Hi kim, Thank you ( you too Howard ). That sequence of photos got me to install a pilot chute in my reserve very quickly after I received the magazine. JerryBaumchen
-
Hi kim, #10 is the center shot of a 3-photo sequence of Ken Rounds dumping a non-pilot chute deployed chest pack. If you can, please post all three photos; the 3rd is a classic with the look on his face. JerryBaumchen

Hi AWL, Very interesting. I am all for abortion upon demand. I also, strongly believe that: people should have the freedom to make their own decisions. JerryBaumchen

Hi chick, I live here ( well, in a burb ); been here 98% of my life. My daughter works at a place called Banfield that has their international/corporate hq here. They are a pet hospital company. I understand that they are growing and looking for people. NOTE: My daughter CANNOT help you with a job there. Go Googling and see what they have listed. If you can't find them with Google; drop me a line via pm and I'll get you some info. PDX is the best place in the country to live; I've been to 45 states so I think I know a little about what I say. JerryBaumchen PS) Learn to live with the rain.

Hi kim, Re: (L-R):Susan Clements, Ludlow Clements and Bill Nelson. I met all three of them at a meet in Ashland, OR in Oct '64. Did you know that Suzie was originally from here ( Portland, OR ) and that she was born Susan Jones? JerryBaumchen PS) For extra credit: Bill Nelson was a fire-fighter.

Hi 678, Google: Parapublishing.com & skydivingmagazine.com One publishes and sells a lot of books & the other sells a lot of books. Good luck, JerryBaumchen

Hi flyin, Try here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=68421;d=1 JerryBaumchen PS) Shameless plug. -
Hi kim, OK, here goes: ?1) The Fairchild 71; probably over Oceanside since that looks like the edge of the west coast down there. ?2) Lowell Bachmann & friends somewhere over Wisconson. ?3) Charette, Popenhager & Binnicker at the Stone Mountain meet in Georgia. ?4) Well, every parade has to have a little rain on it. ?5) Don’t know where but I would guess late ‘60’s because of the split saddles on those rigs. ?6) Armstrong & Cameron judged the ’65 Nationals that were held at Orange DZ in Mass. Jumping into the Inn was a tradition; if you made it. So much for westies handling east winds. It was an article in SKYDIVER magazine. ?7) Well, the caption says over Arvin. ?8) Passing the wienie somewhere???????? ?9) Deke Sonnichsen (Pres of PCA) just before a test jump on a prototype CrossBow rig. So how did I do? JerryBaumchen

Hi fred, Studies by Gary Peek indicate ( show ) that a slider dimensional increase in the front-rear direction is the major factor in slowing the openings. Try a SEARCH for 'PEEK' and you might find his work. JerryBaumchen

Hi triple, Try the folks that deal in used gear: Aero Store Square1 Call Ralph JerryBaumchen

Hi Andy, The ONLY thing I hold against Nixon is that he gave the North everything that they wanted ( what they wanted in '68 ) in 1972 so that he could get re-elected. "Peace is at hand." Horsepucky!!!! A lot of good people died so he could get re-elected. I never forgave him for that. To me, Watergate simply was not that big of a deal. JerryBaumchen

Hi HW, Now would that be a well renowned dz in Mass? And some country's national championships? JerryBaumchen

Hi bigway, I feel that this reinforces my arguement that each rig maker should make 10 stock colors only (a black one, a blue one, a teal one, etc ) and they would sell just as many as they do now. The customer base would adapt and life would be much happier. The automakers figured it out a long time ago. They do have options but they come as 'packages.' You can buy the stipped-down car or you can upgrade with a choice of packages. Now days most jumpers want all the accessories. In a rig the accessories do not slow down the production times. JerryBaumchen
-
Hi bigway, I probably spend way too much time thinking about this problem. My solution: Each rig maker should offer three options: 1. Take your pick from their 10 stock colors. 2. Take your pick from any color but with black trim & black harness. 3. Order custom colors as you wish. They could then offer different wait times for each type of rig. Hmmmm, I wonder which option most would take. JerryBaumchen
-
Hi nlbatem, Here is my recommendation: 1. Get the serial number of the rig. 2. Call Mirage and give them your sizes per their needs. They are the 'horses mouth' so go to them, JerryBaumchen

Hi Tidlof, ***what happened to Rozzo?" thread. There needs to be; that one would go on forever........ *** I saw him about 8 years ago at his dz in Las Vegas. It was his last day of ownership as he had sold it. Later ( not sure when ) I have heard that he was working for some furniture place in LV doing deliveries or similar. One unique guy though, JerryBaumchen

Hi Heat, I am amazed that anyone can believe anything on the internet regarding either candidate. JerryBaumchen

You did not have a choice for zero debt; that would be me. I have borrowed money twice in my life, for two different houses. Other than that everything has been paid for in cash, check, etc. And that includes every car that I have ever owned; and that includes the last one that I bought that I paid $38,500 for, used. Yup, I'm unAmerican, JerryBaumchen PS) My brother is the same as me.

Tandems over AFF students
JerryBaumchen replied to matt_f_001's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi matt, Almost every up-poster has taken the side of the dz or has come with the 'whys' that this guy did not get to jump. Some may actually be valid. Bottom line: the guy had a jump scheduled. Anyone wonder why we are losing students? JerryBaumchen -
I was in the service with a guy from Corpus and he always said just don't go there. JerryBaumchen

Hi howard, Re: what he perceived as an entrenched and corrupt bureaucracy at PCA headquarters. In late '63 Geo. Gividen (don't hold me to correct spelling on any of these names) was brought in from the east coast to be the new PCA Ex. Dir. Gividen found that Deke Sonnichsen (PCA Pres) and Bill Berry (Western Conf Dir) were running PCA for themselves. In the early spring of '64, on a Sunday, Sonnichsen & Berry came down to the PCA offices and changed the locks and fired Gividen. Norm Heaton who was the Ass't. Ex. Dir. was appointed Ex. Dir. (Who me????) and it was all covered up. Gividen went to Cameron and Lyle grabbed it and ran with it. Skullduggerry, I tells ya. JerryBaumchen PS) As for Istel & Cameron: What is that old saying about The enemy of my enemy is my friend?
