  1. Uh oh... They didn't have a lot of photography equipment, did they? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  2. They just told you they watched you... Didn't want you to feel unloved! I posted a whole list of childhood memories last night, and then got a proxy error when I hit "post reply"! Let's see if I can remember a few. - Around three or four years old, I had no concept that objects could be so heavy that I could not lift them. I went out onto the driveway to my dad's green Duster, grabbed under the bumper, and quickly found out that little boys cannot lift 5,000 lb. Detroit steel! - I was a huge fan of the Batman t.v. series. Mom would safety-pin a blue bath towel around my neck as a cape. (Batman is probably why my favorite color is blue.) My brother, who was 15 when I was 6, would take me out to the back yard and we'd have "Batman Fights." These consisted of me trying my best to beat the shit out of my brother, and him flopping around when I'd hit him, pretending I'd really walloped him. He'd put me in all kinds of grips and holds and we'd rassle around on the grass. Great fun! - I figured I was old enough, at 6 or 7, to change a light bulb in the lamp in my room. I had unplugged it for safety, but when I went to plug it back in, apparently I bridged the two prongs of the plug with my thumb, because I felt a wicked stinging vibration in my hand. I ran screaming downstairs to where my family was in the den watching t.v., insisting, "I'm electrocuted! I'm electrocuted!" Needless to say, um, I was not. Blue skies, -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  3. I'm proud of both of you for workin' at quitting. I wish you both good luck succeeding. (I've never smoked, and don't really know how hard quitting is. But my parents struggled with it a good long while.) One request: It may be hard, but could you wait to discard the pack of cigarettes until you get home, or somewhere there's a trash can? The world doesn't need the litter, as admirable as the cause is...
  4. This is an article that I will retype here, which appeared in the Sun-Sentinel (south Florida newspaper) on 22 April 1999, following the school shooting in Littleton, Colorado (aka the Columbine Shooting): Now, what was that, again, about how Britain does not seek to impose its gun control on the U.S.? 'Cause I've seen it claimed here repeatedly that we Americans are out-of-line criticizing British laws because they never piously try to suggest that we do the same... Noooo, of course they don't. note: I also wonder if "much of the world" includes places like Zimbabwe and Somalia, where mobs hack SCORES to death with machetes and axes with stunning regularity. I'm sure they were really shocked at the deaths of what, 12 kids? Talk about hyperbole being used to inject bias into a "news" story. 5. Congratulations! What happened? The only weekend number I have to report is the winds at Sebastian! 15-25, all day long. Kinda made it a wasted trip to drive up Saturday night and camp out for Sunday; but at least I was able to pick up my reserve repack. I used it on 10/10/04 and on inspection a small tear was found in the reserve pilot chute, so I had to wait on a replacement from Sun Path (they were pretty prompt) and the repack. Next week I'll hopefully get to jump my own gear again!
  6. I was a pilot first and a skydiver second. Flying definitely is an aid to being a better skydiver. I hope you continue with flying lessons. Flying is amazing! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  7. No gun? Do your superiors not like you or something?? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  8. I do not feel I know you well enough at this point to be able to "efficiently" answer this question. How good are you at pissing a dude off? Are you all tattooed and menacing-looking? Do you skulk about in dark clothes in the middle of the night? Do you carry wallets, cellular phones, or other items in your hand regularly that might be mistaken for a weapon? -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  9. I agree with this statement whole-heartedly. But it does not address what I was talking about. Remember, I said this: My point is that I figure that many people who might not have had the guts to pull the trigger probably never find out that they could not have, because before it even comes down to that, the presence of the gun pointed at them sends the attackers fleeing. You are no doubt citing what is now a THOROUGHLY DEBUNKED, FLAWED STUDY by Dr. Arthur Kellerman who is an anti-gun activist and was funded by the anti-gun Centers for Disease Control, which looks not to find out IF guns are good or bad for citizens, but looks specifically to gather "proof" that they ARE bad. Kellerman's "22 times" study has not only been cited innumerable times with VARYING numbers in place of "22," (it started out as 43, which makes me wonder where you got 22...), it has been shredded by scholars and researchers, for reasons not least of which include the fact that Kellerman NEVER SUBMITTED HIS RESEARCH DATA FOR PEER REVIEW. I advise you to discontinue citing his so-called "study." It amounts to only so much agenda-drive CRAP. You are failing to recognize SERIOUS differences in the types of interactions with perps that exist between cops and homeowners/civilians. I wouldn't doubt that many of the "cop killed with own gun" scenarios occur because a wrestling match/brawl ensues during the attempt to apprehend and handcuff a suspect. This is an unlikely scenario to occur with a homeowner and a home invader. I'd imagine it's more of a situation where you'd either be shooting him or he'd be fleeing, but not that you order him to kneel with his ankles crossed, hands on his head, and you try to handcuff him, at which time he turns and tackles you, overpowers you, gets your gun and shoots you. Let's not pretend that police actions are so similar to home defense in this respect. And you are misrepresenting my belief on the subject if that is where you think I am coming from. Blue skies, -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  10. That's what everyone said in 2000 - never happened it got worse, despite reassurances of "great uniters", "compassionate conservatives" and lost popular votes. Ya gotta be kidding me. It was all on the backs of the conservatives to make the peace, huh? I agree with the prediction, but I feel it's going to be because the disgruntled losing democrats will simply pout and be petulant and obstructionist simply because they're indignant about losing. The nation spoke, people. Not only did it re-elect a conservative president, it increased the number of conservative (i.e. Republican) representatives in both houses of Congress. This kind of thing does not happen "despite the overwhelming wish of the country to adopt liberal policies," as they are trying to characterize it. Leftists are painting it out as though somehow control of the country was stolen from them -- as though with a bit of sleight-of-hand, conservatives could have rigged the huge number of elections they won to go in their favor. The conspiracy shrieks of the left are reaching into the schizophrenic range of the spectrum lately. The left will not meet the right anywhere near half-way, because they still insist that although they are not in the majority, they should get to set policy as though they were. Sorry, folks. To lose is to NOT get to call the shots! Get on board or move to some country you think is so ideal. I am not saying, "Get out if you don't like it." I'm saying that those seem to be the only two options. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  11. Lemme guess...Liberal part of town--> Nauseating combo of B.O., pot smoke, and Patchouli? LOmofoL!!! I'll bet you'll catch some falafel in there as well, maybe cilantro too. (of course, those things are good to smell) On the conservative side of town it's BBQ BBQ BBQ!! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  12. This is a laughably false assertion, and I would really dearly like to know what you think you are basing it on. Research? A study of some sort? Your own gut feeling?... Nothing solid, I can assure you of that. -Jeffrey The statement is based on my personal experience and experience of a few Texan friends on mine who owe guns and practice shooting a LOT. I used to be member of shooting club in Texas where I had a chance to watch hundreds of gun owners practicing with their own weapons. My opinion is that most of them would not be able to use their weapons effectively in a case of real danger. Believe me, knowing how to aim towards the target and pool the trigger is NOT enough. This is my personal opinion. It is based on very extensive military training and experience with to many different kinds of weapons to list here. However, if you know better and wish to educate me, I am ready to listen closely. Rather than depend on me for an authoritative finding, why don't we throw the question open? Please respond, readers, to the statement: "The vast majority of legal gun owners themselves are not skilled enough to use the weapons efficiently. Agree Disagree I myself disagree. I have not observed hundreds and hundreds of shooters, true, but I've observed some here and there, and for the most part they seem competent enough to keep all of their lead going downrange; to not shoot themselves or others accidentally; to not damage their firearms or the facilities in which they are shooting; et cetera. Not everyone is out there practicing to be able to engage an armed adversary, either. What is the standard of "using the weapons efficiently"? I know I'm not a quick-draw, and I have not taken any tactical classes. I recognize and accept the FACT that what I think about now, and what I may do if I find myself in a critical situation, may be two very different things. (That can be true even of people who have taken high-priced tactical training classes, too, btw.) I believe in the adage that, "You will do whatever you trained repeatedly to do, when confronted with an emergency -- and you won't do it nearly as well." -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 13. I didn't say it was hard and fast evidence or proof, now did I? I'm saying that a woman I met, who is my cousin's best friend, is a cop in NYC, and said that after the INITIAL suspicion that the election was the motivation for his suicide, it has come to light that the guy was having stress in his life due to trying to maintain two "different lives." I can see that being a deciding factor. What I can't figure out is why the gun laws in New York City didn't prevent him from having and using a gun there... I thought the point of gun laws was to keep them out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them, and NYC has some of the strictest gun laws around! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  14. Maybe he won't give a shit. Lol. OMG, I can't believe the shitstorm that started all about my question regarding bathrooms! Well, I was told that there'd be jumping going on, since the Caravan is still at the DZ and not down in the Keys. I surely wish I could have done the Keys Boogie, but I have only an A license and you need a C. (I'm getting set to process my B, though.) I'm going to drive up anyway, in about a half hour. It's nearly 2 a.m. right now and the drive is 1:40... but I'm used to going to bed late, and I am sick of driving up same-day and blowing the morning on the road. So if anyone's gonna be there, I'll see 'em.
  15. Um, because I was typing the question after hours on the same night I plan to drive up to stay over. They're already closed. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  16. My uncle died this week, and family came in from all over to be with us in south Florida. Among them was my cousin, of course, and her friend/housemate, a woman named Janet. Janet works as a detective with the NYPD in Queens, NY. We spoke for a while, and I found her to be a really nice person, actually. I asked her, during the course of conversation, if she knew anything about the guy who shot himself at the site of the World Trade Center. I mentioned I'd read that he was "upset about the election." She said, and I have to assume she's heard on the cop grapevine or something, that HE DID NOT KILL HIMSELF OVER THE ELECTION. SHE MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT HOW HE HAD A FAMILY IN ONE PLACE AND A GIRLFRIEND IN ANOTHER, or something like that. (I'm admittedly short on details.) All I know is that she told me that the cops already know that it was not a despondency over/protest of the re-election of G.W. Bush. Of course, why would newspapers bother to correct the original misinformation and make themselves look like they are stupid, irresponsible journalists who jumped the gun? They'll just figure that most people will never find out that there was more to the story, and everyone persists in their belief that the news always gets it more or less right. I have seen NO NEW stories locally here in Florida about the real story that Janet recounted. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  17. Does it count as "kinky" or "fetish" that the image of aliens probing your butt makes me horny? -Jeffrey yes Good! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  18. But these are people who think just like Europeans have said they do! They hated the current president, they wanted Kerry the liberal, they oppose the war in Iraq, they want socialized-everything... Trust me, they'll fit right in; ya won't even notice 'em! And "rejects"? Don't you know that they're the "smart people" among us idiot redneck American know-nothing religious nuts? They're not "rejects" -- they're ELITE! Who knows; if you're lucky, they'll come over there and tell YOU how to vote properly, and which candidates of yours are the obvious right choices for anyone who is not mentally retarded. -Jeffrey A better idea would be stick them all on one of your islands in the pacific an forget them or turn Alaska into a concentration camp for leftys Obviously when God said "line up for your brains" they thought he said trains and went for a ride. -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... 19. So who said I was talkin' about number ONE? Sorry, couldn't resist. So who's coming to join me?!
  20. I'm not with you, there. Just how hard do you think it would be for a woman to do harm to a guy who is clearly out to either rob, rape or kill her? I think you are witholding credit that most women deserve. Put most women in the presence of a rapist and I think they'll do what they need to do. -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  21. I am planning on driving up from West Palm Beach to Sebastian and camping out rather than waking up early down here and driving 1.7 hours only to arrive around load 4 or 5... Does anyone here know if they leave the bathrooms unlocked and accessible after/before hours at Sebastian? Thanks, -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  22. Santa Claus could! Come on, with that "all-over-the-world-in-one-night sleigh?! It'd be nothing for him! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
  23. I'm waiting for you to be told that you should modify your patterns and behavior if you're so worried about the crowd in your doctor's office. Just how irresponsible are you, dude?! You trying to bait someone into making you have to shoot him?! -Jeffrey -Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
