? (With modern AADs rather than FXC or other older AADs?) I'm curious, how many places insist on a student cypres being switched off for the decent? I've only seen one AAD fire on a student... and it did it's job perfectly! I haven't seen any "undesired" firings with modern student AADs Edited to add: Was a student no-pull and not a partial malfunction Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!

    Spectre?

After years of jumping 9 cells (sabre / exe etc) i switched to a spectre last summer and I love it! I have 2 rigs and have something a bit faster in the 2nd rig but for wingsuit jumps, demos and aff jumps with lots of weight on i'll always pick the spectre. 8. What about a student that has gone months since taking the FJC? Or maybe did one jump and then came back months later? Do the instructors get paid for the longer than usual ground training/ refresher or just have to suck it up as part of the job? Currently our instructors only get $25 per student for a refresher class, and that (most extreme case) could be a single student who took the FJC 11 and a half months ago and only made one jump and needs pretty much a full FJC. Just wondering what other dz's policies were. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  9. Hi just wanted some opinions and info from other AFFIs/ DZs... How long since their last training or jump does your dz let a student go before charging them for a refresher class? Is it different if 1. They are still in AFF (ie levels 1-7) 2. Finished AFF but not A licensed 3. Licensed but uncurrent At what point do students have to re-do (and pay for) a FJC rather than just a refresher? What are they charging the student for refresher training and what does the instructor receive? Thanks guys Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  10. I haven't seen an on-line picture but Nov 2005 Parachutist has a picture (Pg 56) - I don't know if they'd e able to help you out with an electronic copy. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  11. http://www.bpa.org.uk/howsafe.htm is useful review of this topic. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  12. BPA http://www.bpa.org.uk/forms.htm Form F261 is pretty specific. I believe this was agreed after a working group looked at the 2004 Dunkeswell cessna crash. The investigation following this accident http://www.aaib.gov.uk/cms_resources/G-BGED_11-05.pdf Pg. 47 also discusses brace positions. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  13. Risers & deployment bag (& pilot chute) stay with the container, lines go with the canopy... slinks (soft links)... well that depends how generous you are!! You can undo slinks easily yourself unless they have been sewn/tacked to your risers, if you can't unthread them by hand ask someone who knows before you start cutting stuff!! If you decide to give the new owner the slinks keep the lines on the slinks. If you keep the slinks for your next canopy then loosely knot the lines from each riser together... your buyer will thank you if you don't send the canopy with all the lines looe and tangled together Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!

  16. FAI sets license requirements which almost every country will recognise. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/certificates_proficiency/ The only difference I know of (so far!) is that if you get a FAI (british) license the requirements are quite different ...but BPA memebers can apply for an international FAI license if they are going to travel. BPA license and international license requirements are here http://www.bpa.org.uk/forms.htm or you can see the FAI requirements in section 5 of the FAI sporting code http://www.fai.org/documents/sportingcode. Where ever you get your license make you sure you keep your log book up to date and signed (preferably by an instructor for the first 50 or so) it makes travelling much easier!! Have fun
  17. Always... even on my naked jump Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  18. Check out www.unclepasha.com for cheap and interesting places to stay in Moscow!! I hear the DZ now has hot showers and real bathrooms... I camped at the DZ and had a blast. Check out Plasma, be prepared to drink lots of vodka and eat at the Pizza place in Kolomna most nights (it's that or McDonalds!!!) PS... Watch out for taxi drivers who are drunk or trying to rip you off and don't carry too much cash. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  19. Section 4 for AFF related stuff and then anything else that interests you

  21. I'm in Israel right now and this whole passover thing is new to me. I was late hitting the shops yesterday so I missed out. No bread, no beer, no pasta.... for a whole week!! It's only day one and I'm starving already!! Still we get extra days jumping so it's not all bad Happy Passover basck at ya! Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  22. The Erection Man (Running) Black Erection (Beauty) Lord of the Erections (Rings) Great Erections (Expectations) and finally... Dude, Where's my Erection? Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  23. If you were to lose a contact in freefall how badly would your eye sight be affected? Could you still see your alti, emergency handles and handle an off landing safely? Sunglasses aren't quite as secure as goggles and most will let more wind in than well fitting goggles. If loosing your lenses during the dive would be a big deal I'd stick to goggles. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
  24. I remember hearing about a team building course that was based around following the instructions to pack a parachute... followed by a jump (I'm sure the parachutes were repacked overnight - not sure if the teams were told that or not though) Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
