The licorice taste is the anisette, that's what makes it cloud when you add cold water too. You can find many that are like the old recipe though fo less than $700. One thing I look for is no artificial coloring, the green should come from chloraphyl(sp?). another is that the wormwood is soaked (like a teabag) and not added as an oil. If you can afford to drink in a bar, you can afford to tip! =$1 per drink especially if your bartender takes care of you. I get 3 finger shots because I take care of people. When you tip your waitress about 40% is split between the kitchen,bussers,hosts,bar,etc....
