  4. And god knows you don't have the option of Meigs. Thanks a lot, Daley, you fuckin' piece of shit crook. I hope AOPA hires an assassin to take that fucker out. Surely they have one on the payroll, big organization like that? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

  6. Hey, guys, I didn't mean for a thread about "skydive-appropriate songs," I was singling out LANDING, and doing it without falling down. Got any contributions about that? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  7. I may be relatively alone in that I enjoy David Lee Roth's solo stuff -- or some of it, at least. I have the old album "Skyscraper" on CD, and have listened to it in spurts since the early '90s. It came back to mind when I was learning to skydive late 2003. When I began standing up my landings (took me the first few skydives to get it pretty regular) I kept thinking -- and singing out loud -- an excerpt from a song on that album called "Stand Up": "Staaaand up! Staaaand UP! The more you do it, the less you fall down! Staaand up! Staaand UP! Put your head in the clouds and your feet on the ground!" I just thought that anyone who is having trouble getting their stand-up landings down might check that song out and enjoy it. It's a great motivational learning tool. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  8. This post is either very close to the line, or over it. I'm leaning toward considering it the latter. You've got a lot of fucking nerve to pretend that your "If this WERE a poll" bullshit is NOT a backhanded personal attack. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  9. Also one of the better jokes in this thread. hehhehheh agreed. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  10. Hey, you could also have meant the fat ignorant drunkard legislator. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  11. Does George W. Bush rule Europe now? The first paragraph of your article here talks about Europe warming more quickly than the rest of the world. Either you're saying that America's policies about pollution are causing Europe climate to warm by remote control, or America should be bitching at the Europeans for fucking with the climate and causing global warming that will eventually harm us! And I agree with Kennedy that we are more likely seeing and recording changes to the environment that occur naturally with or without man's involvement. Come on, there have been ICE AGES for millions of years before man was around. When you stop and look at the fact that all we may be seeing is the end of the recession of the last ice age, you see a bigger picture and realize that if we existed in a different time we might have been finding ourselves arguing over how to stop the world from getting too COLD. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 12. It wouldn't matter. If something is not objectively true, it cannot in fact be proved. The most that could be done would be to convince people that it was proved, but somewhere in that proof would have to be a fallacy, making the entire proof false. You are talking about convincing, not proving. There is a huge difference. Proof exists only for things that are actually true. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  13. No. My point was, "I could not have known what I could not have known, and it is not right to chastise me for not having known it." And it has nothing to do with what I might do in the future. In the future, I could check up and down and sideways, and start crossing a city street, just as someone drops an air conditioner out a 50th floor window. You can't look back on my death by air conditioner and say, "He was negligent in deciding to cross the street even after all the checks he did because, hey, look, he never found out about the loose air conditioner!" - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  14. This is something I've always wondered about - now I have guns and I like my guns and would like to keep them - BUT - why in the hell would anyone need a bayonet stud on a rifle? And just how many people know how to use a bayonet without slicing themselves up? Why don't you first explain why, if we aren't hurting anyone with them, we should suffer prior restraint and be told that we can't have them? I mean, we ARE talking about mounting them on RIFLES. Doesn't the long-range lethality of a RIFLE sort of preempt the concern we should have about the danger of a bayonet?? I mean, you're talking about people who say that we need to make RIFLES "safer" by limiting their ability to be used as weapons within a range of, say, five feet. That's just brilliant. So before I go trying to justify why I WANT to be able to have a bayonetted rifle if I DESIRE one, I'd like you to explain what imperative there is to prevent me from having one. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 15. Ugh, god! John Kerry has dashing good looks?! The Melting Man??! Um, need we bring up the spectres of Barney Frank, James Traficant, Paul Simon, Ted Kennedy, Charles Schumer... Ooooh, those handsome Democrats!! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  16. This is a tautology. Everybody can and will agree that basing an invasion on "faulty intelligence" is a mistake! DUH! The issue is that fact that at the time of a decision, does one KNOW that the intelligence is faulty? If I am about to cross a street, I would be foolish to attempt to do so if I knew a car was coming. But if my best view down the street tells me that there is no car coming -- but I am simply unaware that there is one really flyin' around a blind curve I can't see around -- I am not truly negligent to step off the curb. I did my best to cross safely, but there were things outside my ability to know. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  17. I want the individual freedom to keep more of my own income. I want the individual freedom to own a handgun and carry it across the United States for personal protection. I'm waiting for the Democrats to speak well of these freedoms. I'm thinking I'll be waiting a lonnnng time. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  18. QuoteIf you were sending your kid to Harvard, you would simply assume it was an excellent area by reputation, right?Quote Um, not if there was a requirement that they bring along their own COFFINS because the risk of a murderous death was so high, no. And this was per your story... - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

  20. Well, Ron, come on. It's common knowledge that one of the reasons the U.S.A. disregards and has contempt for the rest of the world is because the rest of the world is cheap and petty! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  21. Only if your uh, glass is, uhh... half... uncool. Or something. Blue skies, - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  22. I -do- believe there was something about how many bullets the magazines could hold, so that's -something- to do with firing bullets. Yes, and it had nothing to do with how many magazines of the ten-round-limit you could purchase or possess. Hardly capable of the tremendous benefit the gun-banners are claiming this shitbag legislation had on gun violence. You are just gonna doggedly pretend that it's not evident on its face that the "assault weapons ban" could not, let alone did not, have the beneficial effects that the anti-gunners claim, are you? MY point is that it does not matter one iota whether the study was even conducted, because we don't need a study to tell us what is obvious. The AWB could not have had a significant effect on "assault weapons" used in crimes because in the first place, they were used in a tiny fraction of crimes in the first place. And the AWB could not have had a significant effect on lethality of guns because the same guns could be obtained, minus a few insignificant (but fun-to-have) accoutrements, after the ban, and the PRE-ban guns that already existed before the ban remain legal to own and purchase. So who gives a crap if this guy is biased, or his funding was conservative, or his study was unreleased? Do you need all that to tell you whether the ban was a piece of garbage or not? The rest of us don't. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  23. So... these countries that accept our fattening food -- and enjoy it -- they bear no responsibility for accepting it? Countries like China take American culture -- for better or worse -- and they eat it up. They eat our fast food garbage and they smoke our cigarettes. They're stupid enough to absorb the WORST of what we have to offer, and then you want to blame their willingness on US? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  24. Kid just died in NY choking on popcorn at a movie theater. Yeah, choking's a HOOT. I never laugh so hard as I do when people choke. And choking can happen only to idiots. No one smart ever choked, that's for sure. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
