The JL's are nice, I'm thinking about dropping a pair of W6 or W7's in my car. However, he's gonna need a new amp for those. Hell, I wouldn't touch a W7 unless I could throw at least 1200 RMS at it. As for the dual voice coil vs single, it makes no difference in how reliable / good a speaker is. All it enables you to do is to have more flexibility when it comes to matching impedance. For SPL, anything above a 165db is Holy Grail territory. The dbDrag record right now is 174.5. Even barely getting into the 160's takes a shit-load of speakers, power, and money, so my hat is off to ya' Paige. That's one impressive stang.

You'll be happy with the L5's. Damn decent driver. As for the subsonic filter, that will depend on what frequency your box is tuned for. Generally, a few Hz below that is where you want to be at. My box is tuned for 38Hz and I have my sub-sonic set for 35Hz. If you set it too high, you're defeating the purpose of a vented enclosure, too low and you risk damaging the driver with sub-sonic frequencies that the driver can't re-produce. Find the happy medium.

Fooey. I've got over 400 jumps, all psycho-packed, including on ellpiticals with a pretty decent wing-loading. The only thing different about a psycho-pack vs a pro-pack is how it goes in the bag. If you're not careful and symmetrical, you'll have problems no matter what. Line-twists are usually caused by body-position or improper stows anyway. Your question is pretty vague. It's like asking what parachute to buy but giving no specifics. Are you looking for raw SPL, do you want something with great musical quality, or are you looking for something in-between? For SPL, go with Brahma, XXX, Kicker Solobaric, or Rockford P3's. For a good mix, go with IDMax, Kicker Comp VR's, or Elemental Designs A series. For pure sound quality it's JL Audio W6v2 or W7, Elemental Designs A & O series, Infinity Perfect, or Resonant Engineering's SE-series. Of course, a lot will depend on what kind of enclosure and sub size you decide to go with. Is that 500watts at 4 or 2ohms? What kind of amp? If you want boom, go with the 15, but 500 ain't gonna do much. Provide some details and I'll be happy to offer an opinion.

Hell, you don't need to be at that at even 100 jumps. Many people that were injured / killed from low turns never intended to make that turn in the first place.
