IMHO yes, otherwise what use would it be if everybody could see the original text? It would be just a waste of a mod's time. Ciao. Vale

The state of our futures: World vs Muslim militants
vpozzoli replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
Spot on! And what makes the US think they are so superior to other peoples that they feel they can interfere in their affairs and expect to be praised for their boundless arrogance? FYI I am an atheist and do not support any Theocracy whatsoever (not just an Islamic one), but I also respect the right of other peoples to decide for themselves without undue external interference. Ciao. Vale -
The state of our futures: World vs Muslim militants

He left out "shameless arrogance and superior attitude" This is priceless. He compiles a selective list of terrorist attacks carried out agains the US by Muslim terrorists (which does not automatically imply that they were religiously motivated, BTW) and then points out that said attacks were all carried out by muslims. This is tautological and also very cheap rhetoric. In the time span he refers to there were plenty of terrorist attacks agains the US NOT carried out by muslims, some were even carried out by Americans. Maybe they were also jealous of the US? Don't forget to tell him to give up dangerous sports and take up skydiving instead. Ciao Vale

I think you should sue them. Ciao. Vale

Where you doing a poised or a diving exit (I'm assuming a linked exit is out of the question with your jump numbers)? If you are doing a poised exit looking up (i.e. at the plane) helps you keep a good arch. But the "secret writing" thing is certainly funnier Ciao. Vale

Yeah, as an insight into some warped and deranged minds it surely is priceless. ciao Vale

Can you make a living as a tandem cameraman ?
vpozzoli replied to lintern's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Everybody has to pay tax on their earnings, in Europe as well in the USA. Just not everybody actually does. Like the choice of whether to jump or not this is a personal choice, and you personally assume all the associated risks. Cheers, Vale -
Jumping from a Plane in an Emergency

A quick search on DB Cooper turned up this interesting article. It even mentions dropozone.com, but only on the very last page -
Better not, she might keel over and hurt herself. Vale

This is not how the Catholic church sees it. A sin is a sin even if there is no physical action involved. To put it bluntly, being a homosexual is sinful and immoral (to Catholics), regardless of whether one actually has intercourse with other men or is celibate for the rest of his natural life. To draw a parallel, it is considered sinful just to lust after another man's woman, it is immaterial whether one does actually commit adultery with her or merely has a few wet dreams featuring the same woman. BTW I'm not saying I agree with it, I was raised a Catholic but am not one anymore. cheers Valentino

Must be the dumbest conspirator in the history of conspiracy. Italy switched to the Euro in 2002. the Italian lira (that's how it's spelled) is no longer legal tender. Guess she'll have a really hard time spending it. Sniff, sniff.... what is this smell?? Vale Edited to add: if they are referring to 'millions of Italian liras' she must have been a real bargain to whoever paid her off. I make several millions (the equivalent in Euros) a month, and I'm not exactly a rich guy.

I feel your pain man. I've been an astronomy and earth science enthusiast since I was a kid and I tell you if I had a cent for every piece of BS I've seen (mis)reported I wouldn't be complaining as much about the price of jump tickets today!

Guess if they all started running together in a West to East direction it might work. But since they are all fat slobs anyway there is very little chance of that Vale

You are pobably referring to the magnetic poles switching places (i.e North and South swapped). This is and unrelated phenomenon to the Erath's rotational axis moving around, which it actually does but not so much that the Earth can actually turn upside down. I don't have the actual figures but we're talking meters/year and the motion is quite erratic as it is caused by masses moving around because of things like earthquakes, the water cycle etc. Cheers, Vale Edited for spelling
-
This is a common misunderstading. The Earth's rotation is not slowing down by two milliseconds per day, it is slower than the standard 24h day by about two milliseconds. It's like all clocks are fast by two milliseconds/day, once in a while they need to be moved forward by one (leap) second to mantain the correct relationship between clock time and actual time of day. If the Earth were slowing down that much it would be already standing still, as it is already much older than that. Cheers, Valentino

Besides the obvious (seafood and wine) be sure to try the "focaccia di recco" (see pic). Unless you really hate cheese you'll absolutely love it. It shoul be available in any "panetteria" (bakery). Cheers, Valentino

Yeah. That robots.txt file referenced above does indeed include some 9/11 files, it also includes tons of other stuff for which no one, no matter how goofy, would claim a conspiracy. For example, Barney, the Bush's pet dog. I wonder what kind of conspiracy would surround press releases about Barney the dog? Maybe because of hist role in the invasion of Iraq? Disallow: /barney/iraq Although I really would like to know what part the dog played. Incidentally, the file contains 2280 disallow directives, 885 contain the substring "iraq". That's roughly 39% of them, enough to maybe be considered statistically significant. Cheers, Vale Edited for spelling
