Yeah, well, whether that's so or not, the only reason she was driving on a suspended license is because a call to the fucking clerk of court informed her that her license was NOT FUCKING SUSPENDED. It was on the say-so of the clerk of court that she figured she was okay to just keep on as she was and eventually have her scheduled court date on that speeding ticket. What recourse does she have for getting fucked over by the incompetence or LIES of the clerk of court? Nothing. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Violent Crime Rising Sharply in Some Cities

Well, it sounds like the cop was the typical muscle-head asshole, but still, breaking his knee? I'm not sure that even his captain who sent him in to take his lumps was real pleased to have the guy off the roster for however many weeks or months... I'm just sayin', was a broken body part really necessitated? Was it broken inadvertently? How good was the instructor if he couldn't do a demonstration, even a pain-inducing one, that did not result in actual damage? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... I feel bad for my people. It's actually proving to be much funnier than the original posting. A heart attack would qualify for that job. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Very nicely put! Chris You can call it "knowing" all you want. It's still not "knowing." It's "believing, without evidence or proof." How can anyone call that "knowing"? At most, it could be called "intuiting." I personally would never believe in a god that does the petty, ridiculous things that this judeo-christian god is supposed to have done. Why play this silly soap opera? God's all-powerful, why does he have to have this contest with the devil for the souls of mankind. Is he just bored? With a thought, he could unmake all he has made, and that would include satan. To pretend that he "needs" people is just absurd. What would anyone "need" out of people if one could will anything to be? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

My girlfriend wants to become a hooker.
peacefuljeffrey replied to unformed's topic in Speakers Corner
Sorry, dude. That's a shocker. I, for one, would run screaming from a girlfriend who would even entertain the idea of becoming a prostitute in anything remotely like a serious manner. They talk about warning signs about a woman being "not for you," but the things they mention are things like constant phone calls, possessiveness, nagginess... This one makes those others pale in comparison. Is it possible that part of the reason she's willing to do this is that she's not getting enough sex from you? Does she have unrequited fantasies about sex with strangers, or multiple partners, or swinging? I think you need to have a long talk with her, at the very least. But me, I would seriously consider a breakup. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" -
You got lucky. An asshole Royal Palm Beach motorcycle cop pulled over my girlfriend for speeding last week -- probably she was doing the normal speed everyone does, and she's a pretty good driver. She had a speeding ticket a few months ago, and the deadline passed for her to send in her ticket with her plea. By the time she did, her license was under suspension. She phoned in and they told her that now that they were in receipt of her ticket/plea, she had a court date, and her license was no longer under suspension. So the cop last week notifies her that she IS on a suspended license, and he confiscates it. I got a call from her at 9a.m. that she needs to be picked up (20 minutes away), because this fuckin' asshole cop would not even let her pull her car off the road to a parking lot. He left her in the right-turn lane of a busy three-lane street (that's 3 in each direction)! And all because some incompetent fuckin' bureaucrat lied to her and gave her a bullshit story that falsely led her to believe her license was considered valid. We took her to a county clerk office, where she found out that she had to pay $60 late fee for the first ticket, plus $10 to make up a replacement license card. If these fuckin' assholes had told her on the phone that she had to pay a late fee and her license would be fine, she'd have done that on the spot back then, before she got a ticket for driving on a suspended license. So instead of a plain old speeding ticket and driving away from that, this dickhead cop made her sit in traffic waiting for me. You just know he would have stopped her again if she'd tried to go the 30 yards to the next parking lot off the main street; and you just know he'd have called a tow-truck to remove her car if she'd left it where he forced her to stay -- in the middle of an active turn lane! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... I wish you luck in your employment search, but I have to wonder why the normal vibes don't work for you? Do you need something stronger than the ones that run on AA batteries? Or is it big, in terms of diameter, that you're looking for? j/k Good luck! - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

So the weapons-retention instructor, because he was insulted by the other guy's inattention and rudeness, felt justified in instigating a pissing contest during which he dislocated a police officer's arm and broke his leg at the knee? What's the point of this story? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" -
What will America under Martial Law be like.
peacefuljeffrey replied to Amazon's topic in Speakers Corner
Once can consult a large number of writings that make clear the founding fathers' intent, and their feelings regarding the people's ability to keep government in check. Because that amendment was written with a certain meaning, if the times have changed and it is no longer necessary, the amendment does not lose its force just for being no longer necessary -- it would have to be repealed. A law that no one uses, but which is still on the books, is still a law that has, well, the force of law. If a society feels it is obsolete, that society can go ahead and take it off the books, through the proper legal means. But until then, it's the law. The second amendment may have been written when the best people had were muskets, but the underlying principle has not changed: the people must retain the ability to use force so that any government that opts to turn tyrannical must fear them. But this is not the thread in which to discuss whether the government "with all its F-15s and tanks and missiles" needs to fear the populace. 80,000,000 gun owners fighting a guerrilla war against about a million military personnel (how many of them are pencil-pushers?) is not something to sneeze at. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" -
Um, dear, the Bible itself has been passed down to us by the very people I'm indicting as wishing to control and profit. If the Bible were written by God's own hand, that would be something different altogether. You are attempting to use as proof something that depends for its own credibility on the thing you wish to prove. The Bible is the tool of the people who want to control and profit from those who believe. They're playin' ya'll for a bunch of saps! Answer this question: If you followed the ten commandments and lived a "godly" life, and "spoke" with God regularly, but never went to church, would you be welcomed into heaven or not? I have heard people say that Christ himself did not want people to "follow" him as a religion. What of that? All this pomp and circumstance built up around the Christian religions is MAN-MADE, and it was ORDERED-UP by MAN, NOT GOD. How the HELL would one tell the difference?! Because you were in a building? More than you'd feel in God's SKY on a SKYDIVE, where it's just you and him?? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Thanks for another reason for thinking that smokers are friggin' morons. They line up to be fleeced for the price of cigarettes -- a product that gives them nothing, but makes them stink, and causes health deterioration. Does anyone believe that a smoker does things better because he smokes? Take a skydiver, or any other athlete, and have him smoke for a year. Do you think he is likely to be any better at his chosen activity after smoking for a year, or is it more likely that he'll actually be not as good? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

I voted "Yes" because I am in favor of anything that helps eliminate from the population any people dumb enough to consider smoking cigarettes. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

Uh, whuh? Says who?! More like a badge of her dumbness. Every try to kiss such a woman? The taste of her mouth makes ya wanna vomit. Oh don;t you worry, it goes both ways, we're having a right old laugh from this side too. Yeah, until they outlaw laughing for being socially insensitive, and jokes for being deprecatory and malicious. Violent Crime Rising Sharply in Some Cities

It is always fun to watch some one state a supposed fact and in the same sentence prove himself wrong. oh wait that's right you're anti gun....so if a criminal rapes your wife and kills your children you will just get on your knees and do what you do best... LOL!! He'll probably try to "reason" with the attacker, and "understand" why he feels the "need" to commit this crime. Or he'll use his "extensive martial arts training" against someone who has a knife or a gun. Or he'll grab the nearest "improvised weapon" (fireplace poker, wine bottle, pink vibrating anal dildo...) and go on the counterattack, never realizing that a handgun would be the ideal weapon with which to do so, because it enables a person to engage an opponent without having to get within harm's range of that person. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... So, you are alleging knowledge of why he "never got tenure at any of the many universities he peddled himself to"? Did he tell you in an email? Did they? You asked me the rhetorical question, and the clear implication of it is, "Jeff, the reason he never got tenure is because of his shoddy research practices." I, and likely others, would enjoy learning how you know this is fact. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" -
Yeah, so much for, "I'm done." And what an amazing coincidence: the set of people who agree with you is an exact overlay of the set of people who apparently "know how to think." How come you never mean it when you say you're finished with a thread? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

What I said was "pathetic" is your taking it upon yourself to tell us that because Larry the Cable Guy is a "privileged white male," he should not be permitted to make racial jokes. I think it's pathetic that you deign to tell us all who IS and IS NOT allowed the right to make certain jokes. As in, who died and left you Boss? - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... They say that God is everywhere. Why would a person even need to go to a "church location" to "connect with God"? Before there were churches, there was God, right? And there were people who had interacted with him and spoken with him etc. At what point did God actually say, "If you don't build a 'church' and then go to IT to worship ME, you are a sinner and I'll send ya to hell"? Sounds like a lot of bullshit, to me. PEOPLE came up with the idea of churches, and membership, and who-can-excommunicate-who-for-not-following-the-rules. Anyone who wants to be close with God can simply talk to him in their head. Who cares if you go to some over-decorated, money-spent-lavishly "church"? The only ones who care about that are the humans who intend to profit by forcing you to feel that need. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

But I get criticized for pointing out the fact that Brits are cheering legislations that will have unintended (but NOT unforeseeable) consequences just like what you mention here. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"

It is called a "democracy". People get what they ask for. You got an oil-money boy who wanted to finish daddy's war, and now the British are banning smoking. Wait a sec, here. First, it was, "Brits don't support living in a surveillance/police state, or the taking away of their liberties by their government," and now you're saying, "Yeah, we got these government actions because we're a democracy and that's what the people wanted. What of it?" So which is it? Is the current state of erosion of privacy and individual rights something you are getting from your government because it decided to foist it on you, or is it because your people, acting through your democracy, have indicated that they want this stuff? My original point was that the British are sitting down for this, and letting it happen, and are therefore culpable for it happening to them. Someone protested that, and said, "No no no, we're not in favor of giving away our rights." And now you are saying, "Yeah, it's by choice that we're giving away our rights -- we're a democracy, and that's how we made this decision. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... I have already read it. I guess I more or less believe that God (The Christian One) has forsaken me... even though I believe I have generally been a good christian. I thought that the overarching point of Christianity was that you were supposed to believe that no matter how shitty God makes it for you on earth, infinite paradise awaits you if you can just get through it with your faith intact. I personally think that is the biggest crock of shit in the universe, but some like it. There's a word for those people: ...I'm sure there is. Anyway, one wonders why God would give some people a lot of shit and others a wonderful earthly life, if they're both going to get paradise afterward. Why does God make it so easy to believe in him for some people, and so hard to believe in him for others? There are just soooo many glaring flaws in the whole construct, I stopped believing in it all in 6th grade, and then wondered why it didn't happen earlier. - -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind...
