  1. There are more reasons. The primary reason I've come down with the plane was because I was dispatching SL students and I didn't have time to pack before I had to go back up. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  2. You can listen to some Barbershop here: http://www.barbershop.org/web/groups/public/documents/pages/pub_jukebox.hcst A presentation on that page that will give you some background on the music is called "What Are We Trying To Preserve by Dave Stevens" if you click on it, it will give you a lot of background it about 47 minutes and has a lot of demonstrations. 3. There are many definitions for sex Google 'define:sex' Some of the ones I like best are: Sex- is a Latin numerical prefix meaning 6. SEX- assembly language mnemonic is often used for the "Sign EXtend" "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  4. Damn straight, I was impressed... hardly anybody thinks about Barbershop singing - especially in the skydiving crowd. For fun here's a shot of my quartet singing for the editor of Canpara (Ned Ambrus) on Valentines Day, I'm second from the right. She included it with her editorial in the next issue of Canpara, but surprisingly I was not flooded with inquiries about Barbershopping from the skydiving community. Now with regards to history - the big difference is that in Barbershopping part of the mandate is to preserve history, in particular this form of singing. And lets be blunt - the average age of the society is 57 so that means half the group is older than that and history is them. In skydiving we seem to be looking for what's next, what's new and innovative. Sure the stories from the old days are neat but... Maybe POPS in conjunction with USPA should start a museum, get some of that old gear to a place where it can be preserved before it rots away. 5. Hmmm... I've been Barbershopping for sometime - no not back to the 70's but I do know a little about the history of the society to which I belong. Its been International for a long, long time. http://www.barbershop.org/web/groups/public/documents/pages/pub_cb2_00573.hcsp "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  6. oops... not quite, there is no National Barbershop Quartet competition BUT the Evergreen District contest has been held there.
  7. Point taken. Actually it is happening again today. One of our exports to GB is... (drum roll) sperm! Donors have anonymity here . In other words we have gone from the holy trinity (rape, plunder, pillage) to actually getting paid. If that isn't progress... On a side note many words in the English language are inherited from ancient nordic. I can see it now - sperm factories: the sweat shop of the new millennium "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  8. Attack us? ATTACK US!!!? Wiff wot? We all know that the only things Denmark has made in the last 1,000+ years is Pork Products, Pornography & Pine Furniture!!! Mike. It would be silly to re-conquer England - you'd be conquering your own. I understand that a lot of the Brits have DNA that was contributed the last time the folks from the north went there. 11. The problems with eyewitness testimony: http://www.brandonsun.com/story.php?story_id=7669 I think what some are concerned about is the fact that what people think they saw may not be correct. So they want to wait for the facts to be gathered and digested and some sort of picture to be developed that describes what really happened, as best we know. That's what the investigations done by professionals at the scene are for. I am not so sure that arm chair quarterbacking by people on the internet will get us accurate understandings of what happened and it's that the in-accurate analysis that scares everyone. They don't want to say the wrong thing and get everybody going down the wrong path or get everybody's panties in a knot for the wrong reasons. 22. In terms of percentage of the aircraft produced that are still flying I understand that the 737 is pretty good compared to Airbus. Of course they've made a bunch of 737s so on a straight numbers side more of them have gone down, but on a percentage basis the number still flying is good. Now do I care which one I fly - nope not at all.
