  1. You're in for a great time and good workout. I got to play in the tunnel for an hour (4x15min) last month and it was a blast. I'm in pretty decent shape, but I've never been so sore in some odd places. As far as equipment, they have everything you need. I bought all my own, but ended up using theirs. Mostly, because I was getting freefly coaching and at 200lbs I needed to wear a much more baggy suit than I usually do. If you're under 180lbs or are doing belly (or back) flying you should be all good with your regular suit. They didn't charge me for equipment use, but I was paying for tunnel time and coaching. I don't know if that makes a difference. Have a great time! Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  2. I'm waiting for my copy of Brian Germain's Vertical Journey. I think its been out for quite a while so I'm not sure how up to date it is. But, if its anything like his canopy book (The Parachute and Its Pilot), it should be pretty good stuff. It used to be distributed with a VHS tape, but from what I understand, they are in the process of putting everything on DVD. Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  3. Just an all around good guy. Always had a smile and something nice to say. Meant a lot when I was just coming off student status and trying to get comfortable on a big DZ. Thanks Todd, heal up fast! Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  4. I saw someone wearing one in Perris last weekend. Looked pretty slick IMO, but I wonder how good the chin protection can really be with the way it opens up (i.e. buckle on chin). I'd bet its more than fine for minor impacts to that area though. Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com

    Wind Tunnel

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think there is a tunnel open for skydivers yet in the UK. The following two sites have been referenced in other threads as two (hopefully) upcoming possibilities... http://www.skyventure.co.uk/skyventure.html?/latest_information.html http://www.extremebodyflight.co.uk/ Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  6. I'm a beginning and very UNaccomplished freeflier. Therefore, everything seems comepletely new to me. But, you're right in the sense that the goal should be flying the body regardless of orientation. I should have stated myself differently. The atmonauti style, or set of orientations, is simply that...a set of orientations. Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  7. Check out http://www.atmonauti.com/. Another thread recently pointed to this site. I was always confused about the difference between atmonauti and a steep track, but thats all cleared up now. Atmonauti is a whole different way of flying. Now if I could only do it... Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  8. Has anyone stayed in the bunk houses? Are they similar to the IHOP or is that wishful thinking? Dan, I'll be out there May 20-23 for some tunnel time and fun jumping. Maybe I'll run into you. Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  9. No kidding. I still have chills after the drive back to Tucson from Skydive AZ. TJ was nice enough to share some footage on the way to altitude. Talk about skills! Congrats to everyone. Gives a newbie like me some serious inspiration. Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  10. Perris Tunnel, here I come. Set up an hour with the Freefly Mega Center guys. Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  11. I can only speak from my own experience as someone with a BS in CS pursuing their MBA. The math certainly helped develop problem solving and abstract thinking skills (both of which are usually important in software development), but in 4 years I have never once used vector calculus or differential equations directly. In fact, I would have one hell of a time trying to work out any thing of that sort now. If you're talking strictly about professional advancement, I wouldn't stress out too much about the details between BS or BA as long as your are getting the practical and critical thinking skills you need. I don't know what your program is like, but mine left a serious gap between the classroom and real-world application. If at all possible I'd suggest some sort of internship or part-time CS-related job away from school to see how things translate to the private sector. Plus, as Phree said, you can't beat experience. Good call on the MBA. I have a few months left until I get mine. If nothing else it has certainly opened my eyes to a lot of issues I hadn't thought about before. Never hurts the resume either. I have come across a number of companies where a huge breakdown exists between their tech and business guys (and gals). Anyways, enough putting off my homework. Good luck. 12. Singed up last week for my first hour in the Perris tunnel next month with the Freefly Mega Center guys. Can't freakin' wait! I'm sure I'll be fiendin' hard for more. What's a kidney go for on the black market these days? You only NEED one, right? Arizona Drive 4-Way VFS - www.DriveVFS.com
  13. Does sound pretty exciting, huh? I actually contacted the email address at the end of the article about a month ago and was told their crews are currently full for the Guyana mission. It sounded like they may have some more upcoming stuff though. I wasn't given any specifics but did register with them to be notified if/when something was going on.
