  1. Even YOUR logic isn't that bad!! He's a politician... of COURSE he's a hypocrite. -- Rob
  2. when did we lose our sense of humor and become politically correct automatons? No wonder this country is going to hell. Lighten the fuck up and take a joke already. (and at least he's getting more coverage than Ron Paul) -- Rob
  3. from the second link: This would only be true if the gas had no force behind it correct? We're still talking about pressurized gas leaving a confined space. Yes, the shape of the smoke trail would be different, but not an expanding sphere. -- Rob
  4. I wonder how many times he's been asked to buy someone a Mercedes Benz... -- Rob
  5. Of course not... didn't he lose them in that tragic boating accident? -- Rob
  6. http://www.politico.com/blogs/click/2012/02/samuel-l-jackson-rants-about-obama-race-114201.html?fb_ref=.Tzl_lK0a-Ig.like&fb_source=home_multiline that's right... in the end, he's just a politician just like all the other windbags out for number 1. -- Rob
  7. and so apparently, now NASA isn't concerned so much with warming, but with cooling (having nothing to do with greenhouse gasses). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2093264/Forget-global-warming--Cycle-25-need-worry-NASA-scientists-right-Thames-freezing-again.html -- Rob
  8. ok, so I got one word wrong... "larger". I'll concede that point. Find my lost reference earth, and we'll figure out the rest. Last time I had it was near the pea gravel pit... and someone was passing around tequila... That's the last thing I remember. -- Rob
  9. yes yes.... the earth is warmer than it used to be. The thing people argue over is the cause. Is it the tons of greenhouse gasses pumped out of cars and factories around the globe? Or is it the larger amount of greenhouse gasses coming out of active volcanoes? Were we (humans) REALLY that last straw? Or is this just another cycle in the warming/cooling trend we can see in historic temperature charts? And as you say... what will be the result? Let's compare the current earth with the experimental control that wasn't exposed to extra CO2 because of humans and we'll see what we can come up with. Oh wait... yeah, I lost that other one... my bad... I was drunk. -- Rob
  10. yup. I have a friend who used to work in that field. He basically isn't allowed to leave the country without permission. I think that's silly because whoever wanted that information could come to him, but he said it's meant to keep him from overseeing the setup of a facility. He said the physics of the process isn't unknown, but doing it safely, reliably, and consistently is a little more tricky. -- Rob

    USMC or SS?

I think the real problem is the education of the young men in that unit. It's possible that their history teachers (or whoever approved their curriculum) decided that the teaching about the activities of the SS might upset some of their students and just glossed over that little bit of history. (one of the problems with schools today) I won't speak directly for John's education, but having met him and jumped with him on numerous occasions, I suspect he knows plenty about what happened in WWII including the activities of the SS. -- Rob
  12. it's called "climate change" now. They started doing that since it quit warming a few years ago. -- Rob
  13. Does this mean Al Gore is a fake and making tons of $$ on the global warming? Well yes, but we all knew that. Does this mean that global warming is fake? Well, reading through the article, one of the very first things noted by the author is that this experiment will not parallel "the infrared radiative backscattering effect that makes up the greenhouse effect in our atmosphere". He goes on to show that the jar with more CO2 takes longer to heat up from direct conductive transmission of heat (not surprising as there is more mass to heat up -- CO2 is denser than air). -- Rob
  14. butbutbut.... personal attacks aren't allowed... the moderators would... oh... yeah... Those rules don't apply to the mods. I forgot. -- Rob
  15. I know this is SC and all, but really? That's your comeback? -- Rob
  16. see, now you're changing his claim to fit your agenda. what he said was "Five one-gallon plastic jugs of gunpowder in the garage is no more dangerous than the 5-gallon gas can used for the lawn mower. " Considering the context of the thread the implication at the end is "to a firefighter in a burning home". If the container is breached, both will create vigorous flareups in the fire. If you want to walk up to either container, open it up, and put your cigarette out in it, that's a different set of circumstances. (feel free to do so, but if there isn't video, it didn't happen) -- Rob

  18. So the media elites should ascertain the truthfulness and intent of a statement and spin it according to their own determinations, rather than just print the facts as-is and let the public decide for themselves? I should have put opinion tags around the second sentence. The media is going to determine the segment they report things under. And the order in which they are reported. Period. Otherwise we get just an alphabetical listing of news stories. While that might be fine for some web pages, a 30min broadcast show can't do that. You know as well as I that there is no such thing as truth. Only perception. A good reporter may try to write what actually happened, but their perceptions are tainted, no matter how much they try to cleanse those stories of perceptions, they will never be 100% "true". So to me, Trump blathering on about running indy, should belong in entertainment news, as it looks like he's just trying to get more airtime. -- Rob
  19. So the media should determine what they think is best and then give the public only the information which works towards that goal? well, in this case in seems like the Candidate is promoting his failing TV show, just like when he pretended he was going to run last year. The media should determine what segment a story runs under. "Trump bluffs about running again" should go under entertainment, not election news. -- Rob
  20. I think we need to propose a corollary to Godwin's law. "Quade's law" - As a DZ.com thread grows longer, the likelihood that it will be come "Bush's fault" grows. -- Rob
  21. right? I was telling a buddy of mine about that. I came back from barcelona drinking proper macchiatos, and got dragged to a starbucks. Habit kicked in, ordered a macchiato (I wasn't paying). I got this syruppy crap. -- Rob
  22. I never got to charbucks. But I will on the 14th. -- Rob
