Sorry for maybe stupid question, could it be that you don't loosen chest strap? If you do, it seems like an extra wide slider, not meant for your main
-
Shouldn't that be another thread on people making Facebook selfies and consequences to mental "health"? Lily Camera - that's wonderful. In two years we'll see fantastic, unseen ever, skydiving/basejumping footage - Lily Camera based on. Especially educational

Once upon a time I used "S-turns" (left then right) to get where I imagined I should land. There was a highley loaded friend behid me who really tried to figure out where I'm going.. then finally quit and landed out. Whenever I meet him afterward, I feel gratitude for not swalowing my teeth at the time.. by him.

Bill, that doesn't sound correct. I was under the impression that deploying the reserve on a MARD system will only launch the reserve pilot chute and nothing else. If what you say is true I'd say that's a pretty big negative for MARDs. I'm no kissass I bet my bounce on Bills's angle edit: or when I read it again, "first you will cut away one side of the main"

Yes. Eventually, it made me thinking of various potential bad scenarios. For instance, a small tear on main canopy or some line looking like it's going to snap.. And you figure it to low to cutaway BUT you don't want to deploy reserve because it may entangle with main. So, is there a way to deploy reserve under main but safely?
-
Say it's too low when you realize your main is been teared. You'd like to have a reserve opened but there's no time for cutaway. Is there a way to deploy a reserve without messing with a potentially lethal main?

Here's some Internet wise stuff: If you have to ask - just don't do it. What goes around, comes later.

This camera is, to say at least, amazing... It opens a door to creating otherwise impossible videos. To have a programmable camera following a moving object on predetermined height and distance? For a thousand bucks? Wow! I hope they will manage to pull it off. Application is endless.

It is obious that Xaos-21 is a 7-cell canopy, divided by 3 (so it is a 21-cell canopy) and Xaos-27 is 9-cell canopy, divided by 3 "subcells" (so it's a 27-cell canopy) but I can't see what is Valkyrie's "main" cells number or simpler, how many cells does PD's Valkyrie canopy have?

In a full, quiet bar, comes in a man, sits alone and every couple of minutes says outloud: "Aww motherfucker" After an hour or so, one guy asked him: "What's up bro?" The guy says: "I'm blond, my wife is even blonder... we've just gotta a black baby" Everybody outloud: "AWW MOTHERFUCKER!"

I've just figured another incentive to NOT cutaway a downplane - suicide

What's your favorite thing to do on dropzone.com?
format replied to snugRugBug's topic in The Bonfire
I don't read comics anymore, last one I read maybe 35 years ago. In a way, the feeling I get by spending time on dropzone.com resemble reading comic books in my teens. I know I'm learning something very important BUT I can discuss it only with other nerds (skydivers). Heavy reading on the incidents, new stuff, old stuff busted, some jokes and so on. Feels more real than Superman... and I get to try it out -

Can I get any Job in skydiving world?
format replied to srikanth_1980m's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What is any job? Scrubbing toilets, washing tandem harnesses, packing sport rigs, packing tandems? Are you talking about work jumps? No offense but I hope you don't get work jumps most places unless you are heading off to the NZ school with a few hundred jumps under your belt already. I wouldn't want you to have more experience before trying to film myself and a tandem passenger. You wouldn't have enough experience for an AFF rating, and you could do coach jumps but that really isn't a full time thing. I know my DZO would give coach jumps to our aspiring local jumpers first, and it should be that way. [Quote] Given that I am Indian will employer be willing to sponsor work visa for me. Work visa's for skydiving in the US are extremely hard to come by. It normally isn't even possible, even if there is a willingness for a DZ to do so. There won't be willingness, work visa are expensive and difficult, and they aren't going to do this for a coach rated jumper, or a tandem packer. Good luck. If I was you I would try to get a placement in the US doing computer programming, and go to the DZ on the weekends. You can gain experience, still visit the US, and you will be able to feed and shelter yourself during the trip. Do that for a few times and you will have the experience for ratings. I know people want to cutaway, I get it I am a tax accountant that works 70 hours a week some parts of the year, and is a tandem instructor on the weekends. It is tempting at times, but when it rains all week I don't go broke. If I ever break myself I can still earn money as long as I can wheel myself into work in front of my PC. What an insightful post -

Getting unconscious/unable to deploy, saved by an AAD? I get it. The rest - I don't get it. Kill me for asking
-
I was implying that all people saved by RSL/AAD would not make a difference What goes around, comes later.
-
Now, why would I (or you) care for RSL saves. What would be the difference in skydivng world without all those - saved by RSL? This is a General discussion thread, try not to bother us with emotional response... please What goes around, comes later.

Until I could confidently pull PC, stable... it took me seven jumps. Why would I/you gamble with no skill to show?

Two guys, black and white, wind up in prison for couple of years. While entering the prison, white guy says: "Listen dude, in time, we're gonna get horny. Let's fuck each other only. That way, we'll avoid STD, AIDS and that. What do you think?" Black dude: "Yeah man, you're right, count on me". Three months later they both got horny so they meet to fuck each other. Black dude says: "I'll go first". White guy puts his hand on a wall and black does it from behind. Afterwards, white guy is preparing to fuck back the black fucker. So, black faced the wall. White guy starts jumping, trying to reach black's ass (black is a tall one) saying: "Come on man, help me out" Black dude: "O.K. ... I looove you"

Finally! The terminal velocity of a cat!
format replied to BleuCiel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Think of a feather and express the time needed for it to reach terminal velocity in milliseconds. Than reread your post. I reread yours and mine... and I am assuming, again, you wrote that you wonder if any living thing can reach terminal velocity in such a short distance (time). So, naturally, I made an extreme comparison with a feather. Harmfull intention (or so it appeared in my mind ). I think billions are at stake without cats (don't ask me how) and I like dogs.. even some fat people too What goes around, comes later. -
