  1. I've had two cutaways on ellipticals. On a Heatwave, around jump #120, I chopped it due to spinning line twists caused by not leaving enough line between the riser and the last stow on the bag. I felt the bag bump into the container on deployment. I voted spinner for this one. The cutaway after that (and my last cutaway to date) was at the AOT boogie in '03. My Stiletto shredded a cell on opening, popped two lines, and the slider melted from the friction caused by the extremely fast opening. So I voted "other" for that last one. 2. Don't forget, all the cool kids are using OS/2 clients now, too! You kids with your silly ethernet....10-base-T running IPX/SPX is where it's at...on second thought, that's too revolutionary. I'll just stick with token ring. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  3. No doubt. That safe wouldn't last 30 seconds in Coconut Monkey's hands. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  4. That sounds closer to right. I just got this new fob last Jan and it's good until 7/31/07, it may have been sitting for awhile before I got it. And, yup, we use tokencode + domain password. The ASC system is surprisingly robust. I can only recall one time it was down, and that was for a scheduled upgrade that only took 45 minutes. I just wish the fobs were as robust. I'm evil with my keys and such, so I just keep my fob at my house. They last longer that way. Seriously though, I've only killed one in 3 years, and that was due to an accidental run through the wash cycle with my clothes. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  5. I've never had a key fail unless I don't enter the password before the next key change (60 secs). As for the battery dying, the SecurID fob comes with an expiration date which is well before when the battery will die. I believe they're good for about 2-3 years. After that, the unit displays a message showing it is expired. There is no broadcast. You simply enter the key information from the new fob into your access system and that's it. When I put in my password remotely, I enter the 6 digits from the fob in front of my password. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  6. Exactly. And if you have to do it, do it right. We use VPN with one time pad RSA Radius keys. I have the nifty RSA SecurID key-fob version myself. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  7. Another thing to keep in mind....it may not work. You've got two things going against you: 1. The firmware level needs to be the same. 2. The drive may be unreadable due to natural defects. When drive platters are made, they all have defects on them. Making a platter without defects just isn't feasibly possible. So when the drive is spun up for the first time in the factory, all the defects are mapped and loaded into a table in ROM memory on the drive board. If that board you're trying to put on your old drive has a fair number of defects on it, on the same tracks/sectors as where your data actually is, be prepared to say g'bye to it. And now ya' know, backups are the way to go. I've been caught without one recently and now have a dual-layer DVD burner sitting in my computer. Good luck from this ex-Seagate monkey.
  8. Well, not exactly, but close. Christmas is actually descended from the pagan Winter Solstice celebration, under order from Pope Julius I, who declared that the birth of Christ would be celebrated on Dec. 25th. But Linus puts it nicely, too. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  11. Someone needs to tell Karen that. I bet she'd love to marry a man. Daaaammmn, the temp dropped 30 degrees after I read that. But that's funny, I don't care who ya' are. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. My view, as a 400 jump chump, would be that if it were a high-speed mal (spinner, baglock, spinning lineover) on a full-altitude hop & pop that you're probably going to be busy enough trying to get your cutaway procedures done to worry about grabbing a riser. Couple that with the fact that you now have an induced main-in-tow (if you manage to cutaway and hold onto the riser), and it's also in the wrong hand, because you more than likely used your left hand to grab the riser. Now that the fun has begun, hopefully you grabbed onto the entire riser and not just the front or back, because the main is going to be a spinning ball of garbage and hopefully it doesn't wrap around your hand. Conversely, if you've got a slower speed mal (stable but non-clearable line-over, blown cell/lines) one could ride it down then chop it at a safe point. That's what I did when I blew out a cell and 2 lines on my Stiletto last year. I rode it from 4-ishK to just below 3 (if I recall correctly) and then chopped it once I was in a clear area. Personally, as much as I love my canopy, if it's time for it to go, it's time for it to go. I can always buy another one later if it gets lost. Buying another flying messican like me, well, that's the hard part. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  13. That was a few years ago, by your admission. Have you contacted them lately to find out their stance? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  14. Just a guess, but it's a lot easier to cut away a main and fall to a lower altitude than to cutaway a reserve. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  15. Not true. If one can't land a heavily loaded canopy (and I include, as an example, a 2.2:1 or heavier crossbraced) straight-in with no riser input, then they need to work on their tehnique or go back to a bigger canopy. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  16. Holy hell woman, how did I go from owing you a bottle of wine to owing a vineyard? Blame DZDiva, she still hasn't sent me the case. And I can't be a wussy chimp, that's still SkymonkeyONE's job. Now, if you'll excuse me, after that last comment I need to go have my face surgically altered and then move to Botswana. 17. Well, at least I know what not to get you for christmas now. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  18. *snicker* Too perverse for you? Weren't you the girl we had tied to a chair and gagged at Rantoul this year? Admit it, you know you want to go to In-N-Out just so you can have an excuse to use the phrase "I'll have the double double, animal-style" at the ordering counter. 19. I don't know about the supersonic base...you people are too fast. I don't think my back can handle it. I was pretty sore sfter the last time. If I'm not there your base just won't be the same. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  20. Exactly. The difference is that the ones that come with the CD-changers goes in-line with your antenna. You unplug your antenna from the radio, plug it into the RF box for the changer, the plug a line from the RF box into the antenna jack on the radio. Honestly though, you might want to see about getting a better transmitter than the Belkin as I've heard they're garbage. My nephew has had great luck with the iRock 400FM transmitter he uses with his iPod. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  21. Like Remi said, casette or FM is your only option if you don't have an AUX-in on your deck. Of course, just as an FYI, running MP3 through FM or casette input is going to degrade the sound. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  24. Yup, women all over can see just what a respectful, caring guy you are. Don't you mean you prefer 19-22 year olds because they're usually not experienced enough to see people for who they truly are? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
