  1. Hi Mark, Actually, wasn't it Mark Baur that used the floor as his packing table? And the FAA agreed that it had 'real short' legs. JerryBaumchen
  2. Hi Mega, Rumor going around that Aerodyne has found a new fabric. It is 'apparently' not a ripstop in the conventional manner; apprently it has some type hexagon whatever in the fabric. As I 'heard' it, this same fabric will be used in both their mains & reserves; the mains getting it with silicone treating. The rumor went on as this fabric is about 20% less bulk than the fabric that it will replace. Take a real close look at your fabric and see if you see anything that might look like a hexagon. And then report back ASAP as Reno is next week. I 'heard' that they will introduce it at PIA/Reno. Anyone else know of this? JerryBaumchen
  3. Hi Terry, At the height of the acid mesh problem ( I was the 2nd person to get FAA approval of an Alternate Means of Compliance { Manley Butler was the first } ) I actually, at one time, had 75 rigs in my basement waiting for me to get to them. It became a nightmare keeping track of everything. I had to take a day just to set up a system for tracking them. JerryBaumchen PS) These days I am finally cleaning out the closets and getting rid of things.
  4. Hi likes, I recall something like in a Para-Gear catalog because ( I 'think' I remember ) that they straight stitch the loops that they supply. Anyone else?????? JerryBaumchen PS) In the past I have straight stitched them and, upon re-pack, have never found any thread broken. Although, if for a 1-pin then why stitch; just tie the knot at the bottom end as that sets the length.
  5. Hi Andrew, First, I am not a lawyer but my son is. If it was not adjudicated ( gone to trial ) then any settlement is something that would be worked out between the parties. That could easily mean that the results should, "be known to all men." would not be applicable. I'm as curious as you are, but we may never know the details. JerryBaumchen
  6. Hi Renee, Slightly OT but: Can you name one person on this site who might be considered to have any shame? JerryBaumchen
  7. Hi Paul, Page 3 took me a little while to understand but now I see it; you are pulling the loop at the bottom of the line back through the 'hole' that you have in the running end. It does look a little bulky at first but it seems to smooth out. Send me an email to: jerrybaumchen(at)verizon(dot)net and I will send you a copy of the soft link procedure ( it is a rather long MS Word document ). SKYDIVING magazine had planned on running it as an article but they are now defunct. JerryBaumchen PS) I may have to play around with your procedure to see if I like it.
  8. Hi Rover, The RW team from Issaquah many, many years ago were not called Clear Eye Express for nothing. JerryBaumchen
  9. Hi Mark, So who besides jumpers would even notice that there were no canopies in the rig? We are a 'very' small portion of the audience. JerryBaumchen PS) Did not notice your posters, SAT.
  10. Hi Andrew, I doubt that it is a question of the 'rights' of either party. It might be that the settlement was sealed by the court at the request of one or both parties. JerryBaumchen
  11. Hi Lee, I'll 2nd that. I seem to recall someone going in when the pin failed to pull free of the little pocket that it sat in. Anyone else????? JerryBaumchen
  12. Hi Paul,, I looked at those instructions on the JumpShack site for a long, long time and could not understand how they were supposed to work. Then someone sent me an email with some photos and all was well. If you have a loop on the end, such as with a steering line, then you have to pull the loop back through the line to lock it. I do this by using a large-eyed needle and some 5 cord through the eye of the loop and then through the eye of the needle and start pulling. Does that make sense to you? If not, send me an email to my private email address & I will attach some photos. JerryBaumchen PS) I have developed a procedure for making soft links using only this method; no sewing. You going to be at PIA/Reno, I could bring one along to show you?
  13. Hi Terry, What is that canopy that uses that spider slider? JerryBaumchen
  14. Hi Martin, That is Susie Clements ( he was Ludlow Clements and a great guy ) & Gloria Porter; just to set things straight. Susie ( nee Jones ) was originally from Portland, OR & Gloria is a Seattleite, JerryBaumchen PS) '61 was even before my time.
  15. Where's the Not Enough choice? JerryBaumchen PS) One more mountain to climb, one more jump to make, one more woman to . . . . .
  16. Hi koppel, Just because it does not say TSO C23(c) on THAT label does not mean that it does not say it somewhere else on the canopy. I do not have one here to inspect, JerryBaumchen
  17. Hi only, I Googled Control CTF File and found a site that has how to get rid of the CTF problem. Followed what they said and all if well again. I tell ya, there is hope for old farts like me JerryBaumchen
  18. Hi only, Yup, me neither. He said that he had to do some searching on the internet and found the solution. Now I still have some problem with a little warning about a CTF File but he is coming over tomorrow to tackle that and some other minor things. JerryBaumchen
  19. It is fixed & all is well with the world. My computer fix-it guy called today and had me go this way: START Control Panel System Then Hardware Tab Then select Device Manager Then select Network Adaptors Then select the sub-heading Then select the Advanced Tab Then go to Link Speed/Duplex Mode Then we started playing around changing things until we got it working. YEEHAW JerryBaumchen PS) I hope some you understand what we did because I don't.
  20. Hi rhys, IMO, you should have kept at least one riser to return to the mfr so that they could examine it & see exactly what you were concerned about. This possibility is no longer available, JerryBaumchen
  21. Hi Paul, For this I will refer you to a really great book that I read about 4 yrs ago: THE LIFE & DEATH OF PLANET EARTH by Ward & Brownlee I thought it was going to be boring but once I got started it was a real page-turner. JerryBaumchen PS) And for us that like to burn fossil fuels for fun & games I would refer you to: THE LONG EMERGENCY by Kunstler
  22. To all of you, THANKS Except Andy ( ), JerryBaumchen
  23. Thanks Jeff, I'll give it a try, JerryBaumchen PS) It took over a minute just to get to this window to write a REPLY.
  24. I received this today: KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4. Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love. Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card and punched out, then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only to see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted. When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work. She simply said it wasn't possible. He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter. Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night he arrived at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, let's take the kids with us." She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet her children. She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis thought, then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair. He was born a paraplegic with Down Syndrome. Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't come with us?" Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away from a woman with two kids, especially if one had disabilities - just like her first husband and father of her children had done. Kurtis was not ordinary - - - he had a different mindset. That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the movies. When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him. When he needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him and brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with. A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children. Since then they have added two more kids. So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy and Brenda the check-out girl? Well, Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona. If you tune in on 1 February , you can watch him quarterback the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl against the Pittsburg Steelers! Is this a surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person? Some athletes are also great people. It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. He has also been the NLF's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's MVP. JerryBaumchen
