Can we just have the hydro power, please.
-
You are right. But I hope we're all in agreement that any drone that self destructs is a good drone.
-
Does tar sands oil freeze? That could be a hitch.
-
Really? Steel will melt? Well, I'll be tickled with a posey! I've heard that rocks will melt too, and someone has proof, but who knows? Thank the currently popular deity for the Germans, no Telsanobyls will happening in Kulmbach now!

Lest the canard bell get's rung again, please flesh out what you mean by this statement.

I don't agree and have bet otherwise. I put 1200W Lithiums in my Caravans and 4ea 5000W Lithiums in my boat which is also fed by 2kW of Solar. Modern Technology coupled with advanced charge controllers and battery management systems make the systems extremely safe. I should also point out that there are outstanding fuel and maintenance savings from both systems--no gas powered APU to start the aircraft, less genset operations needed for ships power. And, for the aircraft, one less person needing to be paid to start the aircraft and unplug the APU all while being proximate to a spinning propeller. The future is definitely here and sure to get better.

What 'splainin'? There isn't a hell of a lot that's more solid than a barbed wire fence or taller than an armadillo between Dallas and Winnipeg. Our national power grid was attacked by Canada. Simple as that.
-
Bill, You've gone to great pains to write reasonably and with authority about grid issues on these pages. And yet when it was easily known that it was cold affecting natural gas deliveries, not windmills, that caused the Texas power problems you went immediately to the canard. That's not good.
-
Maybe I should have asked how much it cost.
-
The 250# $5500 one.
-
How many watts is that battery?
-
No one should be arguing with you over this point.
-
Are you driving to Florida just to make a point?
-
You're a real inspiration, I must say. Here you are ready to pump thousands and thousands of US dollars into the Florida economy as a reward for letting the right people die when for free you could just take the nippers camping and teach them how to build a lean-to in the snow explaining how the planet is like a thermos: put in hot and you get hot out. Same with cold.

It could well stunt them socially, however. Possibly not a negative as I now think about it. Nonetheless, kids need to associate their friends or they might grow up thinking everyone else was O.K. and be liberals.

If we were a small island by itself in the roaring 40's maybe we would have done as well, too. I'm currently in the ABC's, even smaller Islands, and they are also doing a good job of containing Covid. Not the same, not even close.

Thanks for the analysis. Now I can just sit back and watch New Zealand lead the western worlds democracies back to greatness.

Fertilizer for the plant.
-
Yes. Have kids and not have kids. Group two will start caring a lot less about group one, I'm guessing.

That's Ken's prediction, too, and if it plays that way I agree with you. But it might not. For one, it might go on for quite a while with variants, mutation etc.. Two, Re below 1 may come slower and end up meaning less than you hope because we're learning not to trust each other. Also, it is being driven home hard right now that immunization is far from perfect, so fast, cheap and accurate testing will need to happen, too. Third, I happen to be in the entertainment business and demand has been very strong. If we dropped all protective measures we'd bust every number we've ever put up this year. Aircraft leasing friends tell me that last year their customers made minimums easily in every location. That's your stimulus money at work, by the way. I have to ask myself just how realistic another $1.6 Trillion freebie package will be after this one gets spent. What I'm thinking, and I don't really like it, is that the $5.20 per gallon gas you were referencing earlier might not be the best short term idea. Same with other green economy measures. First do no harm, right?
-
OK, we didn't order the doses. Whatever you like. No I'm not talking Nuclear Plants that will never be built in 20 years. The suggestion is that cheap energy fuels the economy in the same sugar rush way that clumsily ill targeted stimulus does. If this thing continues to bash us and our economy maybe we will eventually need to look at something that will work that doesn't require more borrowing.
-
Yep. And both in spite of stiff resistance. God save all warthogs.
-
But we didn't make the doses. Blame Trump or whoever but that's where we are. Now we have a bigger problem: how to get money to those who need it while our very uncertain future plays out. This will go over like a turd in the Christmas Punch Bowl but maybe we should be less focused on pre-pandemic great ideas and more focused on providing cheap energy to the economy. In the words of Keynes: “When the facts change, I change my mind - what do you do, sir?”
-
Indeed. So, where do you guy's get your banana's? Seriously, Tim, NZ is a cool place but you press things to join an insult made by folks who also pressed things.
-
Great news. Now just 5 Billion double doses to go. Let's not kid ourselves, we have a long, tough row to hoe.
