When you were a child, what Movie Creature scared U??
Shawndiver replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
Dimly remember seeing part of it when I was 5-6 years old. Freaked me out. Fast forward to when I was 20, they showed the 3-D version in the airmans annex one night. Laughed my ass off all during the movie. That night in bed, I couldn't close my eyes to save my life!! _________________ -
Great news Shannon!! I know the feelings you are going through, just went through it last week with my mother who just went through angioplasty for two blocked coronary arteries. Just know that if it is necessary, the techniques they are using these days are nothing short of amazing, so much better than even a few years ago. I mean, they placed devices in my mom's heart, and she was walking up the drive to her house unaided the next day!! Vibes to you and your Mamu, and know she knows you are there in spirit! _________________

The reporter doesn't have a clearance and has made no agreement to keep certain information secret. You do have a clearance (presumably) and have agreed to be accountable for such information. That's a pretty big difference. _______________________________________________ So, if I find a briefcase next to the road stuffed with classified information, scan it and post it up on a public web site, I should expect there to be no consequences as I have not made any such agreement? Just curious. _________________

Here's to many more for you, Pete! One of the best things about my coming back into the sport after 10 years was finding you still around. Congrats! _________________

WestCoast Wingsuit Weekend May 12-14th 2006
Shawndiver replied to bodypilot1's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Finally found a S3 that fit me, thanks Ed! It felt great to finally have the range to fly comfortably with others! Checks in the mail, and there is a good looking Classic II in the classified section... Shawn _________________ -
Tracking Derby 5/6 at Lodi - How did it go?

Tod Self was the winner, winds and conditions were beautiful, even Mad John and a few other Byron regulars were there. What were you thinking?? _________________ -
For those out there who are thinking about getting a tattoo, but are worried about this issue: http://www.newscientisttech.com/article.ns?id=mg19025495.600&feedId=online-news_rss20 _____________________________________________ IF YOU are planning to express your undying love for someone with a tattoo, you might want to wait a little while before going under the needle. New inks that are safer to use, and far easier to remove should you have a change of heart, are set to be launched next year. The US Food and Drug Administration has no standards for the safety of dyes used in body art. Carbon black, metal salts and other compounds more commonly used in printing or car paint are among those used. Heavy metals and other toxic chemicals in these pigments can seep into the lymph system, says Martin Schmieg, president of the company Freedom-2 in Philadelphia, which is planning to introduce a range of dyes that have already been approved by the FDA for use in cosmetics, food, drugs and medical devices. Such dyes have not been used in tattoos before as they are readily absorbed by the body. To get round this problem, Rox Anderson at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston has developed a way to encapsulate the dyes in protective polymer beads just 1 to 3 micrometres in diameter. This is small enough to allow them to be injected into the skin and absorbed by skin cells to form a tattoo. The pigment can be removed with a single laser treatment. This splits the beads open, dumping the dye into cells where it is absorbed. The tattoo then quickly fades away, in stark contrast to standard tattoo pigments. Applying a series of up to 10 laser treatments can usually bleach them, but only half of tattoos can be completely removed. NorCal SoCal BS Shut the fuck up you bastards!

So, can we use said cement to encase the feet of the lawyers, therefore solving two of California'a major problems at the same time? _________________ -
Sweet! go for it! Just remember, reverse launches and hang gliders don't mix! _________________

Hey! Easy now, I fly a bag wing too! Just a natural progression of performance, parachute, paraglider, hang glider!

Think very similiar to skydiving, with a greater physical requirement. (Think hucking a 70 lb glider up the hill over and over during student progression) One difference is that as soon as you are off student status, you will be expected to buy your own gear, not nearly as much rental options (and expensive if available!) for low timers as there is in skydiving. If you are lucky enough to live close to an aerotow park you can learn through tandem instruction, and skip the lugging the damn thing over and over again part...

As I volunteer at the local humane society here I made the mistake of foster homing an eight year old white labrador that arrived from another shelter. Of course I fell head over heels for her, but had many of the same concerns you have. The good news is that my parents (who only live 3 miles away) fell in love with her as well. Needless to say she is now adopted and every morning on the way to work I drop her off at my parents where she is spoiled rotten!

He is talking about coral colonies that had been living/growing for 800 years. The reefs themselves have been around for tens of thousands. No more living coral means no more replacement for the reef as the dead coral is destroyed by wind/wave action, and, of course now by mans interaction (meaning physical reef destruction by anchors, boats, souvenir hunting, etc.) Thats where all those white sand beaches came from! _________________

Then I looked out the window to see a Raven flying beside the plane and below him was a Racer running across the land like a fire bolt. It looked like absolute Xaos down there. So we land to find out that Tony's suit Had been ripped in the plane. He was forced to wear Bev's suit until we could get it fixed or he wouldn't be able to perform in the Javelin tornament. So they went to....... _________________________________________________ the front of the plane where they found an old nomex Flightsuit he could use instead. As they left the Air BASE, The Triathlon was in full swing along the beach. Even the Dolphins offshore seemed to be paying attention in the Cobalt blue waters... _________________

Then you should feel pretty comfortable with Lloyd Bridges in the movie "Hot Shots": "You know, I've personally flown over 194 missions and I was shot down on every one. Come to think of it, I've never landed a plane in my life." _________________

"Into Thin Air" by Jonathan Krakauer. When you think you have had a bad day, read into this one! "A Salty Piece of Land" by Jimmy Buffet A little on the light and fluffy side, but it so happened I picked it up for my Belize trip, without knowing a significant amount of it takes place in the town I was staying. "Imajica" by Clive Barker. Long read, amazing plot. _________________
