  1. But your beer is so much better. Wanna trade politicans for beer? Justin
  2. But I thought shit was what you got when you DID vote Republican.... [Runs from impending flames] Justin
  3. Thanks for pointing that out, Skreamer. I didn't think Remster would be the sucker to fall into the trap though.... We are off to Lucy's first (beer) pediatrician visit. Since it is her first, but not mine, I guess she owes the beer. It might be awhile before you all can collect. Justin
  4. Damn, Clay. That was an honest, thoughtful reply with more than sentence. Shit. I guess the world really is coming to an end! Seriously, thanks man. So far, I have been treating both ladies like the queens they are. Justin
  5. Thanks all! And Skymama, yes I know that.
  6. My wife and I had our baby. Well, she did most of the work, but I am definitely taking some of the credit. We just got back from the hospital yesterday. That explains my absence from the message boards. I know, you all wish I had septuplets so I would be too busy to ever post again, but you are out of luck.

    I'm bored!

Owie. That hurts. Next time, use a good sunshade to cover you. I'd work nicely. Justin

    I'm bored!

Aloe is so soothing on sunburned boobies... and wherever else you'd like it. Mel, you never answered the question. How is your sunburn doing? Peeling yet? Justin

    I'm bored!

How is the sunburn doing, Mel? I'd happily rub aloe on it, but I'm too far awaaaaaay.
  10. Wingnut, I think the personal video conversion business would be really difficult. At the rates you quotes, would it really be worth your time? If you charged something more, would people be willing to pay it. There is probably more overhead to the project than you think. And issues like people trying to stiff you and complaints to deal with. Before you sell your gear, I'd make really sure you can make a successful go of the concept. Good luck either way! Justin
  11. Viking, Welcome to the workplace. I'd say you should keep quiet on it as well. There is very little to be gained by saying anything. If it was a one time deal, then you risk alienating your boss over something minor. If it happens repeatedly in the future, you risk getting dragged into whatever becomes of him. If it is habitual, then it is very unlikely that your having a friendly word with him would prove effective anyway. My advice would be to carry on as usual, just being sure to watch your back if you see him drunk. For example, if he is verifying your register drawers after a day of work, make sure he does it right. You don't want to be liable for his screwups. There is nothing wrong with going out for a beer with people from work, after work, although some people still recommend against that. But it is important to distinguish when is for work and when is for play, even in jobs that aren't critical to people's lives. If your boss continues to ignore that distinction, maybe he isn't as great a boss as you think. Just my $.02, of course. Justin
  12. Fine. Boobies are okay, but I'm holding the line on Clay, Skreamer and sheep.
  13. Okay you skydiving computer freaks with nothing else to do, I need your help.
  14. Da (Russian) Hooah! (Airborne)
  15. Rhino, I didn't say why bother being religious. Just why bother trying to prove what is based on faith. For those that believe, the faith alone is enough. Justin
  16. I think a dual-boot setup is good while you are learning. As people have said, I wouldn't do it as the default for systems in my office, but for something that is going to get trashed and rebuilt repeatedly, it makes sense. That way, you can still have something running. Once you are proficient enough to know exactly what you want and how to do it, you can decide to ditch Windows (or run it under Linux). Dual-boot is great for Linux newbies that don't have a dedicated box to play with. Justin
  17. I admit to skimming quickly over a number of posts since I left off this conversation on Friday. I did see a trend which I want to address directly. So I'll throw this out to James, Sinkster and whoever else feels it applies to them.... Given the difficulties (perhaps impossibilities) of "proving" the existence of God, why bother? Is not the whole point of your belief in a supreme being that it transcends the limits of human experience and intellect, and must be based primarily on faith? Thoughts? Justin
  18. Wow, ChromeBoy. You were serious. I thought this was going to be about people that were "Carpal Tunnel"s in the forum. Justin
  19. I snuck boobies in about 40 posts back, in the bottom of a long post. But you can never have too many boobies, as long as they aren't man-boobies. Justin
  20. And you are the master of tact. Oh, that is funny. Justin
  21. Yeah. Clay beat me to it. I was just going to say a jumper with an erection. Justin

    Grrr

No. Find an anthill or termite colony or something and go buck wild. When you are done, you will probably be really calm and at peace with your weather situation.
  23. No problem. As long as it works for you.
  24. James, I understand the laws of thermodynamics. Where we disagree is on their relationship to the Bible. I don't see conservation of energy and entropy as decisively proving that grasping the creative process is beyond our ability. Nor do I see it as proof that things were created by a higher power. I can build order, create beauty, initiate life and control energy on a small scale. My wife and I are creating life by making a child. When I charge up a battery, it is negatively entropic on a tiny scale. I have focused energy and made order. Of course, on the macro scale, the energy came from somewhere else and, if the universe really is a closed system, entropy was increased elsewhere to the same degree I diminished it where I am. Going back to what I said in my last post to you, I don't agree about God doing anything. I'll rephrase your final two sentences to the point where you can probably accept them, and I have no objection to them: If you had said, "Therefore, I am completely limited to what God has seen fit to tell me, and I believe this information is in His written Word. This is my textbook on the SCIENCE of creation!", I would have no problem with that. It wouldn't have anything to do with me. Your belief, your God, your view of creation. Not mine, and certainly not universal. But fine for you, as long as you don't insist that they be my beliefs too. Justin
  25. While I don't accept that the Bible is completely true, nor do I state that it is completely false. My point is that I don't accept something as fact simply because it is in the Bible. To me, it is not an authoritative document. To me, events need independent verification. As you said, some things have been identified or found to be true to both your definition of proof and mine. Justin
