anyone else noticed Christmas decorations still up and lit?
format replied to keithbar's topic in The Bonfire
Some people celebrate New Year on Jan 14th. "Orthodox New Year celebrations include dinner dances and traditional buffets among Orthodox Christian communities in the United States." http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/us/orthodox-new-year What goes around, comes later. -
I think it's the matter of mindset only. For instance, trade place with those and nothing will change. You'll still walk faster, trying not to delay a driver, even waving 'thanks'. Those will show you a finger while yelling "Hurry up asshole!" Most people are just plain stupid.

Very interesting

and I can't agree on this one. Common belief is: More jumpos - more knowledge Which is, I believe proper to say: utter BS (with an exception of me and sush)

The GOOD news is, there are three of us knowing what we don't know! P.S.: kudos to graph designer not including jump No's in a story

A guy stopped by a gipsy hooker, asking: "How much?" "It's thirty dollars or fifteen" "What's for thirty?" "Everything... front, back, mouth, ears, one hour or more." "What's for fifteen?" "Well... the same.. if you dont have thirty dollars"

Did you do night jump? If so, any advise?
format replied to SFBayArea's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You only must be aware of other canopies, prearranged landing pattern, visible landing zone and have to be familiar with non-visible outs just in case. Peace of cake. And if you don't repeat the jump - nothing will stick to remember of. I am very experienced What goes around, comes later. -

When is it OK to make/receive phone calls during a skydive?
format replied to NeoX's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wondered if I can make it. So I tried.. maybe 7 yrs ago. Couple of things happened 1. A hand grip was extraordinary strong, almost broke my phone 2. Network selection was by default 'Automatic' so it switched to a neighbored country provider which drained my credit Yup, I can do it under canopy What goes around, comes later. -

This video kinda explains why's that so, I read almost all about polarization but my beer was warming up so I quit getting it right edit: Get a sharp knife, peel off your altimeter, superglue it to your goggles (beer's cool) What goes around, comes later.

Does wind speed and gusts affect descent rate?
format replied to k_marr08's topic in Safety and Training
"Steady" is on paper only. What's in it is incalculable. edit: and oh yes, I don't believe your "identical" climb rate, there are numbers in there and, sometimes there are SURPRISING numbers (an "anomaly") which prove this thread futile. -

Does wind speed and gusts affect descent rate?

"Mr. Anonymous Troll" aka sky12345 may not be a troll, try responding not to his profile but his message. Your post has been a simple reminder of your Regular shutting down fresh '2014 thinking' (Oh yes, it's not seldom, occasionally, often or frequent... the word is "Regularly") You've been persistent in suggesting for me not to waste people's time than to read a 2003 thread on this same subject... so I did: there's a difference in people's perception then, that they're flying down faster whyle manouvering in high winds... and this thread is mostly with people who percieve that they're flying down SLOWER in highwinds. Read me summing these two threads up with a split moskito hair fearing your respond: Does wind speed and gusts affect descent rate? - since there's multilple factors - YES. Is it significant? - No. (MOST PROBABLY) Can you predict my flyght time? - Not really (I can not SEE wind shears and turbulence but I can see it later if you wear GO PRO). As for dropping a steel ball and/or maple seed in no wind vs. high winds, there is a difference which yoU CAN NOT calculate until it's happenED "Barometer, n.: An ingenious instrument which indicates what kind of weather we are having." "Geneticists: People who will tell you why you resemble your parents... and if you don't - why you should have." In time, this thread will be locked too. Futile read. What goes around, comes later. -

So, how come I've timed ~10% difference (with a stopwatch) in flight_time with your Canopy Glide Simulator between 'No wind' and '13mph wind'? (steady 'no input'; 'half input'; full input' flight)
