Listen to your instructor! (Except if he says that I am a no good trouble making drunk, in that case ignore him). Use Dropzone.com wisely ... when you need advice ask your instructor, do not believe everything that people tell you online. Buy a block of tickets as soon as you graduate. Make lots of jumps, stay current. There are a lot of great people at Lodi, jump with them, learn from them. Your instructor or Bill can recommend people for you to jump with after you graduate. Buy lots of beer. See you soon ;)

Tracking Derby 5/6 at Lodi - How did it go?
noname replied to Elisha's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jumping conditions were perfect. Someone else will know winners and actual distances, but the tracking I saw was pretty impressive. The tracking contest at Lodi is not just for experts, all are encouraged to participate since tracking is such an important skill. -
How do you figure? If DZ's can't keep a staff because they're skyriding, they'll stop skyriding. If all dz's stop taking skyride certificates, skyride will go out of business. I've been jumping at my home DZ for 10 years, and working there for 7. When the DZO was considering Skyride I told him in no uncertain terms that I'd be gone. I'm sure the minimal profits involved in skyride jumps was his primary deciding factor, but I do believe he took the very vocal discouragement he got into consideration as well. Blues, Dave I don't know about that. Skyride gets their money first, before the student even knows they are overpaying or if the student even knows that the dz won't take the certifiate. Skyride is deceptive and will continue to be so until enough lawsuits hit them that they shut down. What would happen if everyone quit going to the local dz because they took skyride certificates? Do you really think Skyride would stop what they are doing? Skyride wont give a danm if your local dz goes out of business. In fact, they would probably still sell tandems for it and laugh at the students that bought them.
-
I don't think these dzs are supporting skyride or approve of their practices. Skyride is taking advantage of the dzs too, not just the tandem students. Boycotting your local dz is going to do nothing to hurt skyride.
-
Would it be better if you bought the skyride certificate and showed up only to hear that the DZ wont accept the certificate and you get NOTHING for your money? At least if they take the certificate you get to make your skydive. Skyride ripped you off on the price, they are the bad guys here, not the dz's taking the certificates.

i didn't ask were it had been, only if it tastes good.......... I don't think a lady would comment on the tastiness of her fingers
-
A lady does not talk about where her fingers have been.

Thanks to everyone at Eloy and Team Flail for making my visit to Eloy fun! Team Flail made me feel welcome on a new dropzone and I had some great jumps and met some fun people. I’m so jealous of all you still jumping in the Arizona sun. I hope to visit again soon! Mara from Lodi

It all depends on how many jumpers we have. The Otter goes up on busier days. The past few weekends I have done Otter jumps only. If we are really super busy then the tandems go in the Otter and Bill will fly some light Beech loads of just fun jumpers. Talk about a fast trip to altitude!
-
Great people, $15 to altitude! Bring beer and we will see you there!
-
Yes there is.

Check it out here! partywithotis.com

Hey ;) I don't know what Will is doing about promotion .. I will nag him about that. bring lots of bills.

Yes, with a Party with Otis on Saturday night.

8/10. I'm going go get some chocolate and sit really close to the TV! Totally safe

Anything is possible, but I kinda doubt the guy had this for student gear last year.

A guy who lives by the dropzone told me he made two solo jumps and on the second one he landed in his yard. He said he wasn't scared and he was one wild and craaaaazy dude .... he just leaps out of the plane YEAH I'M A BADASS. Then he made this funny sideways jump and made a motion like he was pulling his ripcord like he saw on tv. I guess he didn't realize that was exactly where his cutaway handle would have been on a REAL jump. Yeah, I always pull my cutaway handle right out the door, I'm just a badass like that.
-
Def. talk to Will about any problems you are having with your jumps. I don't think you are the only person ever to switch from static line to aff. And remember, day 1 is pretty damn tough no matter what. I always felt better as a student on my second day in a row ... like I got more comfortable with the whole experience. Good luck in your jumps! We have a great summer ahead of us!

Make the other crw dogs wear more weight???
-
Hmmmmm ... I blew it up a bit but the text didn't get any clearer. Sorry

People make mistakes on measurements so I wouldn't stress over that. But when you totally misrepresent an item ... BRAND NEW NEVER WORN and it has stains then there is a problem. Would you buy the dress if the ad said "designer dress, great deal, few stains"? I would write the seller again, state that the item is not as advertised and ask for a full refund. If it wont cost a lot to ship it back then you can offer to return it. What the seller charged you for shipping might be a lot more than the actual cost to ship. No positive feedback until everything is to your satisfaction!

My company is downsizing and the lucky ones that didn't laid off took a paycut. In an effort to save money we are cramped into parts of the building while shutting other areas down, no more paper towels, coffee, tea provided in the breakroom. We feel lucky to have toilet paper. Recently all these crazy plants started appearing all over. Turns out we had a feng shui consultant in who advised that all our luck was running out the back door. I'm going to suggest that all sales staff wear hawiian shirts.

Oh yeah, I was the most annoying whuffo ever. I only showed up at the dz cause my friends were going and they told me there was lots of beer there. "Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane? You guys are all crazy. And stupid. I would NEVER EVER jump out of a plane. I mean thanks for the beer and all but what is wrong with you people????? What if your parachute doesn't open?" The whole idea just seemed a lot saner after talking to actual jumpers and finding out what it was all about
