Hi folks, This will be interesting to watch as it develops; if it develops: Brazil president proposes South America currency, as he hosts summit to rebuild regional bloc | AP News It seems to me that the Euro is doing quite well; what it was supposed to do. Well, other than the UK. Thoughts? Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, The future is closer than ever: Automakers are rushing to keep up with the global shift toward less polluting vehicles and to help in other ways to combat climate change. Toyota, Daimler Truck, Hino, Mitsubishi Fuso joining forces in ecological technology | AP News Daimler owns Freightliner, a local truck mfr. Back in the 60's, while in college, I worked in Freightliner's test lab; I was a part-time employee. I really liked that job. Jerry Baumchen

Trump Bucks scam - just how stupid are these people??
JerryBaumchen replied to Erroll's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi Errol, While most things in life have limits, IMO there is no limit to their stupidity. Jerry Baumchen -
Hi Keith, Re: It won't happen if they don't try. This, always this. The line 'It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all' comes from Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850: I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. If we do not try, we cannot accomplish anything. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Bill, Re: I'll be "timing out" during the later years. This where I am at. As I was coming home from my morning coffee run today, I was behind a Prius Prime. I started running the numbers in my head. At my age, replacing my gas cars [ one is for sale ] for an EV makes no financial sense to me. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Ken, Re: Well yes, this has always been the issue. When I joined the GOP in the late '60's, this was not an issue. Back then, the GOP took no stance on a woman getting an abortion. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Bill, Re: With Vogtle starting up we have a much better idea of the actual cost. The start-up costs are nowhere near the total costs of a nuke plant. Dealing with the waste nearly forever makes nukes not worth the money to build/operate them. Jerry Baumchen Energy Northwest - Wikipedia

Hi jakee, They eat their own. Jerry Baumchen -
Hi Mark, The Army got rid of the Golden Knights comp teams because they concluded that they did not increase recruiting enough for the money spent. IMO we should do the same for those military flyovers at sporting events. Jerry Baumchen

The debt limit, and deficits for the past 60 years

Hi John, And, this is new? Jerry Baumchen -
Hi Keith, in 1960, I spent about 10 weeks at Gunter AFB, just outside of Montgomery, Alabama. There were a lot of white folks who felt strongly about 'the flag.' It just was not the flag you and I think a lot about. Flags of the Confederate States of America - Wikipedia Jerry Baumchen PS) Earlier, I had taken a bus from San Antonio, Texas to Montgomery, Alabama. Our one & only stop was for food just after we crossed into Mississippi. To this day, I can still see that white line that ran right down the center of that eatery. There was a chest-type coke machine & the white line ran right down the middle of it, also. Some things are just wrong.

Hi Keith, Re: but many associate them with the military Re: In the military; the standard of hero is I believe that you were a lifer; yes/no? I think your military bias is shading your thinking. I might be wrong, but it is what I think. And, IMO it is for this very reason that the military is not in charge of this country. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Bill, While it is just a snapshot in time: The only person in my extended family looking to buy a car will soon buy a new EV. Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, Looks like some people do not believe that there is a collapse in EV sales: The South Korean automaker said in 2022 it would invest $5.5 billion to assemble electric vehicles and batteries in Ellabell, just west of Savannah. The site is supposed to have 8,100 employees and is slated to begin producing vehicles in 2025. Hyundai and LG announce $4.3 billion plant in Georgia to build batteries for electric vehicles | AP News The world, she is'a changing. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Joe, Hmm, I'm thinking Howdy should go a little higher. But, that is just my opinion. As I have posted many times, the first time I ever voted for POTUS, the choices were LBJ & Goldwater. I thought, 'Is this the best that this country can do?' The choices will be a lot easier next year: Biden vs any GOP nutcase. Jerry Baumchen PS) I have never failed to vote in any election in that I was eligible to vote in. -
Hi Mark, And, this veteran does also. Quite often I see someone saying something that I do not agree with. That is the trade-off for the First Amendment. And, I am sure that I have a neighbor or two who disagrees with my yard sign. Jerry Baumchen
