  1. This isn't packing, maintaining, or altering in my opinion. This is an assembly, or dis-assembly. I'll also add that a person can do WHATEVER they want to ANY gear including packing the reserve , that doesnt' mean its airworthy or legal to be jumped. It must be done by an appropriately certificated rigger to be legal to jump. Travis, you are correct, anyone can do whatever they want to the gear...and not jump it. But the original poster alluded to selling the rig. I'm sure he doesn't want to sell someone an unairworthy rig. When the AAD was installed it was likely an alteration to the TSO'd harness. The removal of the AAD is then also considered an alteration. That was my point. Sorry, I should've been more clear. Blues, Henry
  2. Be careful. Check Part 65 of the FARs. 14 CFR 65.111 states (in part) "no person may pack, maintain, or alter...unless that person holds an appropriate certificate and type rating..." Safer to get an appropriately rated rigger to do it.
  3. Aircraft. Loopholes exist in the FAA regulations. I know I was in the clear because the FAA rep who was at the event told me my jump was pretty cool. Also, the reason you can't jump a BASE rig out of a plane (normally) is that the harness isn't TSO'd. It's not hard to throw a belly reserve onto a BASE rig. What loophole? 14 CFR 105.43 requires the use of an approved reserve and an approved single person harness and container. It's entirely possible that the "FAA rep" was unaware of the requirement. Edited to add: Oh, and line stretch at 700 feet under a Clipper main...never again.
  4. Yes, it was absolutely beautiful. We sttod outside our home in Western MA and gazed at the very same sunset.
  5. So I went on the internet, subscribed to the New England Journal of Medicine, and read every study I could find on angioplasty. __________________________________________________ Why am I not at all surprised at this. Now get back to work before Mad Dog wrecks your business. Henry
  6. Tami, Send him my best. Henry Trammel
  7. I'm a big boy now, I don't have to be 'taller than this line' to get to ride the elephant anymore. If the DZ's rules vary from the USPA's... then post that in great big letters on the waiver. Twardo? Who actually reads the waivers?
  8. Essentially yes. You need an A&P ticket to sign off most maintenance on a US certificated aircraft. There are some "preventative maintenance" items that can be accomplished by the aircraft owner (See 14 CFR Part 43). PM me if you would like more info or guidance concerning obtaining your A&P certificate. Henry Trammel D-12064 FAA Inspector
  9. MMF baby. At least that's what I've heard

  13. You actually did rock. Very well done. You did great. But I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Not because of you, just because of the Fox BS. It gives me the willies. Yayyyyy for Peter.....Not so much for Fox
  14. 26 minutes and counting. Kelicopter is excited too.
  15. FAA Aviation Safety Inspector, and I'm here to help you. No really, I try NOT to be one of those Wyatt Earp types. Was an A&P mechanic at United, USAIr Express, and various DZs before that.
  16. I was standing in the parking lot of a Nor Cal DZ, having a beer and chatting with a relative newbie. His girlfriend walks up and we're introduced. WE talk for a while, then she heads into the hangar. I mention to him that he has quite a nice girlfriend. His response: "Well, she isn't really all that." We married a year later and just had our 5 year anniversary last month. NEVER say that about your girlfriend!
  17. Great pics. Is that Art jumping a throw-out. Thought I'd never see the day. Miss all the old(er) Palatka peeps. Henry
  18. Oh my god. Is that the same Spanky I remember from the late 80's/ early 90's at Skiatook and Cushing? Please send along my condolences. I think of you all and miss you often. Henry Trammel
  19. Could someone please PM me with a name? BSBD
  20. We really have to watch what we do/say to or around female pilots...or flight attendents for that matter.. Hell, we're not even supposed to call it the cockpit anymore...it's now the "Flight Deck".. ----------------------------------------------------------- Unless it's an all female flight crew. Then it is called the "Box Office". I jest...
  21. Looks like a pitot tube. When aircraft are in test flight stage they often tow an air pressure sensor well behind the plane where it is clear of any turbulent air. It makes sure that they are getting accurate readings from their airspeed and altimeter.
