  1. clearly this is Bush's fault. -- Rob
  2. The way he tested it was with a metal spring, though there are some models of printable springs. I dont know their life, but I cant think it would be too long. -- Rob
  3. Did they have Janet Reno as a consultant? -- Rob
  4. no man... that's just what he wants you to think. He really dragged LL Cool J in there and escaped through a tunnel. The gunshot was him killing LL Cool J, and then the collapsed the tunnel behind him. meanwhile he's long gone man... yeah... that's the ticket. -- Rob
  5. Mosin's are fun and cheap to shoot (less cheap now than a couple of years ago). I got mine mainly because of the price of the ammunition. I intended to use it to build skills that would transfer to other rifles. For fun you should look up the humorous AR vs AK vs Mosin comparison charts. There are many versions. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm -- Rob
  6. I read over their site and did some basic math a few weeks ago. They want you to start paying on your lease before they even break ground. To me this sounds like a great way to steal a bunch of peoples money. Take payments for a couple of years, declare that you couldn't find a suitable location, declare bankruptcy, flee. Even if you return a large portion of the money you were paid, it's a huge cash cow. -- Rob
  7. That's the point right there. When electric cars can fully re-charge as quickly as liquid-fueled cars, and consistently have the same power and range, then they can look to fill the same niche. In the meantime, I'm hoarding dilithium. But I can't tell you why. Yet. Li2 is a lie, too. Yeah, right. Next thing you'll be telling us warp drive is impossible, too. Obviously you're in on it. Does anyone else notice that Hollywood depiction of warp drive and halucinogens are indistinguishable from each other? What do you mean, "Hollywood depiction"? you know... as opposed to in reality -- Rob
  8. I've always found that an odd technicality. "Quit trolling" is acceptable, because it addresses the words, but "you're a troll" is not because it addresses the person. Of course, where on the spectrum should "get a brain or shut the fuck up" fall? It's a suggested action, that makes some pretty straightforward implications. Is it a personal attack? Apparently not. Still having trouble with that double standard? trouble? not really... I totally accept that your personal attacks are ignored by the mods here and that if I were to tell you to "shut the fuck up or get a brain" I'd get a nice little warning or an immediate timeout. I for one welcome our insect overlords. -- Rob

    Failure

I suppose with multiple gun threads starting daily, it was only a matter of time before the multiple threads per topic trend spread out. electric vehicles tried to be normal vehicles. That's why they failed. (well, one of the reasons) There are designs out there that can succeed. When we try to ensure as little change as possible, you end up with overly complicated, expensive hardware. Simplify. -- Rob
  10. so let's imaging the gorilla grabs me and is running to safety when he gets shot in the back with a 7.62 round. He's going to get pissed, and either fling me at the enemy, or toss me down to the ground and take off running. hmmm.... scrawny medic ftw -- Rob

  12. Are you saying that somewhere, deep down, we want you on that wall? We need you on that wall? -- Rob
  13. Careful.. Once the mods wake up they might see this blatant PA and call you on it. Oh wait. You're on the same side of the argument as the mods in this forum... You get a pass. -- Rob
  14. Gotta wonder I heard a very good argument made by a women as to why she liked using an AR type rifer for home defense. Her point was very simple Muzzel control AR type rifles in 5.56 have very little recoil Especially when compared to a shotgun and their modular design makes it easier to configure them to better fit a smaller body frame. -- Rob
  15. when I do business with corporations, I use plastic because it's easier. When I do business with individuals, I use cash because it's easier for them. (unless they request otherwise) All outlawing cash transactions would do would be to drive the cash businesses underground. Any dent it might put in illegal activities (tax based I'm assuming based on your context) would be outweighed by the increase in tax fraud caused by underground cash businesses. -- Rob
  16. I was already corrected about that quote http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4433582#4433582 -- Rob
  17. My mom's proud of me. That's good enough for me. Does she tell you, you're smart too? no, but his wife says "no honey, the size is fine" -- Rob
  18. well, if I'd referenced one person in particular you might have reason to complain. But PA's here have to be much harsher and pointed before anything happens. Otherwise there would be 2 or 3 people allowed to post here. If calling a group of people that believed something "tin foil hatters" was the standard for a PA on this forum, we have a few mods that would have to ban themselves. harden up. It will help you in the big blue room as well. -- Rob
  19. so I thought we were talking about a home invasion robbery here. Did you change the scenario without telling us? Are you a physics professor too? "what? oh so sorry sir, you don't have a gun. Here's the baseball bat you left by the front door we just broke. Speaking of which, here's $100 we stole from your neighbor. That should fix the door. So sorry.. 'DAVE!! GET YOUR DICK OUT OF THE WIFE AND LETS GO!!'" Is that how it goes? -- Rob
  20. what would he have done without the gun? Wait, you mean not having a gun doesn't add any options to the situation? hmmm... -- Rob
  21. Here. ya know... I don't often jump onboard with the prof here... sometimes I go out of my way to fuck with him. But this is silly. Conflicting reports? Yup... different people, see the same events different ways. It's funny that way. Same people? Yup. Memory is strange that way. It incorporates other ideas from other accounts of the story into memory even if they weren't observed by the person recalling the event. we never know the truth about any event that isn't recorded from all angles. We can only hope to come to the closest description of it through reassembling events by hearing them from people who directly witnessed them. loosen your tinfoil hats. they are too tight. -- Rob
  22. Please provide a bill number. semantics. You know what she's proposing. yes, it is speculation causing the price to rise. No, there has been no NATIONAL bill set forth to ban magazines over a certain size. You earlier said "there is no proposed legislation" you didn't state the scope of your declaration. So if you're going to be nit-picky, so will I. -- Rob
  23. I attended a recent trainers seminar that asserted the exact opposite. Between recoil management, target acquisition, and the precision that might be needed in a shoot/no-shoot situation, a shotgun loses. If you assume that you only need to fire a single shot, AND there is nobody else in the house, then go get your shotgun. If you might have to fire more than one round, or you might have to miss someone who is partially covering your target, then a rifle is better. As for stopping power, if you train mightily with your shotgun, you can unload them quite fast on target. If you put the same amount of training into an AR platform, you can put more lead downrange on target with your AR. It's still a personal preference thing, but given recoil management and how important shot placement is (one shot stops are mythical) my choice is not for a shotgun. A carbine seems like a much more versatile home defense platform. don't get me wrong, I still want a shotgun, but for entirely different reasons :) -- Rob
