Would you like family to skydive
IanHarrop replied to Ruskin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't have a problem with women skydiving whether or not thay've had kids. Do have a problem with kids growing up to skydive? Nope, but I will admit that I was watching closely when my son did his first freefall "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -

This is the kind of sentence a child moleter deserves. If he was in Canada he probably would have gotten off with time served "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Well you probably are! Many years ago I used to see European women give their little ones a shot of brandy before getting on the planes. Of course EVERYONE enjoyed the flights better when the little tykes passed out! So I guess white trash ain't restricted to Americans. Canada: Refugee claimant "not gay enough" for asylum
IanHarrop replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Under the Safe Country agreement with the States, he should be sent to them to deal with. He came to Canada from the States and shouldn't be allowed under this agreement to shop for where he'd like to be a refugee. The agreement is in place that is described in this old link. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/press/02/0236-pre.html "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -

Good points. I wonder what it takes to get the updated software on current Vigils. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
Vigil V. Cypres ( Need help as to which one I buy )
IanHarrop replied to freeflyboy24's topic in Gear and Rigging
I was a lttle disappointed in the response you got from the Vigil representative during the interview at PIA when he was asked to discuss the Vigil "misfires". Basically his response was along the lines of thats how its programmed to work and that just how it goes. I interpreted his answer as "like or leave it". I do like the fact that with the 4 year Cypres check up software gets updated and improvements and new features can be added. ding... ding... ding... We have a WINNER !!! Does that mean I win my self-stated prize??? Be assured I won't be delivering your gift... but I think that many are deserving of it... myself included. Unfortunately, there is little hope for me "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Well I would be getting someone something if I had a someone but this year there is no one and no prospects on the horizon. I'll spend my day singing in a Barabershop quartet delivering Singing Valentines to people that are loved by someone, but in the end I will go home alone. Seems a little like rubbing salt in the wound right now. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Actually it does seem like a lot to me. I want to again publically thank you for doing this. I have been emailing links to your videos daily to several of my skydiving friends and everyone is glad to get a look at what is has been presented. Your videos are as close as we can get to first hand information. From chilly Canada, THANKS "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Had a dog that leaked when it slept. Turned out to be kidney problems. Fortunately a change in diet made the problem manageable for the most part. I agree with others, a trip to the Vet is in order. This is Canada. We KNOW that all criminals are just maladjusted and need our sympathy. Punishing them is not what we are about, re-education is the focus of our penal system. We KNOW this because this is what our judges, un-elected appointed forever free from any oversight, tell us. If I didn't KNOW this I may have slipped up and thought that perhaps she should have never gotten out of jail. And of course she got a light sentence because she help the prosecution get her husband and because her lawyer didn't reveal video evidence he had in his possession showing her to be a stone hearted killer to the police until after a deal was made. If I didn't KNOW that she is just a misunderstood person I might have thought that they should have thrown out the deal and kept her in prison forever. Fortunately the justice system in Canada takes every opportunity to remind me that criminals only need to be re-educated "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

There is a little difference in activation altitude, but just 250 feet. From the Cypres site Student CYPRES "... However, should the rate of descent be lower than that of freefall but still above the limit of 29 mph (e.g. with partially opened canopy, or after a cutaway), then Student CYPRES activates the release unit when the altitude falls below approx. 1000 feet (approx. 300 meters) above ground level. " Expert CYPRES "... It activates the release unit when it detects a rate of descent higher than 78 mph (35 m/sec) at an altitude of approx. 750 feet (approx. 225 meters) above ground level (AGL). I had trouble with the last 2 links. I think these work... Mads Larsen of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5FE-ubPh_M of L&B talks about new altimeters, new accessories. John Leblanc from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2z_k3sKNsY of Performance Designs shares information about the new Optimum reserve, skydiving industry, and equipment. Cliff Schumacher of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08BbNe2L0dc of SSK Industries shows the military products and Cypres 2.
