ok now that i have done quite a few more jumps on the suit. normal cruzing speed in neprtune was around 55mph - rolling shoulder and putting head down i managed 38mph. alot less strain than any of my old suits. my prediction is that any top end suit for skydiving will include the airlock technology. as far as base goes - i dont know, closing the tailwing down takes an extra second - changing body position into a sit at deployment could do the trick - not my area of expertise. has anyone base jumped the BLADE? - no inflight pictures yet ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

Pre-Cochstedt weekend @ Schaffen (info on sleeping/driving etc)

although she likes BILTONG (south africa style beef jerky) as much as any South African she still travels under her US passport ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~ -
calling this thread new back fly leg doesnt really justify just what you guys have done to the mach 1 - its a complety new look and feel. there are around 9 changes on the design i got this weekend - every change really innovative - bigger wings that, which work due to a kind of airlock, new cut away, new zip from top of suit to bottom, new solid leading edges, bigger much more aggresive air inlets to name a few. i think the airlock design work especially well on this suit because of the size of the wings - they now always stay inflated which is an incredible feeling - very very sold wing, they simply will never flap in the wind - i cant wait to get a few more people in it to give some more feedback/opinions - i like all the design V1, V2 , the S range with BM ect but this is really something new - than and the fact that i pay for my suits are my two disclaimers will post pics after weekend before off to begium and germany ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

same old arguments over and over - YAWN ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

Jarno - good post dude – bit of a catch 22 I think - because we fly our bodies, the most efficient body shape or wing will be a variable - but the only way to improve production would be better design. My 2c. So although 95% (or more) of the top end performance is attributed to the flyer the balance or less is made up from the individual suit. But if the designers (like in any individual racing sport - grand prix comes to mind) didn’t push the smallest increments of design improvements or rather performance improvement we would reach a point where the suit made no more difference because the top fliers would all be on a very close performance (which is where it is at the moment in my mind – there is no one suit that can guarantee MASSIVE improvement in flight performance – rather 3 or 4 designs that have all improved dramatically off old designs but all pretty equal as things stand today). In saying that our sport is quite new with hardly any performance competition yet –what we need is to put the best of the best athletes against each other and through the stats of competition after competition start making some assumptions/inferments/plausable statements and explore more and more. It’s a rock and a hard place really. And I’m sure the debates will continue in the meantime. ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

[url]http://www.phoenix-fly.com/products/wingsuit_ghost.htm interesting design - looks a bit like my March 1 anyone flown it yet ?? pls sort out the clicky someone - im struggling ! ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

quick question for the fliers whom own BLADES - is it any hassle at all to close the leg wing quickly - especially when you do a barrel roll forinstance - keeping the legwing open causes (when im slack) causes me to end up in a spin. Do the airlocks prevent you from quickly closing out the air in the wing ? that picture looks great - nice suit - would love to try one ! ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
-
im thinking demo then since seeing who can carve the closest to the slope wont be very prudent ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

nice leading edges ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

that red matter looks very nice ... nice tail wing ... what is the actual event or was it just a demo ... and who won if it was a competition ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~

The First South African Aerobatic Wingsuit Competition
pierre3636 replied to xwind's topic in Wing Suit Flying
as mentioned we tried to keep it very simple for judges and some of the beginner dudes. its a draw 3 rounds and 1 free round. we mixed the skills up so it does look a bit bouncy on the free round but thats the one with the back flying and backfly barrel rolls ect... we tried to put one less experieced pilot with one experieced pilot so that its a fair comp and everyone feels like they have achieved something. UNRELATED - i know its been mentioned before but check how my tail wing curve downwards when iim flying dirty. its quite cool and defies logic ... maybe its because the cells are so thin on the wing and the downwards speed so high thus forcing the cells very hard - dunno ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~ -
just you and me here - dont think they care much !! hope you ready for germany !!! its gonna ROCK ~ time is ~ time was ~ times past ~
