I AM a little slow on the uptake sometimes... It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, sorry about that. I meant it in a much more nebulous sense; in my opinion, there seems to be a certain amount of (almost) glee on the part of some on this board when something bad happens that somehow denigrates the Bush administration. I guess I find it funny that this is interpreted as "good" or "bad" news depending on how it effects the candidates. As a pre- A "few jump wonder"; I would never make the mistake of "talking above my head" just to look more experienced/tougher/whatever. You just end up looking like a d%$#. I have found it is best to approach siutations like this with a "Yeah, whatever" type of attitude. You should feel sorry for the guy because HE is the one who has to go through his whole life as an asshole; and I would wager a guess that alot of people in his everyday life feel that way. Is this really so shocking; to believe that the same army that included soldiers who were capable of the tactics used in the infamous photographs would also include people who have no problem with stealing from someone's home? Make no mistake, I do firmly believe that the actions of these soldiers and the infamous prison guards were in no way, shape, or form indicative of the character of the rest of our soldiers. I just do not think that you can take 250,00 troops, a good portion of which are from depressed backgrounds or are relatively un-educated, plunk them down half a world away from home with an ethnicially seperated "enemy", and expect every one of them to hang on to their morals. I think the best one I ever saw was one that came out during the popularity of those "I (Heart) this or that" stickers; it was a little round sticker with a picture of a screw on it, perfectly sized to cover the heart. Went to the Indy 500 for the first time this weekend. AWESOME, even with rain. Picture is from the top of the GM suite; where I was sitting. That is Buddy Rice's pit in the background.
