  1. Hi Joe, Re: 'What "path" are you referring to?' When I first read Ron's post, I immediately thought of assassination. Get rid of Biden, Harris, Pelosi, etc until you get down to an R and your in business. Jerry Baumchen PS) In the world that we live in today, I would not surprised to see some folks armed & in the crowd at the inauguration. And, I'm not talking Secret Service folks.
  2. Hi John, Re: 'an uncommon grammatical element' I don't know about that; but, it does seem as though Trump's 'uncommon' effort to overturn the election is catching on with down-ballot R's. 'Trump unleashes an army of sore losers' Trump unleashes an army of sore losers - POLITICO I guess is just too tough to say, 'I lost.' Trump has brought true indecency to politics; he wasn't the first, but he is IMO the most objectionable. Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi Brent, Re: 'I disagree' And, I stand by my post. Re: 'Reagan did exhibit cognitive decline in his last term' One of the best understatements of 2020. Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi Brent, IMO Joe Biden is far sharper than Reagan was when he was voted into office. Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi Tim, Now, who would you be thinking of for the title? Jerry Baumchen
  6. Hi John, And, for the counter-point, I recommend this book: Amazon.com : the life and death of planet earth So much for any thoughts of 6,000 yrs. Jerry Baumchen
  7. Hi folks, I found this interesting. It is in Germany, however I think it is appropriate to read: 'With Far-Right Extremism On The Rise, Germany Investigates Its Police' With Far-Right Extremism On The Rise, Germany Investigates Its Police : NPR Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi folks, [Trump] can't handle the concept of the label 'loser,' 'It Is Roiling Him' An interesting ( and not long ) read: Reporter Maggie Haberman Unpacks Trump's Refusal To Admit He Lost : NPR Jerry Baumchen PS) I have attended every one of my high school reunions.* I have learned that some people simply never mature. * I've been a member of the committee for many, many years.
  9. Hi Ken, From your link: 'Perfect for church, an office, a school room or framed on your wall.' BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jerry Baumchen PS) I'M OK with someone putting it here: 'Perfect for your church, your office, or framed on your wall.'
  10. Hi Bent, IMO it is just as irrational. One of the dumbest things I have ever heard in my life goes like this: 'I have my guns to protect my family & me from the government.' Now, just who has the most guns & the biggest guns? It sure ain't Joe Citizen. Jerry Baumchen Re: ' in the President Elect’s own words.' Horsepuckey!!!!!!
  11. Hi John Re: 'We should judge them in the context of their own times, not ours.' This. Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Brent, Fear does that sort of thing. Toilet paper, anyone? Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi John, Not me. They got involved back in 2000; and I think that they 'somewhat' regret doing that. Not a snowball's chance in Hell. Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi airdvr, Re: 'He is as right as one can get and religious as well.' A truly dichotomous statement. Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Ken, When you look at the larger picture, it might be a good idea. Jerry Baumchen
  16. Hi Sky, Re: 'Education shouldn't be looked at purely as an investment from a monetary perspective' This what is was for me. I did not want to end up on the wrong end of a shovel like so many of my cousins/family members. Re: 'also from a societal perspective. A rich culture should be more than a golden toilet' This what it became for me. And, what it has become for my two children; who's education I paid for 100%. About two yrs after I started college ( ex-GI - going to school part-time ) and wondering where I would get the next buck to keep me going; I promised myself, that if I could, my children would never have to pay a penny for their college education. These are investments in our future & should be highly valued. Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi Ken, Re: 'There is no fair fix' You have hit the crux of it. As, in another thread, JFK said, 'Life is unfair.' IMO one of the biggest problems with the whole student loan thing is the scam 'colleges' that run up their students borrowing for a worthless degree. Trump University comes to mind. Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi Wendy, My second favorite is: The Fall The Fall (TV series) - Wikipedia I'm very sure that you will like it. Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi folks, Thanks for all of the input. Like Wendy, I now have some to watch. Here are some of my thoughts: Luther – I’ve watched a few of these – interesting - I like Idris Elba Father Brown Mysteries – I just never got into this one Death in Paradise – This one just seemed dumb to me Midsomer Murders – Slow & plodding, but a little entertaining Prime Suspect – Good, but I only saw a few of them The Fall – My second favorite of them all – IMO she is a hottie Top of the Lake – Just ordered these from my public library Vera – Good but no longer on PBS Inspector Lewis – I liked these – not much ‘edge of your seat’ but interesting Endeavour – One of my favorites – I like all of the actors Inspector Morse – My local PBS just repeated these so I was able to watch them A Touch of Frost – I really liked this series – I found out what ‘porkies’ means in the UK DCI Banks – I read the books first, so I liked this one Law & Order UK – I really liked this one but only the first two seasons are available in the US video format Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi Joe, That, I can agree with; specially if you are buying/selling a 2010 Ford F-150 on craig'slist. However you said: 'No one signs a contract in the real world counting on an amendment if things change.' Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi Joe, I think it would have been: SHTF Just sayin' Jerry Baumchen
  22. Hi folks, Just saw this: 'Oregon suspends license of doctor who refuses to wear mask' Oregon suspends license of doctor who refuses to wear mask - OPB Seems pretty stupid to me. Jerry Baumchedn
  23. Hi folks, I am a big fan of good, police tv shows/movies. I have learned to really like the British police dramas. I am currently watching the best one I have ever seen: Line of Duty I am currently in the middle of Series 4; the best yet. I can recommend this one. YMMV. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Joe, Re: 'No one signs a contract in the real world counting on an amendment if things change.' Having spent 30 yrs in Contract Management for the federal gov't., I consider that statement to be about 180* off. IMO everyone ( with any actual contract experience ) signs contracts expecting amendments if things change. And, that means all parties to said contract. The Gene Autry exception came to mind first. I cannot tell you how many contracts I worked on that were amended because things changed; LOTS. Jerry Baumchen
  25. Hi Wendy, Sorry, I have to agree with olaf & Kallend: ‘I think the main problem now is that he's using his personal experience to make his argument, so unless he brings other arguments in he becomes part of the topic.’ ‘He has made himself the topic.’ He has brought it onto himself. Jerry Baumchen
