Religiosity attributed to vitamin deficiency
IanHarrop replied to narcimund's topic in Speakers Corner
What is meant by "certain" enthusiasms? I think you might be quite offended and upset - and I think not at all interested in the possibility to understand more about human physiology/chemistry if someone posted the following: At dinner tonight she told us that a particular combination of vitamin deficiencies has been correlated with certain homosexual tendencies. I'm sure it's premature to conclude that all homosexual tendencies are simply a mental disfunction caused by poor eating habits, but there's apparently some indication that it's a factor. It's food for thought... literally. The only thing that is apparent is that you know a doctor that told you a story, and you seem eager to believe it, with absolutely nothing to back it up, not even a reference to an article in a medical journal or minutes from the proceedings of a conference. I don't doubt that someone at a conference made some presentation of some research, but I don't think that is enough to conclude that apparently it is a factor. Plenty of research is bogus for many reasons. One should be skeptical with research that has such huge potential to be politically motivated. Huge opportunity to show intolerance, I think. Sounds like he has faith in what this doctor told him... not too much diffrent than listening to a preacher -

why is aerodyne-int in the source code? why do they program browser dependant code? why do they think I'll change OS's just for them? why did they break my bookmarks? why do they not realize search engines cannot follow flash? (Geez - this one seems wierd because the old site had content link spamming) Whenever I decide to reboot to a different os, I'll look at it. In the meantime, anyone have a sub-page url? I use sub pages via google to see aerodyne's site. All the indexed pages in google (that I tried) give a 404. At least they could have forwarded the old links. I don't understand why people do this stuff. They complain about their search engine rank then completely obliterate it. Why do I have to add empty tags to the word aerodyne to prevent content hijacking? . Unfortunately I don't think that the people that paid for the website understood what they were buying. They got sold an expensive website by designers that want to make a lot of money and don't tell the customer about the problems they are going to cause. I've seen this so many times, i just makes me mad. It's very hard to get a decision to build web pages like these un-done. No one wants to admit that a mistake was made and people start justifying a bad decision. The money is spent and the designer isn't going to give it back. Typically a lot of time has been invested by staff working the designer and friendships have begun, thus there is no motivation to believe what nay-sayers like me have to say about web pages like these. I said basically the same thing about the aerod-yne pages when they first came out - nothing has changed. Smart talking web page designers make good money building slick looking pages. No there wasn't any illegal wire taping...

http://blog.wired.com/27BStroke6/ Feds Drop Bomb on EFF Lawsuit The federal government intends to invoke the rarely used "State Secrets Privilege" -- the legal equivalent of a nuclear bomb -- in the Electronic Frontier Foundation's class action lawsuit against AT&T that alleges the telecom collaborated with the government's secret spying on American citizens. The State Secrets Privilege is a vestige from English common law that lets the executive branch step into a civil lawsuit and have it dismissed if the case might reveal information that puts national security at risk. Today's assertion severely darkens the prospects of the EFF's lawsuit, which the organization had hoped would shine light on the extent of the Bush Administration's admitted warrantless spying on Americans. The government is not admitting, however, that AT&T aided the National Security Agency in spying on American's phone calls and internet communications. "[T]he fact that the United States will assert the state secrets privilege should not be construed as a confirmation or denial of any of Plaintiffs¿ allegations, either about AT&T or the alleged surveillance activities," the filing reads. "When allegations are made about purported classified government activities or relationships, regardless of whether those allegations are accurate, the existence or non-existence of the activity or relationship is potentially a state secret." The Justice Department has not formally invoked the privilege yet. Today's notice was intended to inform Northern California US District Court Judge Vaughn Walker that the government was intending to assert the privilege in order to seek dismissal of the case. The complete paperwork justifying the government's decision will be filed by May 12. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
agreed.. and it's kind of annoying I do have Flash, and the website is plenty annoying. Walt I have to agree with you. Unfortunately websites like this typically have lots of motion but it just makes it more distracting and harder to find the information you're really looking for. The value of the website is diminished when it doesn't help people get information fast. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

War supporters-Please do not make the same stupid mistake again.

Maybe the problem is that no one can argue with what he's saying. SC threads with lots of responses are usually ones lots of back and forth arguing... I mean discussion... -

Nope - Minute Maid has grape juice - see above... More from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimbu_pani "An approximate recipe for U.S. and Canadian lemonade is to mix equal volumes of lemon juice and sugar and add water to taste, approximately four times as much water as lemon juice. In many upscale supermarkets, tall bottles marked as European lemonade can be purchased. These are always carbonated or “sparkling.” Often such lemonades are translucent yellow, more like North American lemonade, though there are occasionally transparent and pink varieties as well. A pink lemonade variation can be produced by adding red food coloring or grenadine syrup. Traditionally, beet juice provided the pink color; so little is needed that the flavor of the drink remains largely unchanged. This beverage may have originated as a replacement for "Indian lemonade," a cold infusion of red sumac berries, sometimes sweetened with maple sugar. Sumac beverages have a taste and appearance similar to pink lemonade, and were popular with Native Americans and early European settlers." That's because there is no link to get there. Don't forget to take out the internal battery that keeps the clock running. They're typically the size of a quarter and accessed by removing the keyboard. Hopefully its not soldered in. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I need help understanding something with regard to employers and non-documented workers/illegal-immigrants. In this story the employers claims to not have know these workers were illegal, but aren't employers supposed to deduct taxes from workers pay and submit that to the government? If the workers are illegal how does the employer deduct taxes? There's probably some simple answer to this, but I have this feeling that the employers are often a big part of the problem.
