This is done with the canopies flying side by side on the same heading, and slowly easing in to touch the end cells of each canopy. This will not cause a turn unless one in in front of the other and runs into the steering lines of the other. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Ask the DZ if they can let you hang in a suspended harness. That way you can see how a solo harness feels and also analyze the pain you may feel to see if a different adjustment of the legstrap placement may work for you. Who knows, maybe you just left your car keys in your pocket, and the got under the strap. That's still better than a "roaming" testicle getting under a legstrap. Now there's some pain. kk _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Whoever did your training, missed a very basic safety hazard. We learned long ago that those boot hooks can be fatal - several people learning that as their last lesson in life. Those things have caused fatalities as far back as the '60s. They should always be covered. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

That's good advise. This subject was discussed a lot some time ago. Someone posted a photo of a traumatically-amputated ring finger - not pretty. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Another Legal Question - Neighbor McNasty
kkeenan replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In this particular case, the fence is across the area where swoopers would run out a landing in the prime, "back yard" landing area of this DZ. There is a large landing area, toward the airport, but this was the "experienced" area. The posts are steel, driven into the ground, with the barbed wire stretched tight between them. To my eye, as a visiting jumper, it looked like a "skydiver trap". The neighbor has an incredible case of the ass for the DZ, and has only recently escelated to this radical level. My whole purpose in starting this post was to see if it might be a good idea if someone, preferably a lawyer representing the DZ, wrote the neighbor a letter explaining the strategy that could be used against him in a hypothetical lawsuit. I still maintain that this is like the gun wired to the door to kill a burgler. This fence is far beyond anything needed for security. It is a clear message to the jumpers. I'm in Titusville, and the wind is just starting. There have already been a few tornadoes reported. This storm isn't too bad, but if a tornado tags you, it might as well be a Cat 5 hurricane. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Nexium is not a suppository. Read the directions. If you get it out quick, there should be enough to take orally. I mean, why waste it ? _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Right On, Steve !! That looks like half of the Old Fart CRWDogs I jump with.

Here’s a video of one of the locals showing that hurricanes can really be fun. At least the Emergency Rooms are usually open during a storm. This could catch on bigger than swooping... http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/weather/2008/08/19/florida.kite.boarder.wfor _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... About Security Equipment in Skydiving... Pease help me...
kkeenan replied to sdy's topic in Safety and Training
I used to hit the ground at terminal velocity a lot, but now have an Automatic Activation Device to open my reserve parachute. Sometimes, I would cut away too low for the reserve to open, but I now have a SkyHook system. My biggest problem lately seems to be hook-turning into the ground at high speed, causing multiple traumatic injuries and death. However, once in a while, I get hit by a swooper. That's usually fatal to both of us. I think a good security device would be a Laser Cannon, that can track an incoming swooper behind me and vaporize him before he can hit me. Roseanne Rosannadanna said it best, "You know, it's always something." _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Actually, there was already so much beer at the boogie, it almost went unnoticed. But she bought: 1. A Case for her first wrap 2. A Case for her first cutaway 3. A Case for the dude who followed the main into a bean field a zillion miles from the DZ.

Another Legal Question - Neighbor McNasty
kkeenan replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I jumped at a nice DZ recently, and heard a story about their unfriendly neighbor. Seems that the guy has property adjacent to the landing area of the DZ. He objected to landings on his property, and even to jumpers running out a landing and crossing the property line. He then erected a fence on the property line. This fence had steel poles and is topped with barbed wire - clearly intended to injure anyone who tries to climb it. It is pretty clear, also, that if someone hits this fence in the course of a parachute landing, they are going to be injured. My question is: What sort of liability is Neighbor McNasty setting himself up for ? Isn't this like wiring a shotgun to your door to kill a burgler, or putting steel stakes in your shrubs to discourage teenagers from driving over them ? If someone is injured by your "safeguards", isn't that the same as setting a deadly trap for them ? Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... We're leaving in an hour for the airport. Florida to Milwaukee this evening and see you all at the DZ in the morning. Woo Hoo !!

Just lay them in the bottom of the pack tray, so that the bag lays on top of them. Try to avoid putting any at the bottom, where the line stows will go. You can figure-8 them if there is a lot. Just make sure that they are laying in the order that they come out, i.e. lines leading to the bag on top and lines leading to risers on bottom. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... That makes two of us. You're just trying to get a rise out of the people here who truly care about your safety. As for me, I couldn't give a shit less whether you bounce. I'll take one of those bingo numbers, please. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
