  1. If ya look carefully, the velcro on the handle is the soft part (ie no hooks). The hook side is on the glove, which would make for an extremely interesting skydive should you find yourself in freefall with a sheep. (or very hairy dude who's jumping in just a t-shirt)
  2. Here in lil ol New Zealand we had a NZ$25 a jump Porter weekend down in New Plymouth last weekend. So thats US$17 per jump.
  3. I'm a bit hard of hearing, so absolutely *nuthin* wakes me. I have (apparently) slept through some pretty ferrocious storms & a major car crash outside the house. Snored right on through it all . But it's gotta be pitch black in the bedroom, no alarm clocks or TV's on standby or any light of any kind as that really pisses me off lol
  4. LOL. Shirt 5 is 2 gay guys. Somethin u aint telling us, Billy?
  5. Wow, 12 pages of mostly pedanticism. As one of the boards few homos, I can categorically state: I was born this way. Boobies repulse me...seriously! Had faith once, but lost it big time (around about the time I learnt about the big bang, I think) Believe that the bible is a good source of toilet roll...but watch out for paper cuts As Keith said - the church needs to leave us alone. We aint going anywhere. And as Agent Smith said in the Matrix - there will be more of us. Lots more. and IMHO religion will be irrelevant in a few years, something that only a few crackpots follow. Oh wait, just like in the US bible belt right? Oh, and Ratzinger really *DOES* look like something out of a B-movie horror film...have a look! Love n kisses Russ
  6. Come to New Zealand - vidiots can and do make a living out of skydiving in NZ. Most of the DZ's in NZ are geared towards the backpacker/traveller tandem market and are very slick, professional outfits. Taupo (centre of the North Island) is the worlds largest tandem dropzone in the world with three operators (2 have PAC 750's, the other has a Cessna). At the height of summer its not unusual for my DZ to do 200 tandems in one DAY in Taupo. Remember that the work is seasonal, the tourist season in NZ starts in Nov/Dec and finishes around March/April - a lot of guys work in NZ for the summer, then travel back to somewhere like the states or europe and work the summer in the northern hemisphere. Most DZ's seem prepared to assist with work permits (which you'd need to work in NZ). Russ
  7. Yup, here in NZ a common saying (regardless of the sport being played) is: 'I support 2 teams - NZ, and anyone playing Australia' It was SOOO good to see the poms kick the proverbial aussie arse
  8. I live in Auckland (came here on holiday 5yrs ago, fell in love with the place and never went home!) It's an AWESOME country. Random, off-the-top-of-my-head list of things worth seeing/doing: Kauri Forests in Northland, dig yourself your very own hot tub on Hot Water Beach (on Coromandel peninsula near Auckland). Jump with us out of our PAC-750XL over a huge lake with snow capped mountains in the background at Taupo , Wine tasting at the many vineyards in the Hawkes Bay. Zorb in Rotorua and see boiling mud/geothermal activity. take your hubby on a Tandem Bungy jump (mwwwahahaha!) in Taupo. Guided tour of Hobbiton (Lord of The Rings) in Matamata. Tongariro Crossing hike (if you're into hking, this is Awesome). And thats just a few things to do in the North Island! Russ
  9. 's ok....Air NZ have about 5 flights a day from LAX to Auckland. Daves the one lyin down, right?
  10. Faark. The cables comin out the back of those things look like those you see in electrical substations. Even Billy Vance'd be able to hear that
  11. Firstly, thats awesome news. Kudos to the Canadian Parliament. Apologies for slight hijack, but how does this work? Is there a law/agreement that lets US/Canadian citizens live in each others countries? (like the agreement between Australia & NZ) or would a US citizen still need to apply for Permanent Residence in order to live in Canada? Just curious. I can see myself living in Canada, but Definitely not the States. Might be useful info one day
  12. Wow....must be a Very slow day at work today mate lol
  13. The symphonic poem of the same name by Richard Strauss is also good (at full volume when you're belting down the motorway!) Glad you've found enlightenment WrongWay. As Morpheus said: Welcome to the Real world. Russ
  14. ekkkhkkkkk I'm coming back to the UK for a month in Aug, was planning on getting lots of jumps in (I've never jumped in the UK before). Doesn't look like thats gonna happen now. 18quid equates to NZ$47. We pay NZ$30 a lift, or $25 if you buy in bulk from Bigway. I'm shocked, seriously Russ
  15. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little ya, you're right....looks dead like some dopey kids tv muppett. In about 2 years time he'll be all over the tabloids in some drug scandal. Then become a pop star or something
  16. "I've had better looking roadkill" (in response to my mates question, "what do you think of that chick over there russ" at 3am and after several pints of beer)
  17. Very purty. Can I have the red one? as you dont need it anymore
  18. Actually, even New Zealand has had a terrorist incident, when the French bombed and sank the Rainbow Warrior, a Greenpeace ship moored in Auckland on its way to the Pacific in protest of French nuclear testing. Which, incidentally happened exactly 20 years ago today, on the 10th July 1985.
  19. For my fellow Brits in London, my heart goes out to you. Love & vibes to the families of those killed or injured and its Awesome to hear our London skydiving brothers & sisters are all OK Russ
  20. yeah, i've met our Matt, can confirm, he definitely has issues ps, Biarch, [Matt] when we goin jumpin??
  21. But that's a Civil Union / partnership. Not gay marriage.
  22. Interesting thread. Civil Unions (for both same/hetero sex couples) have been legal for 3-4 months now here in New Zealand. The sky hasn't fallen in as the moral right said it would. Presumably the same thing in Belgium, The Netherlands (that have permitted gay marriage) and also true I suspect in a lot of european countries that allow same-sex civil unions. Russ
