Hi Joe, A good friend sent this to me the other day: 'A few scenarios that I had not considered, including having lost the election, Trump shows up at the inauguration with and armed posse.' I think Trump could easily roundup a rather large, well-armed posse. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Brent, Not the same thing at all. That would be equivalent to saying that they are both female. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Brent, IMO that is what dads do if they are worth anything. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Wendy, Ever hear of a guy named Mitch McConnell? Jerry Baumchen

Hi Phil, Re: 'allowing states wide latitude to make abortion difficult to obtain' I have always felt that this is the direction that the Supremes would take once they get the conservative majority. The actual right to an abortion was set with Roe v Wade. I think it was Kansas or Texas that had a state law ( for a while ) that any abortion provider had to have admitting privileges to a hospital. This drives the costs way up; and they have to be close enough to a hospital. The times, they are a'changin. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Wendy, IMO it is for the Republican party. Jerry Baumchen PS) I'm envious of your rafting trip. How did you manage to get the permit? I've rafted our Deschutes River quite few times; hope to do it again next summer. Lot's of fun.

Hi Brent, Well, he was the 'center of attention' when he went to view her. 'VOTE HIM OUT!' Jerry Baumchen

Hi Robert, It's that getting old thing; get used to it. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Ken, Re: 'If you don’t like it get up off your ass and go vote' There it is, folks. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Don, Re: ' That means more ballots to count, which will delay the final tally.' In Oregon* our mail-in ballots are counted when they are received. I will get my ballot about 15 Oct. I expect to mail it in about 18-19 Oct. I expect it to be counted about 22-23 Oct. YMMV Jerry Baumchen * The state with best voting system in this country.

Hi Robert, From the article: 'His condition was not known.' Oh, his condition is known: Idiocy Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, Since he epitomizes the title; let's add Trump: 'Trump attacks McCain widow after Biden endorsement' https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-54270478 What a great guy; his supports must be very proud of him. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Don, #1) She was 80; IMO ** nowhere at 'the height of her ability to do the job.' #2) Great idea; now to get it implemented. Jerry Baumchen ** I turned 80 yesterday & am nowhere near the peak of any of my abilities - as I look back at the life I have led.

Hi 17, Interesting. I am just now sitting here watching the evening news & had that same thought. I'm glad Obama asked, if he did. She should have called it quits 7-8 yrs ago; we would then have a balanced court. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Jakee, Looks like Graham is giving him a good run for that title: 'Graham, who as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee would oversee confirmation hearings, has said multiple times that if a vacancy opened up in the run-up to a presidential election, he would hold off on confirmation.' Now, as expected, he is walking back those remarks: https://www.npr.org/sections/death-of-ruth-bader-ginsburg/2020/09/19/914774433/use-my-words-against-me-lindsey-graham-s-shifting-position-on-court-vacancies?utm_medium=RSS&utm_campaign=nprblogsdeathofruthbaderginsburg Not an ounce of morality among any of them. Hi miller, Probably as a result of the english-speaking influence on 'modern' Japan. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Joe, Completely off topic; but, here goes. I have made three trips to Japan ( 77 - 81 ) but am not an 'expert' under any definition. What bugs me is when I hear Hiroshima pronounced: Hirosh Ima It is: Hiro Shima Or it could be pronounced Hiro Jima; similar to Iwo Jima. Shima - Jima meaning island. Iwo Jima means sulfur island. I'm not sure what Hiro means. Or, I could be completely wrong; my, now 80-yr old mind is no longer perfect. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Jerry Baumchen
