  1. you win the "missed point" award for this thread. "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
  2. thanks for the good laugh. "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
  3. the "just following orders" defense does not cut it. it didn't absolve the germans after WW2 and it won't now. there are several techniques that are commonly used in interrogations that are designed to scare or discomfort the prisoner. this one, if sanctioned by the army, went too far and the person that took it too far is guilty of negligent homicide. there's no two ways to cut it. he is guilty and the sentence was imposed, as it should be. whether it was too light or not is a matter of debate. 4. it means negligent behavior on the part of the officer that led to the death of the prisoner. i agree that the sentence was very light. we'll never know the circumstances in full but, it sure seems that the judge went easy doesn't it. edit: according to the article, the jury imposed the sentence, not a judge; interesting. 5. when you say convicted of killing an iraqi...what exactly was the conviction? there is no law that says "you can't kill iraqis." the law would be murder, manslaughter, conspiracy, etc. one of the things you must prove in murder cases is the element of intent. it sounds like the officer is guilty of manslaughter. the sentence that he/she received sounds light to me but, in any case, i don't think this person was convicted of murder in any of its caveats. lawrocket? here's a good one for you, although it's military law. 6. there is a definite difference between cold air and warm air and it is in their densities. cold air is more dense than warm air. it has been noted that hard openings are more likely at higher altitudes where the air is thinner so, there might be a correlation there. 7. absolutely...the minute you become incapable of being able to joke about the things you normally take seriously is the same minute that you lose perspective. in the case of christianity, there obviously have been a large number of people turned off by the overbearing, holier-than-thou, super christians that have lost sight of the fact that one of the main tennants of the religion is humility. it's fine to believe strongly but, you won't win hearts and minds by wagging fingers and yelling. 8. thanks for the update...but i certainly won't be holding my breath. when i pre-ordered mine last august, i was sure that i'd have it before march of this year....oops! "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
  9. another stark example of how common sense isn't common. "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
  10. now why would you want to go and be serious with my joke?
  11. after reading that ridiculous tirade, all i have to say to you is... aircraft is one word. "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329

  15. are you also implying that there would be no entry fee or a nominal fee to help cover the set up? as in clubs would sponsor or mostly sponsor the event to draw more customers? "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
  16. much like what pajarito was saying, professors and the like tend to be liberal because they spend most of their lives sheltered from the real world. they think and hypothesize based on some form of utopia. they make judgements based on how things "ought to be", not how things really are. e.g. many liberal thinkers said that the war in afghanistan was unnecessary. they said that we should negotiate and reason and compromise etc. the real world fact is that terrorists don't respond to reason, logic, or compromise. the taliban was on a mission to rid the world of western ideology at any cost. so, the real world answer to that problem is: try diplomacy and reason first but if that doesn't produce results and your country is in any danger of attack, it's time for bombs and bullets to make certain that your people aren't harmed. it pays as much as any liberal column can offer...sex with alec baldwin and enough cocaine and meth that you can snort. if your smart enough to refuse that, then you get to act in american movies or play in an american band for exhorbitant fees and praise from mental children which will have you believing that you are a political prodigy and a savior of the human condition. where do i sign up? 18. don't let bill fool you...he's old enough that his generation's sat phones looked like barrett .50 cals when held in any orientation. "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329

  20. So what? I mean, the kid was either fucking stupid or deliberately trying to kill himself. I would never blame the cops! Agreed. There are some adults which need longer termed cures. No blame to the cops. Just blame it on the parents of that poor kid. Isch jonn schlofe, naach. that seals it...you're full-blown retarded. for allah's sake, join the foreign legion or something and learn about how the world actually works. pretty please.

  23. brother, don't ya know? eccentric, non-thinkers don't need to base their contentions on anything! they just sit around in groups and talk about how bad things are/will be when their own knowledge and wisdom are based upon tv and maxim magazine. "Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
  24. adrenaline is pumped into your blood stream whenever your brain decides that you are in a dangerous (fight or flight) situation. when you get used to doing something, the adrenaline doesn't flow nearly as much or at all. when we all first started skydiving, the adrenaline was quite noticeable but, for me now, the freefall is about control and relaxation. the adrenaline i get out of the sport now is associated with learning to swoop (gotta love that ground speed!) i also speculate that very experienced swoopers have less of a "rush" when they swoop for the same reason. it seems that competition swoopers are controlled and relaxed as they try to accomplish objectives. so, i think that adrenaline does not build up in ones body under these circumstances. however, people who have been subjected to very intense situations (like battle or natural disasters) for long periods of time show signs of extreme fatigue due to long exposure to adrenaline. edit: i'm not a doctor and i didn't stay at a holiday inn express last night.
