Help. Please! HOW do i get my mind off of skydiving for that period of 5 days otherwise known as the 'working week'?! I had my best day out at the DZ over the weekend and now im feeling all depressed because of the waste of the sunshine and blue skies outside. It's all i think about, before i goto sleep, when i wake up, all day at work. I laughed when i read other people writing this kinda stuff, but my god, it's got me now and it's a very serious and real problem! Yoga? The gym? A 2nd job? Masturbation!?!?! EDIT:Me and THAT haze on AFF3

It had the potential to be great, but almost looked like it was 'trying' to be a classic b-grade movie. One of those movies that'll be fun to watch in twenty years when people see how cheesy it is hehe I still enjoyed it though, the werewolf and dracula fighting was cool

Excellent read! Was having a good think about which direction to take post-AFF yesterday actually

Can't get through AFF - I can't turn :(
Brodes replied to rob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's relaxing both your mind AND your body too. On yesterdays jumps i closed my eyes, deep breathed and sang a song in my head on the way to altitude and it did amazing things for me, i pretty much overcame similar problems to yours. Dont forget to breath in freefall too! -

What do your instructors say? Have you seen video of yourself in freefall that you can work with? It sounds like you're almost trying 'too hard'. Im only a student, but you shouldn't need to make big movements to turn, its just a slight shift of your body position and the wind will do the rest. I had the same problems for two jumps but once i relaxed and 'let it flow' it became second nature. Where in oz are you? -
May be a silly question.....

I met someone just off their AFF today that used to be a gymnast, he said he accidently did two backflips the first time and the instructors didnt know what to think hehe -

Two weeks ago i did my AFF3 and it was horrible i was all over the place (i thought so anyway) but i still passed. I spent 2 weeks working out how to relax and today i totally nailed AFF4! I am now [email]completely stable in freefall and it makes a hugggge difference, the jump felt twice as long because i wasnt stressing out and it was easily the most fun ive ever had! (this was only 3 hours ago im still totally psyched up!!) I've got a birdsuit video with a nickelback song on it that i watch every morning, on the plane ride up i closed my eyes, did some deep breathing and sang that song in my head. It did wonders, i was really relaxed in freefall and mucking round with my JM pulling faces haha. I do believe once you get it right it'll become second nature but we'll wait till next week to see. Search for relaxing across the forums and take some notes from there, its what i did!!

We have to buy a carton of beer for the JM's if we drop ours during AFF, i stash mine away niceeeee and tight

From my 3 AFF jumps ive had line twists twice, my first jump my head was stuck in front of my risers because it was so twisted. Yesterdays' i was so pissed off at myself in freefall (turning body while pulling which caused the twists...) that i didnt even realise id kicked out of them.

A banana jump. Peel and eat a banana before pulling!
-
So....are you about to start jumping again? You'd better be

I'd always been intrigued by skydiving and one day had some spare cash so went for it, now ive fallen in love and dont think ill ever look back. I actually dont think its an overly dangerous sport either if you look after yourself. Parents..mine showed up at the DZ just before my first solo without me knowing, and that nite told me how extremely proud they were of me for doing it which made me feel great. I hope yours will support you just as much!

(since this will be moved to safety and training> anyways...) What happened to the 2-try rule? Is that a local thing, only taught at my DZ? I as taught never to try anything (regarding 'proceedures') more than two times. pulling your PC? no more than 2X. got a line over you want to clear? no more than two tugs. Got a horseshoe? try to clear 2X, no more. I was taught a 2 try rule...is that not universally taught? I was thinking the exact same thing, i was taught 2X's for a fast mal, 4X for a slow mal... We were also taught that line twists, slider down and closed end cells are IDIOSYNCRACIES that WILL happen and you just have to deal with them because they aren't malfunctions (in a sense..). My first AFF jump i had line twists in which my head was stuck in front of the risers and facing down but i kicked out easy enough and felt good too knowing we had spent a good amount of thoery time on these types of problems.

Dont know if this on topic, but i find myself looking up at the sky for no reason every now and then. I think i scare my friends

Im in australia so it's not 02/03/04 until next month, come down if you want to experience it again haha
-
YOu have the EXACT same story as the guy i did my AFF theory with, he is going for 4 and 5 tommorow and i havent even done level 2 yet! Not by my own choice though im dying to get back up, earth is TOTALLY overrated
-
I'll NEVER forget my first two seconds of freefall (sensory overload and all), and the first two seconds after pulling
-
Go watch the original movie for something different
-
Welcome, i just did my first AFF jump it is like nothing else!!
-
On our AFF1 we have to sign off left/right by using tongue pokes, maybe it just gets into the subconcious there and never leaves

What would you say a skydiver wears a helmet for?
Brodes replied to Conundrum's topic in The Bonfire
It would also do you a lot of good if you had a hard landing involving your head, or hit an obstacle/hazard. I know i kept hitting my head on exit, bang bang
