  1. Corporations, of course you meant. Brent, it isn't exactly a linear thing where every expense gets passed along immediately, you know that. Would you have it that all businesses and individuals simply set their own tax rate?
  2. I'm hoping just that: every $ Billion plus company will "cooperate" and pay taxes at their new fixed 15% minimum.
  3. 369 organizations of people who have absolutely no idea how the world works implore Biden and Schumer to pull the rug from under Manchin and toss his requirements from the bill. The list of signatories is impressive. Everyone will have their favorite as it should be. I was torn. Several organization names really resonated with my inner pottery tosser: Christians For The Mountains Hair on Fire Oregon Direct Action Everywhere Animals Are Sentient Beings, Inc But in the end I just had to go with: GreenLatinos I just hope Biden is listening. 4. You've got it backwards, no surprise. Yes, McConnell got snookered. Maybe Sinema will throw a fit over carried interest for billionaires. Yes, the D's would probably cave on it to get the deal, still a huge win. Of course, her Majesty will need to recognize that such demands will be inconvenient to explain come election time. I think the players have her played, too. But it is Washington so.......
  5. I doubt it. But if Manchin, Schumer, and Biden actually snookered McConnell by Manchin not supporting BBB as a way to get the Semiconductor bill through, all the while knowing he was going to vote yes on a pared down version that’s some world class snookering and great stuff for a President.
  6. Yep. One by one I’m finding safe homes for the ones I’ll never use again.
  7. As we drift along towards a more androgynous society I'll give it my best shot out of basic respect for my fellow human beings and because helping out anyone who is struggling mentally is just the decent thing to do. Same reason I reply to some posts here, I guess. That said, the whole thing strikes me as a young people's problem; once you get accustomed to not remembering names gender becomes a no brainer. Besides, if you do ever get yourself in a pickle there is always Yo.
  8. I made several promises to my mom as I was paying off her debts but not included was being a complete douchebag arms dealer some day. For the good of the world maybe we should, as good committed liberals, be looking at a way to get these guns out of circulation. Later on, after expenses, we'll work out the profits, if any.
  9. Diversity officer? Could you get tickets and fines? Demerits? I’m thinking Windsor would make a great diversity officer. Couple of weeks back at the DZ there was a pride jump at the end of the day and a party after. Fun get together, for sure. I spent the night trying to figure out who was gay or whatever, and I know everyone, but finally gave up. I’m pretty sure that’s how it is supposed to be.
  10. Aren't the Norwegians and Japanese still working on that? Tell you what, if anyone could figure a way to ditch the whale oil thing brand it AstroWhale that would be the end of them fast.
  11. It's not an act of selfishness.
  12. US Airline? Mod's, no thread drift here, if you're Woke about First Class it's no joke.
  13. I'd be okay with that if it ever got to where I gave a shit. In the meantime, I'll leave those weighty matters to my betters and continue thinking that what ever makes people happy, that has no intentional negative impact on others, contributes to a generally happier world to live in. That's a good thing.
  14. Don't watch it, life's too short. Suffice to note that the venue and name of the conference tell you what you need to know. "All I'm going to say is that, ultimately, if we are going to win the battle to protect religious freedom in an increasingly secular society, we will need more than positive law." and decrying a "hostility to religion" They no longer feel the need to trot out any pretenses, no matter how veiled, that they aren't making decisions based on their personal Christian beliefs. Get ready for a lot more Jesus.
  15. Seems to me a good opportunity to observe the absurdity of our system of private medical insurance than anything else. Here, gender reassignment costs maybe $75K plus care depending on options in Thailand maybe $6-7K all in, or out, as the case may be. Given the numbers of potential reassignments at a certain level it's a number not worth the argument. Also, we just don't have enough data or other understanding to know if the psychological benefits to the individual has an economic benefit to society over time. I mean if someone lost their nose (and in BillVon's case I'd pay personally to get that beak fixed) we'd want to get them whole and we wouldn't complain it's an unnecessary vanity procedure. Same with repairing disfigurements, cleft palates etc. In the case of the flight attendant, I wonder if it's not a case of a Captain concerned about the integrity a certain landing field. For me, if it would bring back before take-off drinks in first class, I'm all for it.
  16. Do you? Whatever fills you day, I guess, even if that includes being well informed on a subject you argue is best avoided. In my view, and to keep with the OP, what's the difference?
  17. That wasn't your point, at all. Unless you're Amish and living in an Amish village I really don't think you can speak to the effectiveness of shunning. Perhaps I can clean up your point a bit: I'm fucking up the program by playing footsie with Brent because it forces the innocent, more level headed, and better controlled, to read his horse shit. That much I agree with.
  18. Happy to help. With any bit of luck maybe one or another or our so called conservative posters will recognize the root cause of our dystopian present where anyone can sue or shoot anyone on any thin pretext and have an epiphany: holy selfish votes Batman it’s us who did it.
  19. Well, you can only imagine the stress caused by being cut from a 20-way or failing AFF 4. Someone caused it so someone needs to pay, that's sure. You suppose the recoil of an AR-15 could be the cause of a spontaneous abortion? Maybe the gun makers need to be sued. What about dimwits with loud rap music playing in their cars?
  20. Armed speech trumps free speech now. Exactly what the founders wanted when the wrote the first amendment. The idea, I guess, was it would be the first to go.
  21. Always remember the brave posters who suffered defending your right to block.
  22. You're not, though, unfortunately. You're educated and, within acceptable boundaries, smart; that's all that keeps me from blocking you, truth be known. Thus, I won't agree that you're a knuckle dragger. I'm without doubt that you're homophonic, whatever that is. The rest, well, I'm inclined to agree with the exception that I don't think you're a red neck. What you are is outstanding at trolling and, to our consternation, apparently without any other outlet for entertainment.
  23. If you arm yourself and enter a fray knowing that other armed and angry individuals are there and involved I think it's a fair argument to make that by doing so you should lose any claim of self defense. The court found otherwise.
  24. Poor analysis and worse moral judgement? Par for the course. The situation here is a punk kid who was legally brandishing an AR-15 while playing vigilante skated away from 2 murders and 1 wounding because of a stupid law that allows fools with assault rifles to interject themselves into a situation they are no part of and then claim self defense after they kill and maim. You don't give a rats ass because the gun, by extension, was found innocent, too.
