Condolence thread for Danny Page and Bob Holler
kkeenan replied to PhreeZone's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
Tomrrow will be the second anniversary of this accident. I still miss Bob for many reasons. For most of that time I have hated that both names have been linked in the condolence thread - but there is nothing to be done about it. Death takes all equally, the good and responsible as well as the others. More have been killed since then by low-altitude canopy collisions. I have tried to be more alert and careful, as I know that others have - but not all - the accidents are still happening. I think that Bob'e best legacy to the sport is the attitude that he instilled in the folks that he worked with. Whether you had 100 jumps or 10,000, Bob had a way of making you look at your performance and figure out how to improve. He was incredibly talented. Yet, everything he did was oriented toward getting better - approaching perfection, bit by bit. It shouldn't take another person to make us try to do our best, but it always helps when you have a guide who nudges you in that direction. For that, I will miss you, Bob. Blue Skies. Do I NEED an A license right off the bat?

You'll fit right in. The whole sport is full of friendless antisocial psychos. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
I think the position in the '60s was known in the U.S. as the "French Frog Position", as it originated there. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

I just heard from a reliable source that the some Army folks will be performing a wingsuit jump this weekend from a C-17 at 35k ft. over Yuma AZ. It seems that the military is looking at this as a possible HALO insertion method. Any bets on how much distance they can cover ? Kevin K. p.s. If this info is SECRET, I don't remember where I heard it. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Skydiving Video Set to Van Halen's "Jump"?
kkeenan replied to Shotgun's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
LT - Thanks a million for contributing the video. That was a masterful job. It's a good thing that some pros took that on, because it came out perfectly. I can see why the band was impressed. As an old-time Texas jumper, it was very cool to watch. Thanks again, Kevin K. SCR-3022 _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -

How's this going ? I'd sure like to see it, either on YouTube or on a purchased disk. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
That's sure a lot of legstraps to attach. Don't lose count. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

I got my SCR at Cleveland TX in '73. I think its closing was due to an unfortunate combination of Texas jumpers and automatic weapons... Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

It's pretty easy to spot Dave Boatman in that one. Kevin k. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
I've known Mike Truffer since I moved to Fla. in '77. I've subscribed to Skydiving since the first issue. During a period of about 8 years, when I was not jumping, I still subscribed and read his magazine. I have always credited that for getting me back to jumping after that layoff. Good luck, Mike & Sue and Skydiving staff. Thanks for the great work in publishing the best skydiving publication ever. Kevin Keenan _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... What sucks about most of the red-light cameras is, as has been said, the shortening of the yellow light. Most companies who provide these systems take a cut of the fines as their payment. They require that the yellow light timing be adjusted to increase the violations and, hence, their profit. They will not provide the camera systems to any jurisdiction who refuses to adjust their "yellow light time". _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Hollywood Squares If you remember the original Hollywood Squares and it's comics, this may bring a tear to your eye. These great questions and answers are from the days when Hollywood Squares game show responses were spontaneous and clever [not scripted and often dull, as they are now]. I'm sure that there are some fine Skydive-type Christmas decorations out there displayed by the creative members of DZ.com. Please tell about - or better yet - post a photo of your Skydiving Santa, Swooping Baby Jesus, or CRW-stacked reindeer. Inquiring minds want to know... _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
