For those of you who have said they have experience hiring people, how do you react when you pick up a resume to read puffery and doubletalk like this? I would light a match and watch the pretty flames myself. I usually show those to my co-workers and we have a laugh before they hit the bin. -- Rob

all else being equal yes, but I didn't say that, I said the resume would get more attention. The experience and degree get you the interview, if you don't have the degree, but you have plenty of experience, I'll still see what you know. I'm with you there, but really to me, it's all about getting to the interview. I was always told "your degree gets you your first job, your experience gets you your second job." Yes, the degree can play a part, but I think it is less important when there is a volume of work experience to draw from. -- Rob

this may be a loop back to earlier in the thread, but having been the hiring manager in a few spots, a resume coming across my desk with a degree in-field, and 2 years experience will get much more attention than a resume with only 2 years eperience (and no degree). That being said... If it was a degree in-field, plus 10 years experience, vs 10 years experience with no degree, the degree isn't going to add much to the decision to interview or not. -- Rob

My! You're being argumentative tonight! I'm not offended. You did not offend me (you're not that important in my life). I disagree with an administrative policy on this forum. You reminded me of it. I posted agreeing with part of your post. Yet you choose to troll me. Wheel? is that what you watch this late? -- Rob -

That's a low blow man Not cool, Lucky. Why? I'm blue-collar. I work with dumbshit mother fuckers all day that couldn't tell me the basic construction of congress, impeachemnt procedure, political history, what a GDP is and the diff between real and nominal GDP, yet these dumb motherfuckers have a definite and hard opinion of the court system and politics. - Ignorant = not knowing - Stupid = not sharp - Stupid and proud = all that rolled into the perspective of actual comprehensive understanding. I work with mostly the latter, but hey, that's blue-collar for ya. careful using the word ignorant. It's specifically called out in the "what is a PA" thread. I think it's BS because as you state, it simply means "not knowing". But still... I got called for it. Who did I call ignorant? I just defined it and said I work with people who are ignorant, stupid and proud, I don't think I have coworkers on here. Nice try. I'm not trying anything. (why so defensive though??) I still think it's BS that that word is specifically called out. -- Rob -

nothing yet. last I heard (a few months ago), phase 1 of the Cedar Park Schlitterbahn is supposed to open summer 2012, and the tunnel was slated to be part of phase 1. -- Rob

You show me a politician who's willing to introduce that legislation, and I'll show you a politician who won't get re-elected at the end of his term. -- Rob

It's been discussed many times since the recent AZ law passage. States are not supposed to be enforcing federal immigration law. I believe what was written (cut&paste from above) I believe you are wrong on two accounts. It wan't Gov Perry, nor was it "Asking for federal assistance". It was asking that the feds do their jobs and enforce immigration laws. Stuff like this is one reason I don't get in SC too often ... you obviously didn't bother to actually read my post. I said I wonder if he ran it BY Perry ... didn't say Perry made the request. so you did... mea culpa *** And from my viewpoint, if you're asking the feds to do something, that IS asking for federal assistance. Whether or not it is something they should already be doing or not is irrelevant. to assist implies helping with something. Asking the feds to do a job that the state isn't allowed to do isn't asking them to help enforce immigration laws, it's asking them to enforce immigration laws. (not with state assistance, or to assist the state in doing so) From my viewpoint, that's not asking for assistance, that's saying "hey buddy, do your job because I'm not allowed to do it." -- Rob

please re-read the 2nd and 10th amendments. You might then understand why gun prohibition can not be considered a states rights issue, but abortion was (at least until SCOTUS ruled). Please read the supremacy clause and you'll understand what I mean. Of course abortion used to be a state's issue, just as slavery used to be until the 14th came along, as southern states said it was federal so they didn't have to comply as long as they didn't make it federal; it (14th) unfucked a lot of state's rights issues. The point I was making is that when SCOTUS decisions are made, people decide if the court was activist or perfect and brilliant based upon the outcome rather than the reasoning. the point I was trying to make is that states rights don't apply when it comes to prohibiting guns, because the constitution protects those rights at the federal level. -- Rob -
oh well yes... you just didn't mention anything about that when you brought it up you seem to imply that you can see women on the streets and know (or assume) that they are prostitutes. -- Rob
-
some of the legal mexican immigrants I know are the most vocal against immigration reform. -- Rob
-
so you're assuming those women are prostitutes? Isn't that like assuming a brown guy driving a beat up car in a sanctuary city is an illegal immigrant? (by the way... watch how some of them drive, that shit puts people at risk, and they tend to not carry insurance on their vehicles, not show up in court) -- Rob

I'm sorry that your understanding of government is too limited to understand that, "State" means any level of government. Nice back peddle. he's a pro at that. -- Rob -

Arizona anti-photo camera group fails to get the required sigs
rhaig replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
I'm assuming this is about radar cameras to photograph speeders? TX had those many years ago (late 80s) but there were a couple of lawsuits and they quit using them. They were in white concrete posts (about 3 feet high and 1 foot across). For years after, I saw the posts on the road still. Some apparently still had the radar guns in them (I never owned a detector) and were effective at slowing people down even without the cameras. -- Rob -

So when is it OK to play the player and not the ball? I have seen you warn others for EXACTLY the same action. those rules don't apply to mods apparently. Yet another reason why I find it odd that mods get so deeply involved in heated discussions. -- Rob

I'd bet that if you tried a whole food plant based diet for a month, your taste buds would mature and you would enjoy food even more. It's amazing that on my lifestyle, I can smell fruits and vegetables from across the room, and those who consume animal products need to put the vegetation to their noses to smell it. that's the holier than thou vegetarian attitude right there that turns so many people off to the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle. You may not have meant it that way, but that's the way it came off. -- Rob

you're assuming a gun in hand turns one into a trigger happy cowboy incapable of rational thought. Didn't happen in any of the CHL states here when those laws were passed. -- Rob
