SSRI antidepressants (which are most of the modern antidepressants) simply allow Serotonin to remain in the junction between neurons (instead of being taken back up and recycled). That way you have more Serotonin providing stimulation.....and the antidepressant effect. There's nothing about the medication, itself, that would cause problems with skydiving.... BTW....for those who are interested.....valium does in fact work in much the same way, only on GABA which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter.....just a little factoid. you can live in happiness too, like the oompa loompa dooba de do....

Out of my about 750 jumps since student status, I have used a packer exactly once. It takes a couple minutes to fold the thing up and put it in the container.....and I have a pretty good idea how it's gonna open. I hear that people aren't even learning how to pack any more? I have a really cool job as a social worker at Arkansas Children's Hospital, usually in the ER, but sometimes all around the hospital. We deal with families whenever there's a level 1 or 2 trauma, a death, abuse, psych in the ER. Sometimes we help people find food and shelter while kids are in our hospital. When kids smoke in their rooms....social work. I like my job. you can live in happiness too, like the oompa loompa dooba de do....

we're heading down to Flora Bama for the Beach Boogie!!!!!! Woo HOO!!!! I'm a little compulsive with my work and stuff, and I haven't actually had a vacation since '96. I can't believe it's been that long. Sooooo.....this summer I plan to take a few little road trips. I feel so free all the sudden. I have a particular fondness for Flora Bama. I ran away with my boyfriend in '84 and got married in Pensacola. He was in AOCS down there. The night before we actually got married, I was wasted in Flora Bama. Tequila. Threw up all night. I'm glad you're such a heads-up skydiver. It's really easy to lose sight of the risks involved with every skydive. Malfunctions are life threatening, and dealing with one when you've also taken a major thump takes some keen awareness. Things happen quick, and ya' don't have time to philosophize then. You can't figure out before hand what you'll do in every scenario, but good judgment goes a long way. Glad you're okay! Hope you heal up quickly. And....congrats again on the big ways!
