  1. A guy is walking along the beach. He comes upon a naked woman laying on a blanket. He stops, looks & keeps on walking. After few minutes, his curiosity getting the better of him, he comes back and asks her what she is doing. She says that she is on strike, so he walks on. Some time later he returns with his own blanket, takes off all of his clothes and lays down beside her. Finally, she looks over and asks him what he is doing. He says 'I'm on strike also, and as soon as I get a raise I'm putting your ass back to work.' JerryBaumchen
  2. When my daughter was 17 & a senior in high school, my son ( who is 6 yrs younger ) filled out one of those cards I WANT TO JOIN THE ARMY in her name. The calls started coming to the house & eventually two NCO's showed up asking for her. JerryBaumchen
  3. Hi MrF, Well, I'm biased as I live just down the road ( so to speak ) from Astoria. You will get all the action you want in Astoria. Seems as though they do a 'rescue of the week' out there. Oh, as she said, SkyDive Oregon is just and hour + away. A very first class dz, JerryBaumchen
  4. Hi nitro, Therein sits the truth. JerryBaumchen
  5. Hi fake, Yup, the guy who flew Rod Pack for the first chuteless jump on 1 Jan 65. JerryBaumchen
  6. Hi shrop, So true. Hardly a month goes by here in the States that there is not some type of award show on broadcast TV. Me: I watched the 2nd half of 'Oliver Twist' on Public TV; far more entertaining. JerryBaumchen
  7. Hi Scott, I gotta get out to Ralph's more. JerryBaumchen
  8. +1 I'm an engineer. JerryBaumchen
  9. Hi twardo, I worked with a guy once who said the only thing he didn't like about being a Grandpa was he had to sleep with a Grandma. JerryBaumchen A Grandpa
  10. Hi Peter, Here is an excerpt from an email that I got from Mike: "We've suspended the magazine because two key staffers have elected to move on to bigger and better things. Rather than recruit, hire and train replacements, I elected to take this option. The magazine has been financially sound since the early 1980s; in fact, 2008 was an exceptionally good year for it. I'm not certain what the future holds for the magazine. Rather than leave our faithful subscribers hanging, we refunded the balances of their subscription payments. If the magazine should resume publication, we'd contact all former subscribers and invite them to re-subscribe. Again, we've certainly enjoy publishing Skydiving, and it's gratifying to now receive the good wishes from so many subscribers and advertisers. I'm sure you and I will cross paths again, Jerry; I'm not going anywhere!" Does this get you what you are interested in? JerryBaumchen
  11. Hi Terry, I was talking with Kelly at the PIA and Infinity is now at 6 weeks delivery. For those who might want to know . . . . JerryBaumchen PS) Ya, I know = shameless plug
  12. Hi Peter, By the time most dz's went to ParaCommanders for students ( oooo, way too high performance ) they had converted to pilot chutes in the gut packs. 1 1/2 shots came out in about 1965. When I bought my ParaCommander in late '64 I was still using a gut pack without a pilot chute. I put one in about early '65. JerryBaumchen
  13. Hi Jim, Time changes. Things change. Not much else to say, JerryBaumchen
  14. Hi twardo, It's 2,000 meters for international style. JerryBaumchen
  15. Hi jerolim, This is exactly what I have mentioned up-thread. I have a complete, detailed procedure on how to make them including how to install them. The MS Word file is way too large to attach to any post here. I have asked Terry Urban to see if it might be possible to get it up on the PIA Rigger's Forum; and he is looking in to that. In the meantime I am sending out copies to anyone who wants a copy. I will bring a copy with me to PIA/Reno ( I'm leaving for Reno in ~ 20 minutes ) and people can make copies there. If you want a copy of the procedure, send me an email with your snail mail address. JerryBaumchen
  16. Ya gotta be kinda old to even know what one is JerryBaumchen
  17. Hi strato, I've only seen maybe three of them; and that was back in the 70's. As I recall, there is not enough slack to put the pin in upside-down. But with enough effort I'm someone could do it JerryBaumchen
  18. Hi Ronaldo, I would ask that you not ask for anything to be removed. It is good information; and if used properly is of value to people. The risk of some know-nothing trying it is a risk at anytime. JerryBaumchen
  19. Hi zoom, Disclaimer: I have never smoked anything, including pot. I have, however, drank more than my share of alcohol. I also, firmly, believe that we should be able to do as we want as long as it does not effect someone else. Given that, would you consider running this thought past your DZO before you make that jump: but if you are doing a solo in clear airspace or a sunset hop and pop at 10 grand and burn one on the way down that is your choice. Some how I doubt that he would agree with you, JerryBaumchen
  20. Hi Ronaldo ( my Mech. Engr. compadre ), I haven't looked for a while but doesn't JumpShack say to lock/pierce the line twice? Yours looks like a single lock/piercing at each location. I double lock/pierce whenever I use this procedure. JerryBaumchen PS) The internet is a great way for us to communicate, educate and assist one another. However, as these procedures get easier one begins to wonder how many folks will start doing their own relining to their canopies and then the troubles begin. One can only hope that relining will continue to only be done by experienced riggers. Just an odd thought of mine; disregard as you choose.
  21. Hi Doug, Wow, you're closer to the facts than I am. So why not real Yak hair? JerryBaumchen
  22. Hi koppel, In theory one could put 1-2 words on each cell with a Magic Marker. As long as all the required wording was there, they would be good to go. JerryBaumchen
  23. Hi Paul, If I remember correctly ( and don't bet on it ) I think that the JumpShack builds at least one of their canopies using their No-Sew Finger Trapping method only. JerryBaumchen PS) See you in Reno.
