MacBook with AppleCare (good to have the extended warranty). She can boot in Windows or MacOS, the thing runs forever and will probably never crash. If you have an apple store nearby, she can get free training on the iLife programs (calendar, photos, video, music, etc) and if she has a question, she can go and talk to an actual person rather than getting tech support in India. AppleCare warranty covers damn near anything. My cat knocked my iBook (older model; macBook is the new one) off my table, and it swung by the power cable and fell, breaking the power pin. They fixed it for free. After almost three years, that's the only time the iBook has ever been in for repairs. My toshiba laptop (windows) was in the shop EIGHT times in six months. That thing is now a paperweight on a shelf in a closet somewhere. Cost of the Toshiba: $3400. Cost of the iBook: $899. Plus, as an educator, she can get a 10% discount on Apple computers.

Organ sales, just like prostitution, are happening. Legalization allows us to exercise more control over it.

One of the downsides to online communication is that it isn't always easy to read someone's intent.

I wasn't addressing the "pet peeve" thing to you... just saying it was really the only issue I've ever run into related to being adopted. =) I was just trying to say that there are people who are adopted who really do have no problem with it.

I was adopted at birth. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no issues about it aside from one pet peeve. It irritates me when people imply that my relationship with my mom and dad is somehow less than "real" because it isn't biological. So, I guess my issue isn't so much with adoption, but more with other people's ignorance about it.

Offensive, NSFW thread titles should be deleted?

you are aware displaying avatars is optional? I turn them off on slow connections anyway.. one less thing to wait on.. No, I didn't know that! how do you turn them off? -
One of my friends stuck a coffee can by the coke machine at work... she's getting tons of spare change! Next week, I'm going to bring in homemade cookies and put them in the break room, with my donation can next to it...

Disneyland sounds great! I've got an annual pass, so count me in!

If you want to visit schools near Los Angeles, I've got contacts. Atlanta or Orlando, can't help ya. Good luck!

No kidding! I didn't know the money was coming and just happened to log on after only getting mugged once. The rest of the people online need to bank it now! (I see several with $600k+ available...I'd mug everyone of you if you weren't in my gang). Blues, Dave I wasn't on at the time, and about every penny got mugged away.

If they can work things out, the court may never even get involved.

Austin, our team coordinator, just called me to find out who was going. I listed Rosa and Lisa. If anyone else is going, they need to call Austin at AIDS Walk at 213-201-9255.

It's not the job of the government to improve lives. Legalizing vices certainly won't hurt lives, because those vices are already readily available. Ask any kid in high school where to get drugs. Chances are, they know, and they have access, but they don't use, just like most people have access to cigarettes but only a small percentage use. Most people don't participate in vices because they understand they are bad for you, not because they're illegal. A vice being bad for you won't change based on whether or not it's legal. I wish the government would stop banning things and start educating about them by providing real data, not scare tactics.

Speaking as a former educator, if you do not live in the same school district, 50/50 will be a BIG problem for your child. You can't have the kid at two different schools during the year. If you're going to help raise the kid, you need to be in the same town. I'd suggest you and the girl go to counseling together to learn how to jointly parent your child without being together romantically. It's a very tough juggling act, and you both need to learn to communicate with each other in a new way.

Yes, along with pornographic avatars. We should be able to look at the main screen of the site, and SFW threads on our breaks without worrying about accidentally downloading something that could get us into trouble. As long as NSFW is clearly labelled, we can go look after work. -
Then I feel sorry for any pet you may have.

They're stronger and have a higher defense.

It'll be funny if it says "Turtle is as slow as a turtle compared to you!"
-
And prohibition of drugs and prostitution is what's keeping it running.

Criminals are already selling stolen organs. Legalizing it would simply end the black market (at least most of it) and protect donors as well as recipients.
-
Unless you want to pick them up, take them to a wildlife sanctuary, and donate some money for shots, not much. A bird in a collision that bad will probably die from brain swelling without anti-inflammatory injections fast. Edited to add: you could close your curtains during the day to prevent any more bird fatalities, I guess.

Hugs for you and your kitty, and hope for a swift recovery!

Just make sure to put your money in your bank vault.

Search. Type in their name (or a level range) When the screen comes up, off to the right you will see [attack][mug]. Click on one or the other. Attack will put them in the hospital. Mug just takes their cash. Mug gets you 250 xp, and attack is level dependent, I think.

I didn't see any requests when I looked, so I wanted to make sure you'd gotten an invite. I figured you were either "Turtle" or "Turtlespeed", but I guess someone else got there before me and invited you. =)
