I hate to be the one to tell you all, but cops do not shoot to kill. They shoot to stop. It just so happens center mass is the most effective way to stop someone. However, I am advocating cease fire once he's no longer a threat, and saying follow up head shot amount to an execution. Why is this a difficult concept for so many people? Dave, this is me, you know I'm not against defense of hearth and home. All I'm saying is I don't go from "oh, someone's in my home" to "kill the bastard" with nothing in between. Yeah, I was a little hot and didn't phrase that in the best possible way. We were discussing burglary, and items stolen during a B&E. Those sort of things you don't shoot someone over. If they are stealing the only way for my family to survive, that's another story. I've never been dependant on a mobile support like the Winnie is in your example, so I'm not sure how that would affect me. My closest experience would be backpacking in Europe, when my life was on my back and in my pockets. In that case, I did feel threatened a few times, and did wish for better means to defend myself should the need arise. Thankfully, it never got that far. However, if I turn my back then turn around to find someone making off with my backpack, wallet, and passport, I don't know that I'd shoot them. Really, I don't know that I could. I'll agree with you on the wastes of space and time. TR, yeah, I can go with you on that one. Woody Wislon - did his damnedest to ruin this country. We fought WWI because of him. He failed at every large venture he undertook. Ranks as one of my five worst all time. Harding - I'm leaning more towards hero than jackass, but not by much. He reminds me of Patton; he got the job done, but is it the job you hired him for? and yeah, he was probably a prick. FDR - hate him for domestic policy, think he worked too hard to involve us in WWII. He was one of the best politicians in history, have to respect him for that, even though you should fear him for it, too. Have to think he did well considering. Truman - inherited FDR's problems, made cold war worse, handled hot points well though. Ike - any man talking aobut giving nuclear mortar to the Army scares me a bit. wasn't all that spectacular in my mind. JFK - disagree with him on extending and encouraging FDR's programs, and most of the rest of his domestic, but he did a hell of a job on foreign policy. bay of pigs was everybody's fault, including his but not his alone. what could anyone have done better in the cuban missile or berlin crises? LBJ - most useless usurper in history. other than civil rights act, accomplished nothing and set other things further back. great society is more responsible for problems today than any other presidential initiative. Are you insinuating that everyone in California is a liberal pansy? I never said that. And I was just joking with you, hence the smiley face. But, I remember listening to the Russ Martin talk show here a few weeks ago and they were having a debate on this very issue. A single mom that made minimum wage called in and told her story of how she lost her job because someone stole her beater car and had to go on welfare to feed her kids. Possesions are important, and I dedicate a large part of my life acquiring them. If someone wants to take that away from me, I will have no hesitation using deadly force. It is also a big deterrent ot criminals to know that the dude you are going to rob is probably armed and would not hesitate to shoot you. Do you have trouble reading past the first sentence?
