As much as I dislike the religion, some of you refuse to accept that it works for some. Yes, I have said that it is a cult and it keeps people by guilt - but I have met a few people in my lifetime that are perfectly content with it and believe everything about it. I don't see how that is different from any other religion , which is why I have no religion. The main thing about religions is for security and beliefs. People do believe what the Witnesses preach. Yes, I disagree with everything they preach and do, but I won't judge someone for being in it and if it works for them, more power to them. One final thing, it is in my experience that being raised in the religion will lead to one or two things. Both are extreme. You will either, be like (A) my mother who cannot leave the religion, no matter how hard she tries or (B) you'll be extremely jaded and critical of any religion, like I am. Either way, it is from one extreme to the other.

Alright, I just watched my tandem skydive video and I realize how big of a dork I looked. Pale, the jumpmaster kept pushing my head back for the exit, the bright purple and green cap...etc. I looked like a complete dork. So the question is, does everyone look like dorks on video? Or does everyone look like dorks the first time? Or finally, was it just me? :D

May I ask a question? Have any of you ever been in the religion or currently in the religion? If not - I think you severely lack a good view of the religion. I say this because, my family are Jehovah Witnesses and I was raised in the religion. I was until I was around 13 and dissasocited myself from the religion. Why did I leave it? I have to agree, that in my opinion the religion is a cult . The religion is based off guilt and isolating the members. You feel guilty for everything you do. You isolate yourself from anyone not in the religion and close your mind to any other possiblities. For me, the religion did not work. With that said, I have seen my mother go in and out of the religion all my life. She leaves it for awhile, due to various things and then she feels incomplete and becomes extremely depressed. She goes back out of guilt. Which is the wrong reason for any religion. Guilt should not keep you anywhere, it being a relationship or a religion. Did you also know that as a religion Jehovah's Witnesses use to have the highest suicide rate? I say "use to", because I do not know if that stat has went down or up, but durin' the mid and late 90's it was indeed a fact and there was studies done on it. Anyways, if your friend or lover decides to join the Witnesses, all I can say is be supportive, because most likely they will need it. They'll either quickly realize it won't work out or they will become hooked. If they become hooked, it is most likely you're going to lose them as a friend or lover as the religion strictly prohibits any "worldly assiocation", which is what non - Witnesses are considered.

getting whuffo friends to jump...
LivingInClip replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How true. I've talked one friend into making an SL jump...she did, said she loved it, and has never been back since. I'm working on a few more friends right now, trying to get them to go the tandem route. I want my best friend to try it, and I think he may..but I feel bad for him, 'cause he's never even been in a plane before..that'd be one helluva plane ride for him. Nervous about the plane-ride, and the skydive...poor kid. -Kramer *Had first plane ride and dive at same time* Well - I will, come Nov 30th. Yes, it does suck. :d -
Looks like a helmet to me also - a blue helmet. I don't see a face or Birdman logo.

I typically wor three days a week, off four. I'm goin' to pull seven straight, then take 14 off. :D

Who cares if its almost the weekend? Some of us have to work until next Thursday! :( On vacation after that though , 14 whole days...Hope to get some jumps in, go to a football came and a concert. VACATION!

Fear manifesting in dreams. You can either (1) master the fear or (2) just give up the sport. Me, personally, I don't think you need to take the dreams so serious. I have dreams all the times that I may part of a wreck, but I don't stop driving.

While we are on the subject of this, my personal favorite is 'Drop Zone' (Starring Wesley Snipes). I love the amazing fact that people can drop out of airplanes without a rig, another person can wait around awhile, then decide to jump out also and catch up with that person, grab them with their legs and then pull the chute and land them to safety! I can't wait until I get to do that!

Floor mats. Three cd cases (around 120 cds altogether). Magazine (EGM)

The offical Beer list does not mention first tandem jump - is a case of beer warranted on your first tandem jump - if you plan on doin' a tandem then starting S/L course? Ah, the mind boggling questions!

Tool - Lateralis "Black and white...are all I see, in my infancy..Red and yellow then came to be..Reaching out to me...Let's me see..There is , so much more, beckons me, to look through to these infinate possibilties... Then for the kicker, near the end.. "over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind feed my will to feel this moment, urging me to cross the line reaching out to embrace the random reaching out to embrace whatever may come i embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow to feel inspired to fathom the power to witness the beauty to bathe in the fountain to swing on the spiral to swing on a spiral to... swing on a spiral of our divinity and still be a human" I'm not sure what it is, but I just love this song and it get's me thinking and hyped everytime.

why does she think manipulation will work on me?
LivingInClip replied to rocket's topic in The Bonfire
Having done a long distance relationship for over two years, goin' back and forth. Let me say, if you are having problems already, it does not get easier after you meet - which a lot of people think it will. It only gets harder and harder. I honestly, don't recommend a long distance relationship and I'd never do one again. -
Same situation. Haven't made first jump, but it consumes my thoughts and conversations. People are tired of hearing about it. Friends, family and work-mates want me to shut up. So , what do I do? I surf the 'net at work and talk on this board. :D

I won't say this war is justified one way or another. What I will say, is the goverment is eager to send us off to get killed or kill someone, but are not so eager to pay. Extremely screwed up, in my opinion.

18th. Found out the girl I was dating, was dating someone else...after I got the "present". Go figure.

Nah...I'd rate the worst drivers a tie between certain parts of Florida (typically central FL, Tampa through Orlando), Oregon (west of I-5 from the WA to CA borders) and suburban Connecticut. In a close second, Kentucky (Lexington), suburban Massachusetts (not Boston...for some reason, I have a soft spot for Boston drivers) and Atlanta. I can vouch for the Lexington, Kentucky one. I live about 30 mintues from Lexington and I hate driving there, esp. downtown Lexington. No one, I repeat, NO ONE knows how to drive.

Question: It is customary to tip after a tandem? I've heard it is and I've heard you don't. I, myself have never done a tandem jump so I have zero clue, but I am hopin' to do one Nov 30.th and if its custom to tip, I want to tip. I don't want to come off as an asshole, if that makes sense. After all - this guy is taking me up in the air and holds my life in his hands..so to speak.
-
hmm.. so guys, what do you like about your girl?
LivingInClip replied to TribalTalon's topic in The Bonfire
Uhm..I know what I liked about her, before she left. Gee, thanks for depressing me guy's. -
I know the feeling. I work a swing shift and I have a terrible time adjusting to the night shift. 'Bout the time I do adjust, it's time to go back to day shift..Argh! I went to work lastnight and got finished early, so got to come around 11:00 pm - but still didn't fall asleep until 2:00 am, and got back up at 6:00 am, so I can enjoy my whole one day off. Working sucks. I wish I was ten again..That was the greatest age.
