  1. So footage shot on a PAL PC9, you couldnt take out the tape and play it in a NTSC PC9????? Or am i way off? Also when I buy videos like Breakaway, Pack like a Pro etc. they always offer a PAL version or a NTSC version??? Do i have to chose the right one or does it not matter once its on a regular video??? oh dear, this could get very confusing.
  2. Can someone please explain the differences between the two phases "PAL" and "NTSC" Are they acronyms and if so what do they stand for. Muchos Grassy arse.
  3. I have a Timeout and 1500 and 2500 are pre-set. So I can only change my breakoff beep. (3000-10000???)
  4. Ooops! sorry brynny boy, didnt realise you read these posts, HEY why arent you skydiving boy!! get back to work!!!!!! Rob
  5. Also if your dead set on AFF and have not signed up yet , my two AFF instructors, who go out to Elsinore once a year with maybe 2-6 AFF students are going out to california in May. The price of the AFF you will not be able to beat over here (UK) because its not a commercial operation. They have normal jobs and do the training for fun. So you pay their flights accomodation food beer etc, and they teach you to skydive. the course includes a rig for the WHOLE two weeks (as many jumps as you like after you graduate) free camera on every jump inc. stills.(they take a brit camera geek) Re-jumps at slot price (ie £10 as opposed to anywhere upto £50 depending on what level) They do all this for £1400. you could probably do this for cheaper in the UK, but think about the rig rental. thats what eats up all your money. Jumps over there are $14 (£10) where in the UK they are £17 Kit hire can vary from £5 - £15 a jump in the UK. If you did the course in the US for £1400, did 20 jumps after you graduated, with the free rig. it would cost $280 (£200) if you did 20 after AFF in the UK it would cost you £17 per jump plus the £10 per jump for a rig = £540! Send me a PM and ill give you more details if your interested. They go out in May and are well known jumpers over here and are excellent instructors. It was the best two weeks of my life and could not recommend it more. BS's
  6. no. if the course is held at a "BPA Affiliated" DZ or held by the BPA syllabus then yes. If you went to the US, did their version of AFF you may as well have gone on a Golfing holiday because it will mean jack shit when you get home. I did my AFF in the US but it was under the BPA syllabous with British Instructors. Places like Sebastian have AFF courses for Brits, but double chech everything possible and be 100% that it will accepted as Cat 8 (A licience) when you get back to the UK. Ask or phone your local DZ about the course your thinking about and give them the details, they should be able to re assure you. BS's
  7. I hear the D.E.A have a few vacancies?! sorry, couldnt help myself
  8. O.k, here goes......... I to was a self confessed smoker, and am still known to enjoy the occasional joint. Your situation at home seems to be coming from the fact you want to smoke dope, you believe it is harmless and just the same as having a beer. But your parents disagree with this view and seem to want to throw this fact in your face everytime you guys argue. 3 years ago I was the kind of person I look at now and think, damn, get a life. I smoked dope, was rebelious as hell, thought getting stoned was the best thing in my life at the time. Luckily I didnt share the parent problem. Although I diagree on many subjects with my parents there is no way you will EVER convince them that smoking dope is OK. EVER EVER EVER EVER (believe me this argument is futile) Any inteligent human being should be able to see the exsisting laws/taboo sorrounding the wonderful plant defy logic. Im not saying their dumb, just that the taboo of "marijuana is bad, say no to drugs" is obviouslly too deeply seeded. But is this argument worth screwing your life up? If you get kicked out, have no job, no where to live how do you plan on paying for jumps?? If you bite your lip, stop smoking dope (for the time being ) and try your damn hardest to make things work at home.........DO IT In the end, you will have somewhere to live, good prospects for the future and no doubt be making some seriously good fun jumps, which by far beat getting stoned with a couple of buddies. Im guessing your between 16 and 25 and however hard things seem at home there are people ALOT worse off than your self. Peer pressure seems to be the biggest and most hardest thing to stop any recreational substance, as thats when its hardest to resist. Are the friends you get stoned with skydivers also? If not, say bye bye to them and stick to skydiving. Aim to get employed, get some money under your belt and then worry about having that occasional spliff (like the nice fat one im smoking now

im about 5''7. please.....................stop laughing. i have a reeeeaaaly tight michigan suit (spandex forearms, nylon front) infact its so tight ive not been brave enough to try the booties as when i put them on and get on a "dirt dive board with wheels" (sorry, forgot their nammme!) i cannot arch properly as it constricts my knee movement. so i have just been tucking the booties up the front of the legs!! I also find when i arch like crazy, i start to creep backwards, so i give some leg input to stay put, and i slow down!!!ARRRGH!!!!!!! sod this.....im taking up tennis. BS's

im toooo slow. i weigh maybe 135 naked and whoever i seem to jump with i just arch like a crazy person all the way down to breakoff and never seem to be able to keep up. I have just got my hands on a weight vest, but as yet have not been able to use it. Anyone else had this problem, or the opposite (too fast) and any special tips to get past this. (Ive heard most......Eat lots.......arch......dont let go of the exit......etc etc.) Anything appreciated.
  14. when i click on a thread it skips all the posts and for e.g. if the thread is 3 pages long it will open on the third page?
  15. I have a Mirage M0/G1 and the bridle coverage is not as clever as the G3 model. There is maybe 3/4 inch or so bridle left exposed before it enters the spandex BOC. I was wondering is it possible/safe to have a rigger sew on a Javelin stlye bridle cover next to the spandex pouch eliminating the bridle exposure. Has anyone seen this done, and if so is mirage ok with this mod, as getting tuck tab conversion to the riser covers was recommended (as mine are velcro), but mirage said no no. Any help appreciated.
  16. ive witnessed someone order a pizza from the plane to my amusement.
  17. For myself and other skydivers intersested in this subject, what do the expierenced guys & gals here consider the biggest danger posing new camera flyers both (video and stills). and if someone was intent on strapping a camera to there head what advice would you give them concerning safety. Also if you could look back on your early days of camera flying would you have changed anything (safety wise, learning, types of jumps, no. of jumps etc.) Hope this sparks a few informative posts. BSs
  18. I have attempted to download various manuals from the PD website. When i get them on my word processer and try to print them, a few pages seem to be mixed up and it generally seems wrong, (pictures missing etc.) Is this my poor computer skills letting me down again or are there manuals wrong??? any help would be nice.

  21. after a hard day biffing in landings and generally getting generous amounts of cow shit on your beloved one, what are some good ways of cleaning cordura/parapack and the various things containers are made of. And when youve had a REALLY wild weekend and theres cow shit on your lines and canopy, how can one be sure to get it spanking clean for next weeks poo fest. BSs Pooman.
