In the world of CRW, it is very common to switch canopies, adjust rigging, and generally mess with stuff enough that marking the risers (R - L) is a very good idea. It made enough sense to me that marking my freefall canopies was also a good idea. This is a very simple measure that can avoid a very dangerous problem. Of course, these days there are a lot more folks, with what you might think is a lot of experience, who would have no idea of how to disconnect and re-connect their 3-Rings without the help of a rigger. Ain't y'all goin' to wish Wendy a Happy Birthday ??

Toad Licking ? That's disgusting. Even Wendy wouldn't do that. Happy Birthday, Wen. Kevin3 _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Being a floater on a trail plane of a big-way RW load. When you're standing outside, looking at the whole formation of aircraft just before the exit starts. You can see the other floaters on their planes and see the base doing their count and exit. Then, seeing a shitload of jumpers come piling out of all the planes. I've always loved the visual impact of big-way exits. Another great sight is tracking away from the last point and looking back between your feet at the remaining formation breaking up and everyone leaving on their radials, spreading like a bombburst across the sky.

interesting sutiation - try'n'buy + cutaway.

Absolutely. You seem to be having a difficult time believing that people feel this way, even after several have written the same thing. Someone may jump a reserve packed by your favorite rigger, but to buy it unseen is another story. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Best way to improve canopy skills?
kkeenan replied to Deisel's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree with Mike. It seems that your question was answered quite well. Sarcasm comes off really dumb when coming from a Hundred Jump Wonder asking a silly question. Maybe Skybitch would be willing to give you her screen name. It seems that you deserve it more. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -

Did you expect them (or anyone) to buy your reserve without looking at it ? How did you expect to sell the reserve and keep the previous pack job intact ? Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
If you have to ask, then you're not qualified. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

I just saw this in another forum. Please excuse the cross-post, but this is so insightful. Kevin K. --------------------------------------- Canopy Formation Skydivers too scared to experience the horrors of free-fall often deploy their parachutes just as soon as they can after leaving the aircraft, and instead substitute the insanity of flying their parachutes into each other. If the hapless jumper manages to grab hold of some part of the other jumper's equipment, body or whatever, and if the canopies do not wrap themselves up into a tangled, spinning pin-wheel, nor rip themselves into shreds of worthless fabric, and if the suspension lines do not cut the jumpers in half or strip their skin clean to the bones, as they so often want to do, and if the canopies somehow miraculously stay inflated and flying in more or less the same direction, the resulting collision is called a canopy formation. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Yeah. In Canada, there's a paid EMT crew standing by at each DZ 24 hours a day... _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

When do you consider yourself a "skydiver"

kkeenan replied to mitsuman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Whatever it is, it certainly is NOT completing a Tandem jump. I cringe whenever I hear the announcements at a certain DZ following a Tandem, "Congratulations to our newest Skydiver, Joe Blow". I'm with Bill Von. When your Nationals medals make a lot of racket clanging together, you have a few World Records, and you've swooped down in freefall to catch a puppy that has fallen from the plane - then you're a Skydiver. Actually, it's a proven fact that your canopy dosen't care how hard you hit the ground. No canopy has ever been injured in a hard landing. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Sorry. I was laughing so hard after reading this part, that I couldn't get to the rest. Let me see if I understand you correctly. Are you saying that the U. S. government operates the military and trains military pilots and mechanics for the purpose of subsidizing the civilian airlines ?? I'm not sure if that is the biggest crock of shit ever posted on this site, but it certainly ranks way up there. Now that I've stopped laughing, I'll try to read the rest of your well-reasoned and intelligent post. Kevin Keenan _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Just do like Wendy, and exit with the D-bag under your arm. What could possibly go wrong ?? _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Not to split hairs, but it was an NF-104A, the rocket-augmented F-104. That ejection was pretty gnarly, but it still beat the alternative. And, yes, Joe Svec would have been way better off with an AAD. I always thought that was the wierdest thing...one guy survives the most dangerous incident and another guy dies doing a "safe" re-enactment of it. So...will you be getting that AAD now ? Kevin K.

There's a rig only its mother could love. It looks like they were using up the last of all colors of parapack when they made that one. If you ordered it custom made that way, please disregard the preceeding. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
