If you want to be close and aren't too fussy about accommodations, check with the DZ for info on the Bunkhouse or the IHOP. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter. Yours is a good idea for remembering her. Many riggers, especially at larger DZs, have experience in building containers for ash dives. If you're doing it this weekend, that may be a problem when it comes to fabricating something, but it's possible your rigger can suggest a solution. Kevin K.

If you're able to travel to the East, here are a couple that have good camping. I think most DZs have rules about "unattended dogs", but in camping areas, they're usually OK. http://www.skydivecarolina.com/index.html http://www.skydivecity.com/ _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... IF YOU SKYDIVE YOU MUST SEE THIS VIDEO!!!
kkeenan replied to Juanmacasnog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think the Vector Film Festival is a great idea. The "Fun Jumper" vid was exellent. I guess I was more editorializing on the OP who breathlessly blared out the thread subject in ALL CAPS. This was a good video, but after seeing it, I didn't feel that it was a MUST SEE video. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Yeah, yeah, now tell us about your Mad Skilzz. I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, Sangi. They are judged by the laws of physics. The old, the new, the cool and uncool, on a bad day, they all hit the ground at the same speed, with pretty much the same results. As for me, I know how to take care of myself. Judging by your shitty attitude and your moronic writing on this site, you do not. I am always happy to instruct and advise anyone who has a good attitude toward learning about skydiving. You seem to have a hatred of all who have put in the time and effort to learn about this sport and how to survive it, simply because you have not. So, as far as advising you, I could not care less if you ever learn a single thing. You are a textbook example of a DGIT (Dead Guy In Training). There is a crater waiting somewhere with your name on it, and dude, when you fill it, all that will mean to me is that I won't have to read your silly shit around here anymore. See the sig line below? You don't even fucking qualify. Kevin Keenan Florida, USA _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Interesting history. Thank you. The bottom line for jumpers is that if there are no airplanes or facilities, there is no jumping. Most jumpers are not too concerned about facts beyond whether the airplane is running and the DZ doors are open. To anyone who is interested, Skydive City is functioning normally. I and a lot of other people made plenty of jumps last weekend and had no issues other than some clouds now and then. The DZ is better than ever, with new facilities opening next month (new bar, etc.). All the weird stuff happening behind the scenes is entertaining to people who like that sort of thing, but it doesn't seem to be affecting operations at the DZ. Poor Tracking Skills in Europe ??
kkeenan replied to kkeenan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am certain that the thread title will be considered inflammatory. The actual title should have been, "Is opening separation given more emphasis in other parts of the world, or is it just coincidence that there were two collisions this weekend on FS jumps in UK and Italy." That would not fit in the title block. Now that you know the question, please discuss amongst yourselves. All nationalistic sentiments and insults of American jumpers will, as always, be accepted gracefully. Kevin Keenan Titusville, FL, USA -

You are easily amused. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Usual procedure now is for the rotating person to dock pretty high, with the target person's feet around the top of risers, but not in x-connectors. This keeps the stack as short as possible, to make the distance to rotate shorter. As the rotation progresses, people stay low in the lines, until reaching the #2 position. When the top person leaves to rotate, the #2 (who is now becoming #1) slides up the lines until his feet are at the canopy. This allow him to steer the stack and to leave when the rotating person docks on the bottom. As he leaves, the new #1 slides up, etc., etc. This is the procedure for competition. It takes some time to be able to do all this smoothly and quickly. It is also pretty easy to get in a hurry and screw up while trying to save a second or two. Vigil restrictions on door openings?
kkeenan replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The best place for questionable skydiving equipment is on the ground until the anomalies are understood and fixed. I sure don't want to be riding a tailless aircraft into the ground because someone thought they had figured out how to work around a known defect. Get real, people. This is not skateboarding. Ground all Vigils until the manufacturer provides a proper explanation. Kevin Keenan _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Good work.

So, it is your "friend" who would punch the guy for saying the wrong words to him. Sorry for my mistake. I should have never questioned your maturity. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

Maybe you're not used to people taking your words literally, but when you use the words, "Should have punched the fucker in the face," as your proposed solution to a verbal problem, what conclusion do you expect people to draw about your personality? Are there a lot of fistfights on your DZ ? If you are a typical jumper in Bosnia, it doesn't sound too friendly. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... God forbid that someone be "ridiculed" for fucking up a simple gear check to the point that they may have been killed. This is a sport in which lack of knowledge about one's equipment can truly be deadly. If it takes a bit of "ridiculing" to make that point, so be it. Certainly, there are many ways to make a point with someone. But if someone resents the lack of "kindness and gentleness" used in an effort to save their life, then they have their priorities misplaced. It's really hard to imagine anyone who has jumped at ZHills very much making a statement like this. Would you care to expand on the things that you think, "make the place so negative" ? Speaking for myself, I have had nothing but favorable experiences with the management and staff at SDC. Kevin Keenan _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Parachutes as Government Symbols

So, is there a DZ in Parachute, Colorado ? _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? -
Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke. Do the wingsuiters get offended if you ask whether their legstraps are connected ? Do the freefliers get bothered when you ask if their chest straps are hooked up ? Well, OK, sometimes they do. But people have died from these very things. I'll take annoyance over bloody, crushing, violent death any day. I, also, would like to know the details about the 3-ring mis-rigging. Just because "nobody was injured", doesn't mean there is not a problem with understanding and correctly operating the gear at your DZ. While it is true that deaths and injuries can occur on any jump, it is more common that they don't. Feel better now ? _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

As has been said, this is not correct. Individual jumpers can be cited by the FAA for violation of FARs (such as cloud clearance) and fined big bucks, payable in federal court. Kevin K. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
