My exception is for blatant acts of discrimination, of course. The normal right to refuse service to those who earn it must remain sacrosanct. Although, and I'm sure you'll agree, just being a bit of an asshole shouldn't apply.

When I read that what popped into mind was the opening to Lone Survivor. The inserted SEAL Team let go the kid and the old man which, if true, led to not only three team members killed but also, I think, 19 Seal Team rescuers. I don't draw a precise analogy for comparison, rather it causes me to think just how weighty and elastic so called rules of engagement must seem in real combat. -

Let's see here, skydekker was referring to race, color, sex, and/or national origin, yes? O.K., I suppose you might point out that Jews are a race but then it's not universal and blood is the color red so that fit's too and boys are a sex, I suppose, so you win there and all parties involved surely have some national origin so that's another hit for team butt sore about religion. Still, you have to agree that the practice of (icky to say) makes Hillary's basement pizza parlor offense seem tame. Oh, and unlike the pizza parlor lies, this is true.

I se your point but to my mind that is significantly worse. That's a hell of a load to put on a subordinate who might need the job bad enough to deny their morality. So if it's the boss, no bueno; if it's an employee they should be dismissed.

You're equating abortion and trans-gender surgery, specialty medical procedures that not every medical professional is trained to provide, with selling a lousy wedding cake? We disagree, then. If you open a retail shop for business to the general public then you must sell your products to the entire general public. To do otherwise is nothing short of discrimination and that we should all strive to end.

Are you new? The purpose of any original post is to surface deeply repressed emotions so as to begin travel down that long road to understanding. Unfortunately we need to explore several cul-de-sac's along the way but eventually, and after many struggles, we somehow arrive at our destination just before the thread is locked. It's a beautiful thing.

The facts are that the world is going to hell in a hand basket and all evidence points to an inexorable decline from here. We're sort of like the people who made it to base camp but needed to turn around and head down. It sucks, but we gave it our best go. The good news is that another species should be around in a couple million years, so there is hope.

airdvr, please read closely both Jerry's and Bill's replies. If you are honest in your appraisals you'll have to agree it is the conservative groups and actors who are largely responsible for the divisions. We liberals are all too happy to bring whomever into the tent.
