  1. This is rich coming from a guy who was an S&TA and refused to provide an incident report after a fatality. Look in the mirror first JP.
  2. As I edited my previous post, I was being sarcastic. There were lots of them awarded around the US this year. If its not on Dropzone.com, it never happened!
  3. I'm sure there will me more next year. Maybe even some USPA member dropzones will participate ;)
  4. No I can't "figure it out" from your post. What was the reason? A few people told you it was a bad place to jump? A "good amount" of people don't jump there? A good amount of people do jump there you know. You saw a few low time jumpers with bad paperwork? You pulled up in the parking lot and there was a giant flying spaghetti monster over the landing area? What was your reason?
  5. The tunnel will be great for you! IF you have a good coach, how about a fall rate dive. No focusing on getting to formation or turning points. No grips, face to face, and just match your instrutor as he/she changes their fall rate. I did a few and found it really helpful. Or, more beer and cheeseburgers should do the trick!
  6. How do you know? Did you see their certification? I was not aware that anyone had to see anything for themselves before posting facts about it. Good to know.
  7. Warning: listening to this poster may not be good for your relationships. This is a man who shops at Home Depot for Valentines Day. Lowes if he is feeling really romantic.
  8. with all the crap we eat I bet we are not as flavorable as we used to be.
  9. I find they work really well if you actually use the bleaching gel and trays, but just owning them and having them sit in the medicine cabinet hardly does any good at all. I wish my dentist would have been more clear about that!
  10. I'll just stick with .... Beauty and the Beast.
  11. Oh Jesus Christ! Which spare bedroom do you want to sleep in tonight? A Room with a View! More like Home Alone!
  12. Oh Jesus Christ! Which spare bedroom do you want to sleep in tonight?
  13. Last time I borrowed my husband's canopy I cut it away and he got to watch it drift over the freeway. He still talks about how I cut *his* canopy away.
  14. Hi Don, You have a very component instructor who knows your home DZ. He can give you much better guidance then anyone on the internet. The argument over whether or not the pilot should do a go around at Lodi was going on long before you or I started jumping and will continue for as long as Lodi has a dropzone. Also, there are several staff members and up jumpers who can help you with this or any other questions. If you catch the CRW team during their hang out time they are a wealth of knowledge about canopy control and flight. They also know a little about landing out ;) Good job on actually looking where you were before leaving the plane and pulling high and finding a safe place to land. I think you already did the right thing here. See you at the DZ!
  15. No, it would mean you had a very poor student.
  16. I disagree. All that does is play to the wide part of the bell curve. I wish you well if you take the AFFI course and, on a single-I jump, you get a CD "student" who goes completely fetal, and then tries to whip you off or kill you. Maybe you'll get him stable. Maybe you won't. Even if you're good. So some students are so bad it takes two jumpmasters to get them stable?
  17. If the instructor has to struggle that hard then either you have a very poor instructor or a very poor student. My Lodi single AFFI was such a good flyer that he was not struggling just to keep me stable. He could have done that with one hand and made a sandwich with the other. And believe me, I was not the easiest student. I got solid ground instruction, then a through video debrief with plenty of attention and teaching.
  18. You fell for that old line huh?

    Wow! Nice flying!
  20. Thats because everyone wanted a drunk chick at the DZ that night...... No, becuase being underage she did not drink any of that beer
  21. Obviously if there were some dropzone out there that strapped a rig to your back and tossed you out with 10 minutes of ground school, you would be screwed. But I got great instruction at Lodi and I felt very watched out for. The entire staff saw and critiqued my student videos and landings. I got plenty of advice and help and people have jumped with me all this time and helped me improve my skills. There are places you don't want to land at Lodi, like the grape stakes and the freeway and the power lines, but I have found them very easy to avoid. My AFF instructor went over the entire dropzone picture with me and taught me a strategy to assess where I was and maneuver myself over safe territory and into the huge student landing area. I have walked in from the field many times, but I have never landed in a bad place or off the dropzone.
