  2. I would agree if it was common. However there is a time and place. I have not held a student back yet, I have spent extra time. However as you state there are exceptions to the rule (your 78 year old senile man). I believe that other instructors need to realize that the time and person comes along so often. According to your own comment you are a crap instructor for "binning" that person. I don't believe this however. You simply found that time and person. The point to my rambling is do everything you can to help that person into the air on a solo, but realize once in a great while you will run into someone who is just better off doing a tandem. In my relatively low number of FJC students (few hundred) I have never held a student back nor had one back out in the door. for what its worth DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com
  3. Not everyone will get it. Even the best FJC instructor will run across a student that just doesn't pay enough attention (I.E. macho know it alls) or just aren't all "there" . Sometimes you just have to realize that the student is not ready (for whatever reason) to make an AFF skydive and take them on a tandem instead. But this is all my stupid opinion. I refuse to listen to a word I say, shoud you?
  4. Role reversals are normal during an eval dive. Yur CD will set the ground rules ahead of time, but PRECOURSE is really a huge help. Do not touch an evaluator past the knee/elbow, it is pretty much a guarantee roll over, unless of course he/she are already on their back :) Be aggressive. It is the most repeated statement in any course. During precourse, be over aggressive, find that point that the CD/Evaluator will give you an automatic unsat. Focus on your students hips to anticipate their movement. Act don't re-act. and of course ........Relax......... I will quit rambling now and let others throw in their two cents. And For what its worth this is in my experience in the several courses I have participated in as camera guy and/or evalutator. 5. We will have flotation gear available to buy at Marco Island. We are also looking into the possibility of having just some CO2 cartridges available, so you can bring your own device and just have a cartridge available when you get there. Not sure if it can/will work that way or if it is even finacially worth it, but we are looking into that as well. DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com

  7. I have a few jumps on both the 350 and 389. I really enjoyed flying them. My DZ has had both Icarus and EZ canopies. My personal take (I only have about 600 tandems). The toggle pressure is a bit higher than the Icarus I have jumped (330,365,400) but the it flys great and has a great flare. Our DZ had demos in both sizes. We kept the second one we got and plan on buying more in the future. DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com

    Infinity

I have owned Infinity rigs since Jan. 2000. They are extremely comfortable, especially under canopy. I have never had a problem with a flap or riser cover open. I really like the reserve cover for reserve pin checks, easy to get a good check in, but still very secure. The rig is built solid. Customer service is awesome as is delivery time.
  9. I have talked to my DZO about this and he seemed willing to have some there for sale. Since that conversation I have found out about that CO2 thing and flights and I will talk to him about this. I will update you and our website about this info as soon as I can. DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com

  11. That is still TBD. The main concern is the fuel prices at the Marco Island Airport are VERY HIGH, but somewhere between 20-25 would be a good guess. They are trying for the lower prices if fuel prices allow. DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com

  20. First of all, I didn't know you got a rig. Congrats, you can bring beer to the Christmas party . I don't see a problem with a 210 fitting in a rig built for a 190. However the question comes to what was the rig built for. (Just to give you an example of larger mains in rigs, My orange Infinity has had a 170 in it before) Just curious, what kind of 7-cell are you looking at ? DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com
  21. I will post one ASAP. Sunday at the earliest though. My buddy has the Optik. I have a DaBomb. He will get me some photos Sunday. DJ Marvin AFF I/E, Coach/E, USPA/UPT Tandem I/E http://www.theratingscenter.com
  22. Bonehead no longer makes onoe. Wish they would. Had a buddy of mine make one for me for my DaBomb. Since he has made Z Brackets for Optiks and other helmets. Just asked him about making one for someone else on here asking the same thing you are. He said $50. He based this on Boneheads old price of $75. It is made of aluminium light and durable. He does a great job. If you are interested PM me for more info. I can also send you a picture of an Optik with on of his Brackets.
