  1. Funny how they always forget to mention the big chunk of fuselage (I believe it was the tail section) she landed inside of. Technically, she never really left the plane (what was left of it), so she does not really qualify as "freefall survivor". Cheers, Vale
  2. Deifinitely a scam, brilliant, but a scam nonetheless. Making a transfer in someone else's name through Western Union or whatever provides no guarantee to the seller. There is nothing preventing you from collecting the money and never actually paying for the goods. If they wanted a real guarantee they would have suggested a real escrow service, but that's obviously not what they're looking for. They will obviously cash it even if it's under your father's name (counterfeit ID?) without leaving any trace of their real identity. They're getting smarter every day Cheers, Vale
  3. Acqui Terme is pretty close: http://www.cadutalibera.it/mappa.htm and I'm told it's a nice dropzone with a Pilatus Porter. Their website is in Italian only, sorry about that. Cheers, Valentino
  4. This assumes that you knew about this beforehand. Nobody is omniscient, much less a newcomer to the sport. Let's say you find out because you are one of the injured jumpers on the plane that just crashed with an unlicensed pilot at the controls (Kallend's example). Let's say the outcome is you are paralized for life and unable to provide for yourself and your family. What would your reaction to this situation be: a) the DZO screwed up big time and this ruined my life, but I did sign the waiver so what the hell, life just happens b) sue him for all his worth, and not because of a desire for vengeance but because you need the frigging money to survive If it's option a) one could reasonably assume that this kind of unaccountabilty would actually encourage this kind of behaviour, and possibly attract lots of dishonest people to our sport. I fail to see how this could help the sport (and the public's perception of it) at all. Cheers, Valentino
  5. Could you at least calirfy what is actually under investigation? Is it the "facts" you reported or is it your own involvement? One cannot help but wonder. Vale
  6. You're welcome. Vale Edited to add: I feel really sorry for those who cannot refrain from making lame personal attacks even in such a silly thread.
  7. For those that don't get it Vale
  8. Bullshit. Todd Beamer & the others who made calls from the plane did NOT use cell phones. They used the Airfone inflight phone system. You know those little handsets embedded in the back of the seat on some commuter flights? They charge you a lot of $ per minute, but they work just find at any normal altitude. That's what they're for. They've been around since the late '70s. Todd Beamer picked up the receiver & dialed 0 & talked to the Airfone operator. So why were there NO transcripts from the voices of passengers during the trial? The released the transcripts from the hijackers. In order to have transcripts you need to have voice recordings. The CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder) records ambient sounds in the cockpit (hence the name!) There is no voice recorder in the passenger cabin. Unless the hijackers invited all the passengers to the cockpit for a jolly farewell party I don't see how we could possibly have recordings of the passengers' conversations in the first place. No recordings = no transcripts QED And the "cell phones don't work at altitude" argument is getting pretty stale by the way. Vale
  9. Here it is: Jeb Corliss' stunt never happened, it's all a government ploy to scare people into letting the NSA tap into everybody's phone! Ciao. Vale

  12. Then he lied when he registered the domain. You should ask David, I'm not associated with them and have olnly provided info that is on public record. Cheers, Vale
  13. Hi, PC2700 is the speed rating of the memory modules. While you can use faster memory (up to PC4000) you will not experience any increase in performance, as the motherboard will still drive the memory at the lower speed. Your best option is to buy some good brand PC2700 modules as opposed to some cheap no-brand faster memory that will give you no performance increase but might give you stability issues. As for the single 1024Mb modules, from the specs it looks like the maximum size module that is supported is 512Mb, a 1024Mb module should not work. Two 512Mb modules should work fine. Ciao, Vale
  14. You can buy your ticket online directly from Trenitalia here http://www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html (Engish version
  15. We should be perfectly safe as long as we do not get rid of the public phone sanitizers. Vale
  16. Let's hope it's old age. He'll be 75 by the next election. He could aim for the presidency but the president is not elected by popular vote and has very little power, so it will probably not be good enough for him. Vale
  17. HMM I wonder what company owns the SOURCE CODE running on the machines that count the votes....I dont suppose its a company that supports Berlusconi now would it.......That could never happen in any other country other than here. The votes are counted by hand. Vale
  18. Looks ultra-cool, but I think there might be some usability issues unless you actually work in a darkroom Ciao. Vale
  19. The fact that the money orders are surely not legit. I mean, what fool would send $3000 by mistake? Just send them back and stop answering their mails. Cheers, Vale
  20. It was deployed after a set delay (a few seconds) by an automated device. Vale
  21. Excuse me? Once upon a time, El Tortuga, I owned about 200 turtles and tortoises from around the world. That's how I met Beck's dad. When we split up, I sent my best tortoises to live with some aficionados in California. (By that time, all I owned were a testudo radiata from Madagascar, which is endangered, as well as some pancakes, stars and two geochelone sulcatas--about 18 turtles in all.) But in the time I had turtles, they always had a room (seperately zoned) and a yard of their own. My daughter's father still has quite the menagerie, and he has done some remarkable breeding in the past few years. So yeah, even one turtle gets a room. That's just the way it is. rl That's why your life is weird ... you are weird! Ciao Vale P.S. I absolutely love animals too (well, mostly cats)
  22. The fact that we can militarily or economically cripple any nation is a pretty good indication that we are the greatest. So a schoolyard bully is the greatest student? Fancy that. Vale If we keep racking up debt at the current rate, we won't be an economic bully much longer. $8.3 Trillion and rising fast. Then all you're be left with is the military option. Until military spending runs the country into the ground. Sound familiar? Vale
